Game of Thrones Season 5 rumor: Hodor and Bran go AWOL

Yeah, OK. That time Martin promised "a lot of death" in the new book >>

Well, guys, it looks like Hodor and Bran have caught up to their story line in the Game of Thrones books. Despite the sketchy situation in which we left Bran and his large pal, it sounds as if we won't learn their fates anytime soon. In a recent interview with Yahoo News Australia, the man who plays that towering, lumbering protector let it slip that he and his closest co-star are on hiatus while everyone else has returned to work on Season 5.

"We have a season off and we have a year's hiatus, solely because I imagine our story line is up to the end of the books," Nairn shared with Yahoo. "So, I get my year off now to do Rave of Thrones and gallivant all over the world."

While many fans are holding onto hope by pointing out that HBO has yet to confirm this, we see no reason to believe it to not be true. Why would Nairn lie? If you're bummed about a lack of Hodor and Bran, don't flail angrily at HBO, though. If anyone is to blame, it's George R.R. Martin and his ultra-slow writing process. We'd send him fan mail and encourage him to get a move on, but we're afraid to add to the insanely famous author's to-do list.

Too cute! Kids reenacted Emmy-nominated shows >>

We're not sure what this says about us, and we're certain many GoT fans are going to want to burn us at the stake, but we're actually cool with being done with Bran and Hodor for a while. Hodor is, of course, beyond lovable. And there's nothing particularly abrasive about Bran. Scenes of their travels were becoming a bit bland, though. That was usually about the time we checked our text messages or replied to that tweet from a friend. If anyone suggests they haven't done the exact same thing, we're calling shenanigans.

Game of Thrones only ended earlier this summer, so we still have a solid six months to go before we see new episodes from any of our favorite characters. It could be another year after that before we set sight on Hodor and Bran, again. Don't worry, though: We're sure there will be plenty of other action and drama from the remaining Game of Thrones Season 5 cast.
