It's been only a little over six months since Bear Grylls was fired from his show, Man vs. Wild, by the Discovery Channel. But he has shown us once again that he can survive anything. Grylls reportedly has a new project in the works; NBC announced today that they are creating a "competition series" with the adventurer.
"The NBC series, Get Out Alive, is planned for airing next summer," according to the Associated Press. "In it, Grylls will guide two teams in adventures. He says competitors will learn survival skills and teamwork but will have to suffer some pain before being rewarded in the end."
The show will feature contestants in two teams, competing in survival-like conditions.
"Get Out Alive will be raw, tough and unrelenting, but it will also inspire and teach the essentials that one day may just save your life," Grylls told Entertainment Weekly. "The goal is to empower people with the ultimate in both survival and teamwork, and that brings incredible reward — but first there must be some pain."
Grylls starred on Man vs. Wild for six years before it was cancelled in March of this year, and this show marks his first time with a broadcast television show. He will be co-producing the series with former NBC entertainment chief Ben Silverman, said the Associated Press.
"To meet Bear is to meet a force of nature," Paul Telegdy with NBC Entertainment told Entertainment Weekly. "He is a magnetic and charismatic talent, whose infectious enthusiasm for adventure inspires people to push themselves beyond their limits."
There is no word on how difficult the scenarios might be, but knowing Grylls, they won't be easy. And it's very possible that there may be some bug eating in the works . Get Out Alive will premiere in summer 2013.
