Did Grey's Anatomy's Alex Karev just confirm he's leaving the show?

$

0

Welp, I'm convinced. The Fall 2016 TV season is trying to kill us all. The latest clue? This week's episode of Grey's Anatomy, in which beloved character Alex Karev may very well have confirmed his departure from the veteran ABC series.

But let's zip back in time a minute, shall we?

The week started off on a brutally bad note with the Season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead on Sunday. If you watched it, you know what I'm talking about. If you don't, be forewarned — it will break your effing heart.

So coming into Grey's this week, I was looking for a little levity. Sure, the show deals largely in drama, but it pinch hits on the feel-good roster, too.

More: Could Shonda Rhimes be staging a Grey's Anatomy spinoff for Karev?

But nope. Or, to be more precise, hell nope. This was not that episode, which became painfully apparent early on when Alex ran into a pregnant lady at his court hearing and was alarmed by a rash on her hands.

Fast forward into the episode a bit after said woman has stopped into the Denny Duquette Memorial Clinic that Alex is currently running, and we find out she has advanced pancreatic cancer. Prognosis = not good.

There were other disturbing on-goings at the hospital we could discuss, like how cozy Jo and DeLuca have gotten (already?!). Or how Katherine wants to stage a coup and kick her own husband, Dr. Webber, out of his job as director of the residency program.

Let's be real, though: this week's episode was really about Alex.

The entire episode was peppered with moments guaranteed to make us love him more. The way he fought for his patient, even to the detriment of his own career. The way he was there for Amelia in a way she didn't even know she needed. The way he is with Meredith.

More: Japril is toying with my emotions on Grey's Anatomy, I'm sure of it

This brings us to the final scene. Meredith is in her bed, reading a book, when Alex peeks his head in. Seeing it's all clear, he flops down on the bed beside her. She asks him about how court went (yes, please put us out of our misery and tell us what happened), to which he replied, "It was fine."

Then, seemingly out of the blue, he says, "I want do waffles. On Sundays — all of us, like a family. For as long as we can."

Screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech.

Do you hear that? It's the sound of me pumping the metaphorical brakes. Wait, dear sweet Alex, what do you mean "for as long as we can." What happened at that hearing, Alex? That sounded a lot like a departure confirmation.

Since Alex doesn't explicitly spell out what went down during his hearing (over attacking DeLuca), we're left to interpret. And it doesn't look good for our hero when he tells Mer she needs to be nicer to Amelia because he won't always be around.

It's in this moment I actually Googled "hugging chair," because c'mon... I just need someone to hold me for a little while. Or, you know, sedate me. Whatevs, I'm not picky.

So what does this mean for Grey's moving forward? Again, it's still too gosh damn early to tell, which sounds ridiculous considering we're already six episodes into an arc that started at the close of last season. If it means we get more time with Alex, though, we'll take it. Right?

More: Dear Grey's Anatomy, please don't try to make Meredith and Alex hook up

There's been radio silence on Justin Chambers' part as to whether or not he is leaving the show. This makes sense, because they obviously have to keep these things shrouded in secrecy so as not to dilute the suspense of the season.

I've suggested Shonda Rhimes could be setting his character up for a spin-off, and I'm basically hoping and praying (and begging) that's how this whole story line plays out. I also think it's highly possible Chambers is simply choosing to move on and pursue other opportunities.

For that, we can't blame him. I mean, don't get me wrong — we totally do, and we'll be salty about it until the end. Alas, we still adore him. Just like Mer, we can't quit Alex Karev.

What do you think? Did Alex just confirm he's leaving?

Supernatural’s Mary leaving Sam & Dean is devastating, but I totally get it

Mary's barely been back and she's already breaking hearts. In Thursday's Supernatural, Mary did the unthinkable and left. That's right, she returns from the dead and then leaves Sam and Dean all over again. It's as devastating as it sounds, but before you start hating on Mama Winchester, hear her out.

More: Supernatural's Toni is the most dreadful villain Sam & Dean have faced yet

It's no secret that Mary's been struggling since Amara resurrected her. She's returned to a completely different time period, her baby boys are all grown up, her love John Winchester is dead, her family is still a hunting family and the world around her is something she just doesn't understand.

