Talk about doing the Time Warp — 40 years after the original Rocky Horror Picture Show became a cult classic, Fox is bringing a two-hour adaptation to the small screen. And damn it, there's no better way to toast such a tribute than, well, to actually toast to it with our drinking game.

More: The hardest Rocky Horror Picture Show quiz you'll ever take

After all, the beloved debauchees in the film are nothing if not hedonists... or at least they wind up that way after a flat tire forces them to take refuge in the home of the eccentric Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Which brings up a salient point: Pick a weak drink, y'all! You're gonna be tossing 'em back.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again airs at 8/7c on Thursday, Oct. 20 on Fox. So grab a few drinks and a few friends and get your weirdo on, dahlings.

Ciandre Taylor reveals her Survivor strategy to betray the Gen-X tribe

Her journey to land a spot on Survivor stretches back a whole decade. After applying for years to be on her favorite show, Ciandre Taylor — better known as CeCe — was considered by casting for numerous seasons before ultimately picking her to be on Millennials vs. Gen-X. In our one-on-one chat with Ciandre, she explained how the casting process triggered a major disadvantage when compared with the other castaways. Plus, she revealed who she thinks is most deserving to win the game.

More: How Michaela Bradshaw became Survivor's unexpected hero

SheKnows: What was going through your mind as you were voted off?

Ciandre Taylor: When my name was written down the second time that night, I was like, "Oh my goodness. Here it is. Back to this again." I hate to say I got used to see my name at Council, but I got used to seeing name. The first time I seen my name I was like, "OK, well, I've seen that before." After the second time, I couldn't believe it was happening. We were going to vote out Michelle. Blindside. My fellow Gen-X-ers backstabbed me. It was definitely disappointing and angered me.

Image: CBS

SK: Did you have any idea it was coming?

CT: I felt it, I'm not gonna lie. There was a couple moments after the challenge happened where I was at the beach with Chris, David and Zeke. Chris was so eager to say, "We've got Zeke. He's gonna vote out Michelle with us." We had just discussed it, so I thought that was kind of odd because Chris never discussed strategy with me or [was] eager to discuss a plan with me.

SK: You were getting votes each time you went to Tribal Council. Why were you such a target?

CT: It's so odd and crazy that it happened that way. I was pulling my weight at camp. I did the best I could at the challenges. I'm not the weakest swimmer. Dave had just learned how to swim along with me. I literally learned to swim in the 30 days I had to prepare for the show compared to everyone else who had six months. I got cast, like, 30 days before, and that was the first time I was ever in the ocean. Socially, you tend to gravitate to people who you're more familiar with and have things in common with. Me and Rachel had a little bit more things in common, so I was with her a little bit more than I was with the other ladies. Maybe they thought we were scheming to do something, but that really wasn't the case at all. We were just getting to know each other, getting water for the rest of the tribe and team-building. I think they just looked at it as putting my name down just because. I wasn't even bad in the challenge. Then the second time, I was like, "Y'all just picking. Y'all just want me out. Y'all just think I'm the weak person." It makes you wonder who's really in your corner. I thought Ken and Dave did have my back, but it's still disheartening when every single week everyone seems to be gunning for you.

SK: Did you find yourself going on a witch-hunt to determine who was voting against you?

CT: No. I didn't do that. In the first episode, the girls were honest about who voted for me. They didn't show that part on camera. I really pinned them down and asked why they put my name down. They said it was because they thought Rachel had the Idol. What does that have to do with me? If you think she has the Idol, why are you putting my name down? I don't have the Idol! It just didn't make sense. They thought I was in cahoots with her, but it didn't make sense. After that I didn't want to put a bigger target on my back, I just wanted to get to know everyone and play the game as I see fit from moment to moment. I did get to know the rest of the tribe, but they didn't show a lot of my bonding. They were very nice people and we did get along, so there wasn't anything that stood out that anyone did.

Image: CBS

SK: You said you were selected for the show just 30 days before the season. How did you get on?

CT: I've been applying for the past 10 years. I'm a superfan, so I've been applying since I was 23 years old. There was always some interest from the casting directors every single time I applied. They'd give me a phone call and say they were interested, but it wasn't the right time. There was always some feedback from them that they were interested, which kept me motivated to keep applying. This particular time, I sent the tape in and didn't hear anything back from them. I just went along with my life as I usually do. Then all of a sudden I got a phone call on a Sunday, which happened to be the week of finals for casting. They called me in to be interviewed by the producers and head casting director. I was like, "Wow, how does that just happen? I got cast at the last minute in the week of finals." It was pretty crazy, especially to get your life together within 30 days to go away for seven weeks on an island and not being able to tell anyone. That's stressful in itself, whereas everyone else had six months to prepare and get familiar with the process. It was exciting, but it was a stressful time to prepare for that, especially when I really couldn't swim.

Image: CBS

SK: Do you feel that your last-minute casting put you at a disadvantage going into the season compared to the other castaways?

CT: Oh, absolutely! If only I had six months to prepare. Normally you send in a tape, they give you a phone call and you go in for a first interview. Then you come in for a pre-final before the finals. That process happens within about a six-month period. Throughout that you're kind of getting your life together with the possibility of being picked. If I had six months, I probably would've been a superswimmer, a fish in the water. There's so much I would've done differently just to prepare, and swimming would've been the biggest thing. Physically, I would've been in way more shape than that too, but it's hard to physically prepare when I had to worry about learning to swim as well. I had to focus on the swimming versus me getting my running and endurance up. The Millennials, they don't have to worry about that. They're young, so they're endurance is what it is. They've got energy to bounce off the walls. But for me, I'm 40. I need a little bit more energy and needed to build up my endurance. I think I had a disadvantage compared to the 19 other castmates.

Ciandre Taylor at Gen-X beach on Survivor: Millennials Vs. Gen-X

SK: We didn't get to see too much of your strategic moves. What was your master plan?

CT: The biggest thing I had was to the girls the day that Paul was voted out. I said, "Let's come to a consensus here and do an all-girl alliance. We can bring Ken into our alliance and have him as an extra number." We would've had a good handle on the numbers, but I always felt like when in the game, some women always kind of leave it up to the guys or go the direction the guys go. We could turn this game around. We don't have to let the guys dictate the direction of votes in the game. It was something I did propose to the ladies. They considered it, but it never became a solid plan. I also had a plan if the merge did happen that I was actually gonna flip. I was going to be with the Millennials and get in with them. I felt that they were playing the game a lot better than the Gen-X-ers were. I identify with them as well because I have teenagers, and I understand them.

