Seth MacFarlane hosts SNL

Saturday night, the 38th season of Saturday Night Live returns, and the show is beginning with a bang. It will be hosted by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, with musical guest Frank Ocean. But even though the two will add an immense amount of talent, the show has plenty of its own. MacFarlane spoke with MTV about his week on the show.

The big news of the week was Jay Pharoah taking over the part of President Barack Obama, which will most likely be shown because of the number of political sketches to be included on the show all the way up to the election.

"SNL has a long, rich history of political sketches, and there are some [this week]," MacFarlane told MTV.

He added that he's thrilled to be on the show this week.

MacFarlane said that Pharoah's portrayal of Obama is something not to be missed.

"He's a brilliant, brilliant guy. His Denzel Washington is hauntingly awesome [and] his [Obama] is great," he said.

Since Jason Sudeikis announced he will be returning to the show, chances are good he'll be reprising his role as Mitt Romney.

Singer Frank Ocean will be the musical guest on the first episode of the season, and MacFarlane talked about his respect for the amount of talent Ocean is bringing to the show.

"Frank is a huge get for the show. He's the guy right now," he told MTV. "I'm scandalously ignorant when it comes to almost all popular music but he's huge; he's like the biggest act in the world right now and is an enormously talented guy."

With MacFarlane as the host, there is no doubt there will be a Family Guy– and/or Ted-themed sketch. Because MacFarlane is the voice behind all of his characters, we can only hope that he will dress up in a human-sized Peter Griffin suit. Or better yet, as a human-sized teddy bear.