Dean has pretty much been living in denial and has even been somewhat naive about it all. Although, Sam recognizes Mary's struggles. He even told Dean that their mom is trying to bury herself in hunting so she doesn't have to deal with her issues. Sam has been there, done that, so who better to relate to Mary?

Despite realizing their mom is having a hard time adapting to her new life, I'm pretty sure Sam and Dean never thought that their mom would leave them all over again. Granted, the first time wasn't by choice, because she was killed by Azazel. However, the second time was completely Mary's decision.

Not only does Mary miss John and the Sam and Dean she remembers, but she also misses their home. As she told her boys, "I'm still mourning everyone as I knew them." Of course she loves Sam and Dean, but it's also hard for her to be around them, because each moment she spends with them reminds her of all the moments she lost with her baby Sam and her little boy Dean.

More: Supernatural's Mary and Dean are basically the same person

Mary admitted she thought hunting would help alleviate the pain and emotions she's dealing with, but it hasn't. So, her temporary solution is to leave for a bit. She just needs "a little time" to find herself, her place and figure out where she belongs. Not to mention, Mary surely needs time to come to terms with everything that's happening and all of the changes she's experienced.

Don't get me wrong, Dean's heartbreaking look at seeing his mom walk out of the bunker was exteremely difficult to watch. Then, to see Mary hug Sam goodbye was heartwrenching. I would love for Mary to stay with Sam and Dean, rather than go off on her own. They just get their mom back after so many years and to be without her again? Well, it doesn't seem fair.

That said, I totally get where Mary is coming from. If she doesn't find happiness within herself and begin her healing process, then she is not only going to be miserable, but she won't be any good for Sam and Dean. This is the way it has to be done. Also, the way Mary's handling all of this is realistic as well, so I applaud Supernatural for not just making Mary this flawess character who is 100 percent perfect after being dead for 30 plus years. This is how most peope would probably deal with this type of situation.

Let's just hope Mary can begin living a happy life and eventually start doing it with Sam and Dean by her side.

Brik Allen did not deserve his early Project Runway elimination

$

Some Project Runway stars have impeccable style but terrible personalities (ahem, Cornelious Ortiz). And others are never quite at the top of the heap, but you still root for them because they are so darn lovable. This was definitely the case for Brik Allen. I love the guy and have ever since he announced "I'm Brik, I love bricks." I'm willing to concede that his work is not the best of the bunch on Project Runway, but it's not so bad that he was deserving of being sent home this week.

More: I hate to say it, but Tim Gunn was so wrong to trash Emily Ratajkowski's dress

Project Runway

Allen has always been one of the more likable guys on Project Runway, albeit not one of the most successful. He manages to hang in there, but rarely excites the judges as Erin Robertson and Laurence Basse have week after week. That being said, he has a lot of really intriguing ideas. He just needs more guidance. That was evident this week, when he tried to pull off the urban jungle look, but got mixed up with way too many uncoordinated prints. The look was a bit odd, but not terrible; he worked super hard to get the fit just right.

More: There's more to Project Runway'sCornelius Ortiz than his bad attitude

Project Runway designers aren't judged on personality, nor should they be. The show should be all about who puts the best (and worst) looks on the runway each week. Even when you go purely by this metric, Allen didn't deserve to be eliminated. His urban jungle look wasn't perfect, but it was far from the worst to hit the runway. You could even argue that it was innovative and edgy — and isn't that what the judges are supposed to reward on Project Runway? Instead, they compared Allen's design to a shower curtain and claimed to "have no idea who [Allen] is and what he stands for." Ouch!

I'm sad that Allen is out of the running, but I'm excited for the other challenges this excellent season of Project Runway has in store. And I'm convinced that, if he receives the mentoring he needs, Allen will go far, with or without a Project Runway victory.

A broken ice cream machine changed lives on Chopped: Beat Bobby Flay

The old expression "a good craftsman never blames his tools" definitely applies in the kitchen, where chefs must be able to improvise quickly when an important kitchen appliance breaks down. On tonight's episode of Chopped: Beat Bobby Flay, the notoriously unreliable ice cream maker ended up costing Chef Cory Morris his shot at besting Bobby Flay, allowing Seis Kamimura to steal the victory.