SK: If you could vote for a winner right now, who would you pick?

CT: Ken. I think he's played a well-rounded, better game. He's more social than some of the others. He was able to speak with everyone, even when you saw him bringing in Adam. He's a physical contender in the game. He's loyal and he has a good heart. He's not a backstabber or manipulator. He's a well-rounded guy. So a winner today, I would definitely give it to Ken.

SK: So who do you hope doesn't win?

CT: I'm gonna say Chris. I'm just not feeling Chris at all. No, I don't want Chris to win. He stabbed me in the back, so no. No. No. I don't want Chris to win.

I love The Voice, but I'm not excited for Gwen to return

$

It's no secret that I love The Voice and think it's one of the best shows on television. When I heard the news yesterday that Gwen was returning to her coach's chair in February for Season 12, replacing Miley Cyrus, you'd think I'd have jumped for joy.

But I did not.

Though Gwen's relationship with Blake Shelton is one of the most interesting (and intriguing) pieces of Hollywood gossip I've heard in a while, that's not the reason I sighed. Rather, it's because I think that although her coaching was respectable, I feel her performance in the 'makeover' department has been a global disappointment.

More: America got it wrong with outrageous elimination on The Voice

During the 'transformation' period, the point in the competition where contestants undergo makeovers and wardrobe adjustments to further solidify their stage presence, I felt Gwen's creative visions have missed the mark, leaving her team feeling uncomfortable, and, in some cases, returning to their previous looks.

I'm not sure whether contestants' wishes weren't heard during this process, or if they left their fate in the show's hands, but it appeared some walked away without gaining the new self-concept for which they may have been searching.

More: Miley Cyrus' outfits aren't the point of The Voice

It's clear that Gwen is all about reinvention, and that she's obviously a creative spirit. But her transformations reminded me of her Harujuku Girls, whom she 'dressed wicked' and 'gave names'. Except the Voicecontestants were already dressed, and already had names.

Is that the real essence of The Voice? To turn an artist into someone he or she is not? And further, should so much time and energy be applied towards changing a contestant's physical appearance?

It would be my hope to see Gwen return as the fierce spirit she is and nurture primarily the voices of each of her contestants, to ask for input and feedback during transformations, and to simply allow the unique beauty of each artist to shine through. I hope her return ushers an era of appreciation of natural beauty, following in Alicia Keys' much-celebrated footsteps.

And, most of all, that she remains true the show's core value: That the voice is the factor that truly counts.

Dear Grey's Anatomy: Please don't try to make Meredith and Alex hook up

$

Another week, another solid episode of Grey's Anatomy Season 13 is on the books. Picking up where we last left off, this week's episode dealt largely with a potential Omelia pregnancy. And as cute as Owen was fawning over baby Harriet, I couldn't help spending the entire episode honed in on another pair: Meredith and Alex.

More: Hey, now! Did Owen and Amelia just make a baby on Grey's Anatomy?

If you haven't yet watched this week's episode, head's up — this is your official spoiler alert. I'm about to reveal critical plot points, so don't say I didn't warn you.

Now, let's get to the good stuff: Merlex. As in the 'ship name given to Meredith and Alex because, yes, they definitely have 'shippers, y'all. Although I hate to admit it, I find myself in that camp more and more these days. I can't help it; the way they are there for each other is dreamy.

Then there are episodes like this week's, which remind me why I hope "Merlex the couple" never comes to pass.

In one particularly sweet scene, Alex talks Mer out of making a decision that could cause major problems in her career. You know the scene. She wanted to go guilt an old lady into giving up her transplant liver so that Mer's younger patient could have it. This sort of behavior isn't just frowned upon in the medical world, it's against the rules.

So Alex reasons with her, reminding her that sometimes seemingly innocuous conversations lead to bad consequences — much like her little chat with DeLuca on Alex's behalf. She concedes the point and sits back down with him.

More: Not gonna lie, Meredith should mention Derek in every Grey's Anatomy episode

In that moment, they are precious. It's easy to be wooed by the way they always show up so fully for one another. Who doesn't want that in their life?

You're probably wondering, "I thought you said you didn't want them to get together?" I promise, I'm getting to that point. In case you couldn't tell, I'm clearly far too invested in these characters.

Here it is: We need more strong male-female friendships on TV!

Think about it... there isn't really another relationship between major characters on a TV show quite like theirs. There always seems to be a romantic component or it is made clear that one character or the other is not attracted to the other person.

With Meredith and Alex, we know from their history that he has been attracted to her. It seems safe to say the thought has crossed her mind too. And emotionally, well, they share the kind of connection anyone would be crazy to pass up, platonic or otherwise.

But I hate the message it sends when every male and female friendship on TV eventually turns into something romantic, and I hate it for the same reason I hate the theory that men and women can never truly ever be friends in real life — it makes it seem as though we have no control over our own decisions.

More: Could Shonda Rhimes be staging a Grey's Anatomy spinoff for Karev?

The implication is that we're just big ole balls of hormones who can't keep it in our proverbial pants. We're like magnets, which when placed in close proximity to each other, are compelled to collide.

As a girl who has always had close guy friends (including a few exes thrown in the mix), I know firsthand how rewarding a non-romantic relationship with someone of the opposite sex is. When your "person" doesn't share your gender, they bring added perspective into your life.

So despite the fact that I definitely swooned a little over Meredith and Alex on this week's episode of Grey's Anatomy, I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that the two remain just friends.

What about you? Are you rooting for Mer and Alex to get together?

Supernatural's Toni is the most dreadful villain Sam & Dean have faced yet

$

The British Men of Letters are out for some Winchester blood, so Sam, Dean and Mary better watch their backs. During Thursday's episode, Lady Toni Bevell proved to not only be absolutely dreadful, but an even bigger threat than Lucifer.

