On Wednesday morning, two masked gunmen stormed the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo, killing 10 staff members and two National Police officers. In the pursuit of the terrorists — who were ultimately killed — several other hostages were injured or killed.

Since the attack, the phrase "je suis Charlie," French for "I am Charlie," has become a rallying cry of unity against the attacks and in support of freedom of the press.

And although the stars filing down the red carpet and filling the ballroom at the Beverly Hilton Hotel could not join the more than 40 world leaders and millions of others marching in rallies worldwide, some found a way to honor the fallen and support the cause. Helen Mirren was perhaps the most notable.

The Hundred-Foot Journey star made a statement on the Golden Globes red carpet by pinning an actual pen to her scarlet gown in homage to the slain journalists. She also carried a sign simply reading "Je Suis Charlie."

Mirren wasn't alone in taking a stand, either.

A "Je Suis Charlie" button adorned the lapel of George Clooney's suit, and his wife Amal Alamuddin Clooney prominently displayed a matching button on her purse.

American Horror Story's Kathy Bates flashed the words on her cell phone, while couple Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger carried a sign.

Clearly, Hollywood was rocked by the attacks like the rest of the world, and although the stars will physically spend their evening in Beverly Hills, their hearts are in Paris tonight.