More: What would Bobby Flay do? We asked him and got more than we expected

Morris and Kamimura had their hands full this evening, as Flay did them no favors with the odd assortment of ingredients he picked out. Corn nuts, icebox cake and canned tropical fruit belong in Grandma's kitchen, not on an intense reality TV cooking contest. However, the two chefs were able to make it to the finals by getting creative with ingredients that were used more for texture than for taste. It certainly looked like the two prior Chopped champions were neck and neck going into the final challenge, in which they were tasked with creating a dessert consisting primarily of plums, pancakes and crème fraîche.

Chopped Judges

Morris had a great game plan, but unfortunately for him, all the skill in the world couldn't save his creation from the dreaded ice cream machine. It's not the first time the device has ruined dreams on Chopped, nor will it be the last.

More: Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis accused of rigging Food Network Star

Since Morris dumped his entire stockpile of crème fraîche into the ice cream, he needed to find a way to salvage it. His solution (turning it into a butter for the pancakes) left a lot to be desired, and the judges didn't seem too thrilled about being served a failed attempt at ice cream masquerading as butter. This miscue proved costly for Morris, who found himself on the chopping block.

More: Bobby Flay should have addressed Food Network Star contestant's racist comments

Kids love ice cream, but it's possibly that Kamimura's kids love ice cream even more after tonight's events! After all, Kamimura said that he plans to use the $40,000 in prize money from the show to start a college fund for his four children. Of course, he still needs to beat Bobby Flay in order to claim the money, and if he wants to do that, he should know by now that he can't rely on the ice cream maker to come through in the clutch!

Watching Erin Bates' childbirth will convince you to get an epidural

The Bates family has added another member, and we got to be front and center for the delivery on Bringing Up Bates tonight.

More: The new Bringing Up Bates baby name shouldn't come as a surprise

Erin Bates Paine and her husband Chad Paine welcomed little Brooklyn Elise into the world at the beginning of August 2016, but the episode just aired on the family's show.

Whitney Bates, Zach's wife, also recently gave birth to their second baby Kaci Lynn, and I have to say, I think Erin's delivery was way more up close and personal, though both allowed cameras inside the delivery room.

Like with Whitney's birth, I cried. Of course I cried.

But with Erin's, it was a little more intense. She had a high-risk pregnancy and was very nervous going into labor. Luckily, all was well because she got a trusty epidural. She was in so little pain, in fact, that she had to check with the doctor repeatedly to see if it was time to push.

More: Michaela Bates Keilen clearly has baby fever

"All I could do was cry," Erin said of the moment when Brooklyn was finally born. "I was so happy!"

"Seeing Brooklyn for the first time was definitely a dream come true," Chad added. "Just seeing Erin hold her and then getting to hold her for the first time and watching her eyes open and just look around and stare just in wonder, it was like a little bit of heaven on Earth."

The most heartwarming part of the whole experience, though, happened after the delivery. With happy, healthy Mom and baby Brooklyn Elise all good to go, Chad and Erin's son Carson was allowed in the room to meet his baby sister.

"Baby sissy's here," Erin said, showing Carson the new baby.

More: Whitney Bates' pregnancy made me cry twice on Bringing Up Bates

Carson promptly gave Brooklyn Elise a very sweet kiss, and my heart melted. Erin's face perfectly captured the moment.

What people aren't saying about Jennifer Lopez's Bye Bye Birdie role

$
0
0

Jennifer Lopez is hopping onto the television musical train with Bye Bye Birdie Live! Lopez will star in the 1960s musical as Rosie Alvarez for a live production to air on NBC in 2017.

The news that Lopez is coming to live musical television is surprising to some. After all, Lopez is a superstar with a recording career, a fashion line and her own television show (Shades of Blue, which she also produces). But, according to NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt, despite her busy schedule, Lopez was the one who brought Bye Bye Birdie to them. "She came to us and said 'I love this show, I discovered the music,'" Greenblatt told reporters when announcing the news. The musical will be NBC's fifth live musical event, following A Sound of Music Live!, Peter Pan Live!, The Wiz Live! and the upcoming Hairspray Live!.

More: The reason Jennifer Lopez & Casper Smart split is sadder than we thought

The news that Lopez will be starring in a live musical production is exciting, not just for viewers, but for Lopez herself. "Broadway musicals and films fueled my childhood and Bye Bye Birdie was one of my favorites," Lopez said in a statement. But as exciting as all of this is for musical theater lovers, the news is also notable for one reason many haven't mentioned yet: Lopez will be the first Latina to play the role of Rosie Alvarez in an onscreen production of Bye Bye Birdie.