More: Supernatural's Mary and Dean are basically the same person

Obviously, Lucifer (who is now inhabiting the body of Vince Vicente, played by Rick Springfield) could take out both Toni and the Winchesters with one sweep of his hand, but at this point in time, Sam and Dean better worry about Toni and her London chapter. Who's with me when I say not only is Toni terrible, but one of the most awful villains yet? That said, I will say Elizabeth Blackmore does a splendid job in making me hate her character.

As teased since the Season 11 finale, the British Men of Letters don't appreciate how Sam and Dean have been hunting and causing havoc in the United States. What are they going to do about it? If need be, they'll just eliminate them altogether. Say what now? They're just going to terminate Sam and Dean, aka, two of the best and most heroic hunters out there saving the world? Granted, they've both made major mistakes and some big messes along the way, but they are still really good at their jobs. However, to get rid of them once and for all? Yeah, that's overkill if you ask me.

Thankfully, during tonight's episode, another member named Mick from the British Men of Letters put a stop to Toni and assured Sam and Dean that Toni would be dealt with appropriately for going too far in torturing both of them. He even extended somewhat of an olive branch by suggesting they form a partnership. Sam and Dean aren't jumping into anything too quickly and know these particular Men of Letters are bad news.

Mary Winchester & Toni Bevell
Image: Tumblr

More: All signs point to Supernatural's Mary being a total badass in Season 12

In addition to wanting to eliminate Sam and Dean, the British Men of Letters are also looking to stop the wrongdoings of American hunters and end the supernatural threat in the U.S. once and for all. Apparently, Toni was supposed to put that plan into motion by first identifying hunters and then gaining their trust. If she thinks Sam and Dean are ever going to trust her now, they most definitely won't.

Right now, Mick isn't itching to kill Sam and Dean, but Toni sure is. I'll bet she would get rid of them this very moment if she could, but Mick is holding the reins. Plus, it appears that if any dirty work needs to be done the still anonymous Mr. Ketch will be taking that role upon himself. He is also on his way to the States to help Toni and Mick, so now the Winchesters have him to worry about.

Here I thought Sam and Dean might have a season filled with fighting the supernatural and once again trying to put Lucifer back in the cage, not worrying about a Men of Letters chapter trying to tell them how to do their jobs (and possibly killing them in the process). Who am I kidding? Sam and Dean never get a chance to relax.

Supernatural airs Thursdays at 9/8c on The CW.

Chopped: Beat Bobby Flay needs less smack talk and more cooking

Confidence is a must for anybody who tries to go up against Bobby Flay, but there is such a thing as too much confidence — and several contestants went too far during tonight's episode of Chopped: Beat Bobby Flay.

More: What would Bobby Flay do? We asked him and got more than we expected

Mackenzie Hilton wasn't overly braggadocios, but once she was out, the other contestants went to town. I get that a lot of the smack talk was in good fun, but frankly, it started to get a bit distracting. I wanted to know more about what the contestants were preparing, and less about how they assumed they could easily beat the "redheaded Irish boy."

Bobby Flay
Image: Food Network

If I really want to hear people throwing unnecessary shade, I'll tune in for a new episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. A little smack talk is no big deal, but on a TV special such as Chopped: Beat Bobby Flay, the food should ultimately speak for itself. Unfortunately for tonight's boastful contestants, that was not always the case. They had a few small successes, but also received a lot of critiques, including mistakes that I guarantee their rival Bobby Flay would not have made.

More: Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis accused of rigging Food Network Star

For example: After boasting that his dish was the best (since the other contestants had barely any food on their plates), Bradley Stellings was accused of using too many potatoes, which according to one judge were not properly prepared. Instead of taking the critique in stride, Stellings made it clear that he disagreed.

More: Bobby Flay should have addressed Food Network Star contestant's racist comments

I was by no means the only person annoyed by the excessive bravado during the first round of competition on Chopped: Beat Bobby Flay. Several Twitter users expressed concern about the constants' throwing of shade.

I will concede this much: Part 1 winner Demetrio Zavala was actually able to back his overconfident language up with a few truly impressive creations. He has a history of aggression on Chopped, but he also knows what he's doing. This makes him a truly formidable competitor. Will he be able to get into Flay's head during the final showdown? My guess is no, but it will be interesting to see him try!

What did you think of the contestants on tonight's premiere of Chopped: Beat Bobby Flay? Did you find their smack talk entertaining? Or annoying?

Emily Ratajkowski is the type of judge Project Runway needs

$

The usual Project Runway judges are amazing, but after so many seasons, the show sometimes needs somebody fresh — and somebody who doesn't mindlessly agree with Heidi Klum. That's exactly what guest judge Emily Ratajkowski delivered during tonight's episode. After a season full of constant agreement from the judges, it was refreshing to finally see some differences in opinion.

Heidi Klum
Image: Lifetime

The item in question was a chandelier-inspired dress, which was designed to look both sparkly and sophisticated. According to Nathalia JMag, beaded fabric is the epitome of luxury. Unfortunately, she was forced to put it all together in less than four hours. As a result, the craftsmanship was, well, lacking. Furthermore, as Cornelius Ortiz aptly pointed out, the dress didn't really feel true to JMag's style.

More: There's more to Project Runway's Cornelius Ortiz than his bad attitude

Klum was not a fan of JMag's look; she said that it reminded her of a cheap dress that a teenager might buy at the mall. Ouch! The other judges echoed her opinion, complaining that it looked far from luxurious.

More: I hate to say it, but Tim Gunn was so wrong to trash Emily Ratajkowski's dress

Surprisingly enough, Ratajkowski was eager to defend JMag. She said that although there were some definite issues with the dress, it caught her attention. She found most of the other designs boring, so JMag's look was a breath of fresh air.

Project Runway
Image: Lifetime

Now, for full disclosure: I'm totally with Klum on this one. The dress just didn't have the high-fashion look I've come to expect from Project Runway's best and brightest designers. It would fit in better at Charlotte Russe or Wet Seal. That being said, the dress was definitely daring, which I firmly believe should be the goal on Project Runway. Nobody tunes in to see designers play it safe — viewers expect contestants to think outside the box and take risks.

JMag definitely did not play it safe, and for that, she should be commended. Her dress might not have stood out in a good way, but on a runway full of "safe" (read: boring) designs, it was nice to see something different.