The character or Rosie Alvarez originated on Broadway in 1960, first performed by Chita Rivera, a groundbreaking Latina actor, and yet in the two film adaptations of Bye Bye Birdie, the roles were not played by Latina actors. In perhaps the most famous take on Bye Bye Birdie, a movie musical released in 1963 starring Ann-Margret and Dick Van Dyke, the role of Rosie Alvarez was played by Janet Leigh. Leigh, best known for her iconic role in Psycho, is a white woman known for her blond hair and fair complexion. For the film, she wore dark hair and makeup to darken her complexion. And in 1995, Vanessa Williams took on the role in a made-for-TV movie.

More: Laverne Cox almost rescued the Rocky Horror Picture reboot, but not quite

Janet Leigh in Bye Bye Birdie

Janet Leigh in Bye Bye Birdie

It's shocking to think that Lopez will be the first Latina to play Rosie onscreen. But then again, musicals, especially classics likely to end up on television in this live production trend, are traditionally white-dominated productions, reflecting the historical trends of the time. And even if characters of color were featured in musicals, they were frequently whitewashed in motion picture adaptations, as seen in Bye Bye Birdie and West Side Story. In the live musical trend, however, networks have consistently been pushing for increased diversity. In 2015, following a bit of backlash for the overwhelmingly white productions of A Sound of Music and Peter Pan, NBC decided to produce The Wiz, a famous black musical. Meanwhile, Fox featured a diverse cast in their production of Grease and recently aired their version of A Rocky Horror Picture Show starring Laverne Cox.

More: Grease Live!: All 12 musical numbers from the electrifyin' show (VIDEOS)

Diverse casting for televised musicals should not be revolutionary. And yet, it continues to be a surprising and, hopefully, inspiring practice. Rosie was a revolutionary character when she originated in 1960, and now, with Lopez taking her to the small screen, she is once again making history and breaking barriers in the musical theater world. One can only hope that nonmusical television continues this trend of diversity in casting.

Twitter's wrong about Gilmore Girls — Logan is the right man for Rory

Ever since a Gilmore Girls revival was announced, fans have been trying to determine who Rory will end up with. Will it be her first love, Dean? Will it be bad boy, Jess? Will it be the man who proposed to her, Logan? Will it be no one? Will it be someone completely new?

More: Lorelai & Rory be damned! Jess, Dean, Sookie & Logan are back in new Gilmore Girls trailer

Let's hope it's not the latter, because that would just be beyond disappointing. She has to end up with one of the three guys who had her heart at one time when the series aired. It appears Twitter is convinced Rory and Jess will end up together based on the revival's trailer, but are we so sure he's the right choice?

Did Jess have more lines in the Gilmore Girls trailer (watch below, if you've yet to see it) compared to Dean and Logan? He sure did, though that doesn't mean anything. Maybe Netflix is trying to mislead fans and convince them Rory and Jess are the endgame by featuring him more heavily than Logan and Dean. The fact that both Dean and Logan were only seen for a brief second actually speaks volumes. That could be the show's way of avoiding spoilers because either of them could be Rory's OTP.

So who is? It's definitely Logan. Don't get me wrong. Jess is great, but Logan makes way more sense. As for Dean? He can just go away and stay away. Now, back to the man who deserves to end up with Rory.

Gilmore Girls revival trailer

Gilmore Girls revival trailer

Like both Dean and Jess, Logan definitely had his flaws, was a jerk at times and was nowhere near perfect. That said, he had some really great qualities, which is why he's the best fit for Rory — and here's why.

1. He evolved

Out of all three of Rory's loves, Logan is the one who evolved the most and the one fans got to watch grow as a person. He started off as this rich and selfish boy who turned into a man who not only wanted more for himself (he even walked away from his life of privilege), but also wanted to see Rory succeed. Logan evolved positively by the end of the series and proved he deserves to be with Rory forever.

2. He pushed Rory to take risks

On more than one occasion, Rory went out of her comfort zone thanks to Logan. Though, let's forget about that time she got arrested for stealing a yacht. When a significant other pushes you in ways that makes you feel uncomfortable, but also fearless at the same time, then you know he/she is right for you. Who wants to be with someone who is exactly like them and where nothing fun or spontaneous ever happens?