More: Project Runway's swimsuits are not the way to inspire body confidence

I love when judges on any show have differing viewpoints. Yes, they are going to agree much of the time, but in an industry as subjective as fashion, I think it's valuable to hear various opinions. Kudos to Ratajkowski for speaking up!

Laverne Cox almost rescued the Rocky Horror Picture reboot, but not quite

$

I wanted to like the reboot of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I really did. I've loved many musical reboots before — even a few of the television remakes that have become trendy in recent years. I tried to give the new version a chance, but it just didn't have the quirky charm of the original.

More: 7 reasons The Rocky Horror Picture Show reboot is a terrible idea

One of the biggest problems is that The Rocky Horror Picture Show just doesn't work as well on a TV screen. It's all about the live shows, complete with glitz, glamour and a good dose of crazy. There's something about lounging on a couch in a sweatshirt that just detracts from the quality of the production, no matter how good (or in this case, bad) the sets and costuming are.

Laverne Cox
Image: FOX

The other problem, of course, was the acting (or at times, lack thereof). On a show that should be over the top, it often felt forced, and sometimes, dreadfully dull. The exception? Laverne Cox, who although not always perfect, offered up a few truly entertaining moments as Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

More: Let's face it — The Rocky Horror Picture Show just isn't as good in the 21st century

Obviously, there's no replacing Tim Curry, but Cox managed to bring her own flair to the television production. She was maniacal in some instances and soulful in others, but mostly, she was as sensual as could be. Her voice was nearly as impressive as her acting, although not quite as strong as Curry's. Ultimately, however, the best thing about Cox was not her acting or her singing, but rather, the way she rocked those costumes and that makeup. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is, at its core, a visual feast, and Cox clearly knows how to put on a show.

More: The hardest The Rocky Horror Picture Show quiz you'll ever take

I am one of several viewers who found plenty to love about Laverne Cox as Dr. Frank-N-Furter. There was a lot of trash talk on Twitter this evening, but also a surprising number of compliments from people who didn't expect to like anything at all about the reboot. These viewers were glad to be proven wrong on at least one count.

The women of SNL are killing it this season, and these sketches prove it

$

0

We're only three episodes into Season 42 of NBC's Saturday Night Live, but it's already clear that the women of SNL are bringing it this season.

More: Donald Trump's first presidential action would probably be canceling SNL

Yes, we all knew Kate McKinnon was great at impressions and that Cecily Strong can pretty much play anything, but whether it's election coverage or digital shorts, the female cast members of SNL have proven they're the ones to tune in for. Even with Alec Baldwin making headlines for being this season's Donald Trump, the women of SNL, particularly McKinnon as Hillary Clinton, have succeeded in overshadowing him episode after episode. So, what's their secret? Well, McKinnon, Strong, Aidy Bryant, Vanessa Bayer, Leslie Jones, Sasheer Zamata and newcomer Melissa Villaseñor are, first and foremost, talented comedic performers, but their appeal goes beyond just a talent for comedy.

There's something special about seeing a group of smart, funny ladies together that makes SNL better. It's true that each performer has their solo moments, but all in all, I think it's fair to say that the women of SNL deliver the best sketches when they are together, like in last weekend's standout Beyoncé parody "Melaniade." Bottom line: Together or apart, the women of SNL dominate week after week. Need proof? Here are the five best SNL sketches of the season featuring female performers.

More: Lin-Manuel Miranda's SNL skit about immigrants is a must-watch

1. "Melaniade"

SNL

SNL

Of course, this Beyoncé Lemonade parody is a must watch. Not only is it a fantastically faithful parody of "Sorry," it's also a wonderful way of doing a political skit in a creative way.

2. "A Day Off"

SNL

SNL

McKinnon's Kellyanne Conway is superb in this digital short and somehow she manages to find some empathy for Donald Trump's campaign manager.

3. "Mr. Robot"

SNL

SNL

I love Leslie Jones, and that love only grew when she overcame online bullies and returned to Twitter despite criminals hacking into her personal files and posting nude photos on her official website. But Jones didn't just refuse to let the trolls keep her offline. She made fun of the entire hack on SNL in this Mr. Robot parody! Talk about rising above it.

4. "Crucible Cast Party"

SNL

SNL

"Crucible Cast Party" was the first Saturday Night Live music video of the season, and boy was it good. Even though the highlight was, obviously, a braces-wearing Lin-Manuel Miranda, the hilariously awkward performances from Bayer, Bryant and McKinnon make it 100 percent gold.

5. "Chonk"

SNL

SNL

"Chonk" might be Saturday Night Live's best parody commercial in years. A brutal take on how the fashion industry tries to empower women while also knocking them down a peg, "Chonk" imagines a store that caters to all sizes and "unique" body types... CHONK. The men's store, of course, is just called "Normal Clothes." It's a smart, accurate and relatable sketch for any woman made greater by the women of SNL we all love.

More: Sorry, haters, Alec Baldwin's Donald Trump on SNL was damn near perfect

You might have noticed I chose not to include the debate sketches even though, yes, McKinnon's Clinton is perfection. There's a lot more to the women of SNL than just political sketches. And with the election (mercifully) coming to an end, we might be seeing less of McKinnon's wonderful Hillary Clinton. But thanks to these sketches, we know there's plenty more for her and the other women of SNL to do.

Don't you hate it when you hear that an actor you enjoy has a new show, only to discover the premise is totally disappointing? Enter Matt LeBlanc's new sitcom, Man with a Plan. The reviews are in, you guys, and — to speak colloquially — it ain't good.

Set to premiere on Monday, Oct. 24 at 8:30/7:30c in the evening, the new addition to CBS's roster stars LeBlanc as Adam Burns, a contractor who essentially becomes a stay-at-home dad when his wife, Andi, (Liza Snyder) goes back to work. For the first time in their children's lives, Dad is "in charge."

More: Matt LeBlanc opens up about his dark days after Friends

And predictably, he appears to comically fumble through it. Why is this predictable? Well, because it relies on tired old gender tropes that we've already seen in the sitcom world before — that parenting is a feminine gig, that men lack the inclination, etc.

In short, it rests in the fallacy that parenting comes more naturally to women and therefore being a hands-on dad emasculates a man. There aren't enough eye-rolls in the world to express the way I feel about CBS shortchanging such great comedic actors with a show built on easy, yet insidious stereotypes.

There are a few major problems inherent with Man with a Plan perpetuating this retro notion. For starters, it does dads a great disservice by implying they are at a natural disadvantage as parents. Newsflash: There are some men out there who are the only parent their kids have, and they rock it. Men can make phenomenal parents. Just like women can. You see where I'm going with this? Parenting shouldn't be qualified by gender. To suggest they are "less than" or "second-tier" to women as parents is denying them the credit they deserve.

Second, it's a cop out, y'all. Seriously. My sister and I, who both work from home with two small children, often have this conversation — men have been conditioned to believe that mothers are more adept at parenting, so it's more "our job" than theirs.

More: Matt LeBlanc will have big shoes to fill in his new role as Top Gear host

People who buy into this false narrative are the types who believe if someone has to stay home with the kids, it should default to the mother. Or if a child is sick, the mother must be the sole caregiver during said sickness due to her "nurturing" predisposition. You can use this line of thought to justify all kinds of lazy parenting if you'd like.

And then, there's the ridiculous crux of this entire comedic misadventure, which is that being involved in your children's lives isn't manly.

Because here's the truth: Not only are men just as capable of being amazing parents as women are, but it also doesn't make them any less "manly" for being phenomenal fathers. In fact, I think most people would probably agree that a father being invested in his kids' lives makes him more of a man.

Not in Man with a Plan's world, though. Rather, the sitcom juxtaposes LeBlanc's macho, Carhartt-wearing, clueless contractor dad with that of Lowell, an effeminate stay-at-home dad who waxes poetic about kindergarten classes and gets all googly-eyed over Adam's "alpha-male energy."

At one point, when Adam makes a crack about beer, Lowell straight-up says, "It's so nice to connect on a masculine level again."

So what conclusion are we left to draw other than the fact that being a hands-on dad emasculates a man? This isn't just an outdated notion; it's a reckless one. It makes it that much more difficult for families trying to transition into the father staying home or who already have a stay-at-home dad in the picture because it stigmatizes being a present father.

More: Friends fans, rejoice! Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry reunited

We should be past this thinking by now, right? I imagine the series fancies itself doing women a favor by bringing to light the fact that doing everything a mom does in the life of a child is hard work. Unless Man with a Plan moves beyond its superficial (and, if we're being honest, sexist) facade in the first few episodes, though, it's not doing anyone any favors.

Here's a wake-up call for all who think the U.S. has an immigration problem

America Divided took on the immigration problem in the United States tonight — or, rather, the lack of an immigration problem.

The most staggering statistic from the show tonight: Violent crime among undocumented immigrants is actually lower than in the general population.

More: America Divided is the look at inequality this country needs

So what does that mean?

To me, it means that there is too much fearmongering in our culture right now. Whether by politicians or the media, immigrants have been portrayed as the "bad guys" of society. (Oh, the horror of letting someone into our country who might do more good than harm.)

But the facts paint a very different picture.

It's a picture that suggests we let our bias against diversity influence our stance on immigration in a negative way. These immigrants, statistically, will contribute to society.

Since when did the United States stop being the land of opportunity and start being the country that doesn't want anyone to join us in our success?

Don't get me wrong. I love my country. I am a proud citizen of the United States of America. If I were in a lot of other countries, I wouldn't even be allowed to write this article. I don't take the freedoms I am afforded lightly. But it is for that reason that I am so pro-immigration. Other people should be afforded the same freedoms I have been fortunate enough to be born into.

More: How do we fix the broken U.S. education system showcased on America Divided?

And the system is broken. It is failing those seeking citizenship and villainizing those who want that citizenship.

Is coming into this country illegally OK? No. But can you really blame them for trying, considering what they're coming from?

Shark Tank investors went crazy for a new pet product, but is it that cool?

SiliDog pet tags entered Shark Tank tonight, and I thought at first that the company wasn't going to get a deal. Boy, was I wrong.

More: Shark Tank's Sharks go overboard with health product critiques

The brilliance behind the tags is that they're made using silicone, so they are noiseless and solve the clanking collar problem. But here's the thing: I have a dog, my friends have dogs and none of us have ever had a clanking problem to begin with. I even pooled some of them and asked for the sake of this article. No clanking. Why? Because we only have one tag, and it's small enough that it doesn't move around on the dog's neck.

It honestly seems to me like an old-school problem, especially considering all the dog fashion and accessories that are now in style.

Now, if SiliDog tags had been noiseless dog tags with tracking capabilities, I would have been all over that. I am waiting for one to debut that isn't so bulky and can track over longer distances. Right now, all the GPS dog trackers are either clunky collars or tags that don't have long-range capabilities, and I'm convinced there's a better way. I'm not talking about a microchip, which my dog already has implanted. I'm talking about a dog tag that would correspond to an app on my phone so I can see where my dog is at all times. It would be like Find My iPhone for your pet. They've got the start of this technology happening, but it hasn't really landed all the way just yet.

More: The Shark Tank Sharks don't need to force the drama

Maybe I'm just a crazy dog mom — OK, that's definitely a given — but I love taking my dog on off-leash adventures like hiking and the dog beach. Even though he's great at staying by my side the entire time (otherwise I wouldn't let him off leash), I still would like a GPS tracker as a safeguard. But I haven't found the right one yet to fit my lifestyle.

Side note: If any of you read this article and put this idea into action, I expect 20 percent equity and a free dog tag. A steal, I know. You're welcome.

When I first saw SiliDog enter the tank, I got excited because I thought the design was going to feature tracking. No dice.

That didn't seem to matter to the Sharks, though. They had a rocky start to the deals, but the fervor built until they sealed the deal with Lori Greiner for a sweet investment.

More: Shark Tank's Wally Amos didn't deserve a deal, but he does deserve success

Personally, I'm going to keep my traditional tag and hold out until there's finally one with tracking capabilities that won't take over my dog's neck.

Do you think the SiliDog tags are useful, or is it an invention of the past?

Amy Poehler's making a show you're going to want to watch with your mom

Two beloved comedy geniuses from two generations will be returning to the small screen soon, and we cannot freaking wait.

Comedy legend Carol Burnett will make her return to television on ABC as a star in a multicamera comedy that will be executive produced by fellow funny woman Amy Poehler.

Can you imagine the belly-cramping, tear-inducing laugh fests that we'll be having?

via GIPHY

The show will center around a family who gets the chance to buy an otherwise unaffordable house of their dreams on one condition: they live with the current owner until she dies. Burnett will play the owner, who is also an older actress.

Universal Television will create the series, and Poehler will executive produce under her company Paper Kite Productions, along with Brooke Posch, Dave Becky and Michael Pelmont.

More: Amy Poehler made us rethink how we treat ourselves and other women

Mad Men producer Michael Saltzman will also help write the show, which was given a large pilot budget by ABC.

Known for her roles on Parks and Recreation and SNL and movies such as Mean Girls, Poehler is no stranger to the comedy game.

Poehler — like Oprah, Dede Gardner and Shonda Rhimes — is helping pave the way for women as producers in the notoriously male-dominated television and film industry. The Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film determined that in 2015, programs with at least one woman executive producer and/or creator had a cast with 41 percent major female characters. This is compared to the 31 percent major female characters on programs with exclusively male producers. Not as even as we'd like, but we'll take it for now.

Burnett, who has enjoyed a six-decade-long career in the industry, is most famous for the numerous characters she portrayed on The Carol Burnett Show, a sketch comedy show similar in many ways to SNL that ran for over 10 years.

Most likely, if your parents were born in the '60s or earlier like mine, they are HUGE Carol Burnett fans. My mom loved the ridiculous characters she played — especially Mrs. Wiggins.

My mom even loved how the actors would break character to laugh at their own jokes.

Most recently, Burnett attended the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards, where Poehler and Tina Fey presented her with the Life Achievement Award.

Both women have paved the way for women in comedy, and we can't wait to see this duo create yet another powerhouse show that will hopefully become our new favorite.

OUAT's Hook & Emma really need to stop lying to each other

$

First David lied to Snow, and now Hook lies to Emma. What is wrong with these couples on Once Upon a Time? Of course there are going to be lies and secrets, because this is a TV show we're talking about. However, secrets tear people apart, and who wants to see either of these beloved OUAT romances break up? I certainly don't.

More: If Regina dies on OUAT, there's going to be a serious price to pay

Tonight's episode featured not only Jasmine and Aladdin's story, finally, but also a way that just might save Emma from what appears to be a tragic future. Based on what the oracle showed Emma, it seems like her destiny includes death. Guess what? Jafar also showed Aladdin (who is a savior like Emma) the same thing with his oracle bird.

That said, Jafar did give Aladdin a way out of his potential death. Thanks to the Three Fates, there is a pair of shears that are apparently a way for a savior to change their future. A savior can choose to use the shears by severing ties with their destiny. If the shears are used, that person will no longer be the savior, but they will supposedly live a prosperous and happy life.

All of this seems too good to be true because magic always comes with a price, right? That's probably one of the reasons Emma chose not to use the shears. After meeting up with Jasmine, Emma, Regina, Hook, and Henry partnered up with her to find Aladdin. He's been missing, but Regina created a potion that tied him to Emma, another savior, in hopes that it would lead them to him.

More: You know Robin's return to OUAT is gonna be bad, in a good way

Captain Swan
Image: Tumblr

Eventually, they wound up at a crypt, and Jasmine immediately thought Aladdin was indeed dead. However, he isn't. He is very much alive because he chose to use the shears given to him by Jafar. He then handed Emma the shears, but she'd rather find another way to save herself because she is the savior and she doesn't want to give up just yet. She is willing to pay whatever price comes with the magic she was gifted — though let's hope that doesn't mean her death.

So, Hook took the shears and told Emma that he buried them "thousands of leagues under the sea." Did he, though? No, he did not. That's right: Like Emma kept her future a secret from Hook, he is now keeping this secret from her. Like Snow told Emma, you can't build a life with someone if you keep secrets. Well, that's not happening with either Captain Swan or Snow and David.

They all need to stop lying to each other. I'm sure Hook is thinking the shears will save his one true love from death, but all of this could end up doing more harm than good. And what will happen when Emma finds out Hook lied to her and that he still has the shears? Lies tear couples apart, they don't bring them together.

Here's hoping all of this gets sorted out because I can't handle an unhappy ending for Emma and Hook.

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8/7c on ABC.

The Man in Black might not be the real villain of Westworld

$

0

Tonight in Episode 4 of Westworld, we learned more about the Man in Black (Ed Harris) and his mission in Westworld, and it did not disappoint.

More: Why is Westworld getting negative reviews? I freaking loved it

What did we learn?

Firstly the Man in Black is actually a hero in the real world. When the Man in Black met up with the bandits in tonight's episode, there was another human with the party. He recognized the Man in Black and credited him with saving his sister's life. He would have gone on if the Man in Black hadn't cut him off because he just wanted to enjoy his vacation in peace. Is the Man in Black some kind of revolutionary doctor then? A political leader? Maybe a military man? Whatever it is, he has clearly had a positive impact on people's lives.

Secondly, it was Dr. Ford's tragic partner Arnold that created the storyline the Man in Black is trying to uncover. The Man in Black is aware of Arnold's demise, which means that either he knew Arnold personally, he knows people closely connected to Dr. Ford and the company, or the story is legend in the outside world. I'm going with the guess that the Man in Black somehow knew Arnold. Maybe they were brothers or best friends? I think there is way more to that thread of information we learned about Arnold tonight.

More: The way Westworld introduced religion didn't go over well with fans

Thirdly, if the Man in Black can reach his destination, he might be the key to completely cognizant robots. The Man in Black made a comment tonight that suggested he was trying to help the hosts. When talking about Arnold's game, he suggested that the hosts would thank him for it. We also know Arnold had a closer affinity to the hosts than to humans themselves. This suggests that Arnold's last action before his death was creating the threads that are causing Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and Maeve (Thandie Newton) to remember. Perhaps, the Man in Black himself is the one encouraging this awareness and, thereby, fulfilling Arnold's final wishes.

I, personally, still think the Man in Black is a sadistic dude who loves murdering and raping women. I am not trying to excuse his history with Dolores and other hosts in the park. The show, at it's core, does seem to be about the evil within humans. But in exploring that evil, it seems the show may present multiple faces to people. Just because the Man in Black likes hurting hosts on the one hand doesn't mean there isn't also some good to his presence in Westworld.

His mission to find the heart of Westworld might be a way for him to gain power within the park. We know, thanks to this episode, that the board does not trust Dr. Ford. What if the Man in Black is on the board? What if he doesn't trust Dr. Ford and knew Arnold? What if Arnold directed him on this final storyline because he trusts the Man in Black to protect the legacy he intended for Westworld?

More: Westworld's strange happenings paint a bigger picture for Season 1

More and more questions only means we're headed for a better and better first season of Westworld. Man, this show is brilliant.

Do you think the Man in Black's mission to the heart of Westworld might actually be based in pure intentions or is he all evil?

The Walking Dead's Season 7 premiere claimed [SPOILER]'s life, and we're not OK

Everything hurts and I'm dying — The Walking Dead returned with a truly horrifying Season 7 premiere, and fans may never fully recover from the emotional atrocities that occurred.

Before we go any further, suffice it to say that spoilers will soon follow. This is your official spoiler alert, people. If you haven't yet watched the Season 7 premiere, well, gird your emotions... you're in for a rough ride. But also, be warned I'm about to reveal some pertinent plot points.

Now, let's try to get through this together, shall we?

For months, we've all seen/heard/read the spoilers. Don't pretend like you never took a peek; we all did. It was impossible not to because, as fans, we're all so incredibly invested in these characters. It somehow made it seem like it would hurt less if you knew who was going to die ahead of time.

Alas, 'twas not so. There was quite literally a spoiler (which we covered, right here) predicting the exact sequence of horrific events that unfolded on the premiere, and yet it was still gutting. Nothing could have prepared us, in fact, for the emotional punch in the feels watching the episode delivered.

More: Norman Reedus might be a walking dead man after his prank on Andrew Lincoln

This brings us to an important sidebar. Can we give Jeffrey Dean Morgan some major props? When the actor was first cast as the nefarious villain Negan, there was some clap-back from fans of the comic universe about whether or not Morgan was the right fit. There was also talk about whether or not Morgan would ultimately wind up a watered-down version of the Negan from the comics.

I think it's safe to say we can lay any and all doubts to rest, you guys — for better or worse, Morgan's Negan is far more sinister than anything we could have imagined. So, uh, kudos to Morgan, I suppose. Thus begins a long relationship of simultaneously loving and hating a character so much it hurts.

Speaking of hurting, the time has come to say goodbye to not one but two of our beloved heroes. I can put it off no longer, so R.I.P. Abraham and Glenn. With you, a little bit of my soul goes to the great beyond.

How did we get to this point? As you remember from the Season 6 finale, Rick and his crew were intercepted by Negan's men while trying to get Maggie to a doctor. Needing to establish dominance, Negan knew he had to break Rick's spirit. And the quickest way to do that was to pick off one of the people who meant the most to Rick.

More: The Walking Dead's new series regulars could be a bad sign for our heroes

With that first sickening blow of his barbwire-wrapped baseball bat, Negan cracked Abraham's skull. In true Abraham fashion, he eked out "Suck my nuts" before succumbing to repeated blows to the brain. For the record, those blows were by far the most nauseating thing we've ever seen on The Walking Dead, and I think we all know that is saying a lot.

That loss, in and of itself, was devastating. For his one-liners alone, Abraham was an inimitable member of the crew. But he was also the strong-arm of the group — the guy who Rick relied on to help keep everyone safe and to be at the front of the battle lines.

The second loss, though? It was almost too much to bear.

After Negan taunted Rosita using the bat still dripping with Abraham's blood, Daryl lost his cool and punched Negan. At first, it seemed as though this might end badly for Daryl, and you could practically hear the collective gasp of fans the world over.

Then, Negan's men returned Daryl to the line, and it seemed as though he may forgive that lapse of composure. Until, that is, he hauled off and popped Glenn in the top of the head with that unholy bat of death he has dubbed Lucille. Sputtering over the blood running down his own face (which includes an eyeball bulging out of its socket), Glenn mustered four final words: "I'll find you, Maggie."

What the fresh hell? BRB; just need to go call my editors and tell them I won't be able to come to work tomorrow because I'll be too busy mourning the untimely end of one of the greatest TV couples ever.

More: TWD's Lauren Cohan discusses her new role and why she embraces being 'complicated'

As if all of this wasn't enough to make anyone give up adulting for the week, TWD finished us off with a flash-forward to a future that will now never happen — the whole gang sitting around a farmhouse table, sharing a meal. Sitting on Glenn's lap is his and Maggie's little boy.

Heart, meet a thousand daggers.

Perhaps the most terrifying thing about the premiere is the fact that it is, you know, the premiere. We have an entire season's worth of emotional torture at the hands of Negan to endure.

So while deep down I love creator Robert Kirkman and showrunner Scott M. Gimple, right now I'm going to have to take a page from the late, great Abe's book and say, "Suck my nuts."

Let's hope in Law and Order: SVU world, Brock Turner gets what he deserves

Law and Order: SVU has never shied away from the controversial cases we see in the news.

More: SVU's latest episode makes us feel even worse about Steven Avery's conviction

And now, our favorite detective, Olivia Benson, is about to take on the SVU world version of Brock Turner, a real-life rapist who, because of his supposedly bright future, only served about three months in prison after being convicted of felony sexual assault.

Most of us know the horrific details of Turner's story by now. He, a star swimmer on the Stanford University team, found an unconscious 22-year-old woman behind a dumpster late at night and decided to have his way with her. Turner was interrupted during the act by two international students, who chased and tackled him when he tried to run. One of them cried recounting the story to police because what he had seen Turner doing to the woman was so horrific.

Despite there being two eyewitnesses in the case, Turner wasn't even tried for actual rape, only felony sexual assault after two rape charges initially filed against him were dropped. He was convicted on three counts, and after prosecutors recommended six years in prison, Judge Aaron Persky sentenced Turner to just six months. He was released after three.

More: Law & Order: SVU's Olivia Benson has been the strongest woman on TV for 17 years

Now, the universe where Law And Order: SVU takes place is a lot safer for women than the real world, because there, women are taken seriously, their stories are believed and they're treated with respect by police who give everything they've got to put rapists behind bars. It's a stark difference from real life, where less than 1 percent of accused rapists will ever see a jail cell.

Image: Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network

But according to a promo for the Brock Turner-inspired episode of the series, there will (obviously) be a wrench thrown into things. Apparently, guest star Anthony Edwards will play the sergeant who was Benson's first-ever SVU partner, and it's his son who's accused of the rape. The video shows him asking Benson for help getting his son off without punishment.

SVU Brock Turner preview

Luckily, the Benson we know and love would never let that fly. It's why we watch the show — because seeing someone advocate so tirelessly for victims of sexual assault gives us a nice break from real life, where that's woefully rare.

Even if you gave up on Vampire Diaries, you should still watch the final season

$

As The Vampire Diaries kicks off its eighth and last season, it’s hard not to think of Elena and Nina Dobrev, the actress that played her. When The Vampire Diaries (TVD) first premiered in 2009, Elena was the show’s main character, and her love triangle with vampire brothers Stefan and Damon was the main plot. Now that the end is in sight, it looks like Elena is coming back to The Vampire Diaries. At least, we hope she is.

More: Nina Dobrev announces Vampire Diaries exit with 23 photos and a sweet message

Will Elena return to The Vampire Diaries?

Elena GilbertImage: Psycho Pierce/Tumblr

Dobrev left The Vampire Diaries at the end of Season 6 in what was reported as an amicable departure. There were no major contract disputes or offscreen spats. Dobrev just decided to leave the show, and creators Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec wrote Elena’s departure ensuring that she could return. After it was announced that this would be the final season of TVD, fans have been demanding to know if they can expect Elena’s return to Mystic Falls.

Dobrev has returned to TVD before. Last year, she recorded some new dialogue for the season finale, and it seems that the creative minds behind TVD are confident she’ll come back again for the final season. In August, The CW President Mark Pedowitz told reporters that the studio was in discussions with Dobrev. “We’d love to have Nina back. She was great for The CW. She was integral for The Vampire Diaries,” he said. But, don’t get too excited! Pedowitz added that if negotiations fall through, “Julie [Plec] has planned a great series finale.” Based on Pedowitz’s statements, we know two things: 1) Elena could most definitely return to The Vampire Diaries, and 2) if Elena does come back, it will probably be for the series finale.

More: The Vampire Diaries will be remembered as so much more than a teen drama

Is there hope for Delena?

Elena and Damon
Image: Amazing OTP Moments/Tumblr

Delena fans will probably be over the moon by the news of Elena’s potential, and very possible, return. After all, when Dobrev left the show, Elena was, essentially, suspended in a death-like state just when her relationship with Damon was finally up and running. But, if Ian Somerhalder, the actor behind Damon, has any say in it, Delena will not be the endgame every fan is hoping for. “These guys have ruined her life, and yet everybody wants her to end up with one of them,” Somerhalder said in an interview with TVLine. His dream ending is that, instead of a happily ever after, Damon and Stefan “go sit on a beach and take of their [daylight] rings and…” (In other words he wants Stefan and Damon to commit vampire suicide together and leave everyone else in peace. Something tells me, that's not how this show is going to end.)

Will Steroline make it?

Caroline and Stefan
Image: Damnsteroline/Tumblr

Now, if you’re a Steroline fan, you’re probably also not looking forward to Elena’s return. The show began as Elena’s love story with Stefan, and it could very well end that way, which would mean the death of Caroline and Stefan’s relationship. But, rest assured, based on an interview with Candice King, who plays Caroline, other people might get in the way before Elena has the time to come back. “Stefan is so attached to protecting and saving Damon. He’ll always choose his brother first, and that’s going to be a really big thing for this couple,” King told TVLine.

Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan, said that, while Stefan and Caroline “start off pretty strong,” the couple still has a few hurdles ahead. "t kind of spins out of control,” Wesley told TVLine. Wesley expanded, saying, “It can get dark for a second. But the ultimate thing is, ‘Will the end up together?’ And that, I actually don’t know.” So, it looks like Steroline will start the season strong, and hit a few roadblocks early on in the season — not surprising considering the first episode back ended with Caroline moving in with Stefan and the appearance of a mysterious, new big bad.

More: The Vampire Diaries finale was so heartbrakingly romantic I can't stand it

All in all, as is the way of The Vampire Diaries, it looks like things are going to get a lot harder for Stefan, Damon, Caroline, and the rest of the gang before it gets better. But, I think I speak for all fans when I say that if we get Elena back at the end of the series, all the heartache will be worth it.

The Voice's duo curse continues with Whitney & Shannon's elimination

It's no secret that duos struggle on The Voice. The Swon Brothers were a notable exception, but otherwise, several remarkable duets have been dropped from the competition far too early. This unfortunate trend occurred during tonight's Knockouts, when the talented duo Whitney & Shannon were passed over by Alicia Keys — and not stolen by any of the other coaches.

I was definitely disappointed in Keys, but I know that it was a tough choice. She saw a lot of potential in Whitney & Shannon's competitor, Kylie Rothfield, who, frankly, is the only musician of her kind this season. But should category trump talent? And if it does, what about giving Whitney & Shannon a little credit for working so well as a team?

Keys did speak highly of the sisters — and it was clear that she agonized over this decision. However, her praise and difficulty in choosing were little consolation for Whitney & Shannon when they learned that, like so many duos before, they would be going home without experiencing the joy of performing in the live shows.

I'm all in favor of duos on The Voice, and I think that, in most cases, they don't receive the credit they deserve. But my opinion is fairly controversial. A lot of viewers seem to think that the show's duos are hugely overrated, and that they actually have an unfair advantage over other competitors. Maybe, but I think their unfortunate track record on the show indicates otherwise. At any rate, I find duos refreshing. I like seeing the dynamic between the artists (especially when they're siblings) and, after so many seasons, anything different on The Voice is good in my book.

I hope that Whitney & Shannon continue to make music together. It would be unfortunate if this unfair elimination kept them from achieving the musical success they deserve. I also hope that their elimination does not deter other duos from attempting to gain musical glory on The Voice. As far as I'm concerned, the more, the merrier!