3. He's a combination of both good and bad

Logan was a nice mix of both a "good guy" and a "bad guy." As for Dean, he was just annoyingly good all the time and Jess, well, he was definitely the quintessential "bad boy." Who wants someone who is one or the other when you can be with someone like Logan, who is a mix of both?

4. He has a lot in common with Lorelai

They may not always have seen eye to eye, but Logan and Lorelai actually have a lot in common. Mainly, they both grew up in a world of privilege and both chose to leave it to do things their own way. After Lorelai got pregnant with Rory, she left home to raise her daughter by herself and succeed without her parents ruling her life. Logan came to the conclusion he wanted to work hard and become a success all by himself, which was truly admirable. It's sometimes said that we'll end up with someone similar to our parents, and seeing as Logan and Lorelai have so much in common, that's just another reason Rory and Logan are meant to be.

Rory and Logan
Image: Tumblr

More: QUIZ: Think you're the biggest Gilmore Girls fan? Prove it!

5. He put Rory's wants and needs first

Near the end of the final season, remember when Logan visited Stars Hollow with Rory? She was trying to decide whether to go for the fellowship at The New York Times or take the job at the Providence Journal. Rather than telling Rory what to do or tell her what he wanted her to do, Logan told her to make her own decision based on what she wanted for herself. Then, they could factor each other into wherever they ended up. Did anyone else just swoon all over again?

6. He loved Rory for exactly who she is

Despite their different backgrounds and views, Logan never factored any of that into how much he loved Rory. He loved her for her mistakes, her quirkiness, her love of junk food, her pros and cons lists, her upbringing and everything else that made Rory so lovable.

More: Gilmore Girls reboot: Where did the relationships end?

7. He wanted the best for their relationship

After Logan proposed to Rory and she said no, he said something that proved how much he wanted their relationship to be healthy and succeed. Rory wanted to do long-distance, but Logan refused. He didn't want to live that kind of life with the woman he wanted to spend forever with. By Logan wanting all of Rory or none of Rory, it showed he really did want them to thrive as a couple. It also showed maturity. He stayed true to what he wanted, just like Rory did by not wanting to get married at that point in her life. Long-distance can be hard and he recognized that. Who knows if he regrets his decision? But based on that choice, Logan clearly wanted only the best for both of them.

Here's hoping Logan and Rory find their way back to one another in the revival because it's the only 'ship that makes sense.

New theory: What if Chandler Massey returns to Days of Our Lives permanently?

$

Chandler Massey is one of Days of Our Lives' most beloved cast members in recent history. When he left in 2013 to return to school and pursue other acting opportunities, fans were heartbroken.

More: Soap fans hate product placements, but General Hospital doesn’t care

A recent blind gossip item on Jason47 Days Facebook page is alluding to the fact that another character is returning to DOOL soon. We’ve already speculated that Alison Sweeney is quite possibly one of them. Could Massey be the second?

There’s a bit of a challenge in Massey returning because when Guy Wilson took over the role, the character of Will Horton was killed by the Necktie Killer in 2015. How do you bring Massey back for a cameo or as a contract player?

Well, we all know no one is ever really dead on daytime television. If DOOL writers want to bring Massey back, they will find a way. And if Sweeney is returning to the fold for an appearance, it’s possible that he could too.

More: Today took some liberties in the Arianne Zucker interview

Sweeney was vocal about DOOL writers killing off the character. She told TV Guide Magazine’s Michael Logan in June that she would “certainly consider” coming back to DOOL if her on-screen son returned from the dead.

I thought it was a huge mistake to kill Will, especially for the show's 50th anniversary. It still makes me angry when I think about it,” she explained.

We also can’t forget that Massey's former manager Jeffrey Ballard certainly teased DOOL fans in February with this cryptic post on Facebook.

More: Too many of us have walked in the same shoes as DOOL star Arianne Zucker

“I can neither confirm nor deny that my former client and good friend, three-time Daytime Emmy Award-winning actor Chandler Massey will be returning to his role of Will Horton on Days of our Lives later this year,” Ballard wrote. “I guess you will all have to keep watching!

Could all of the pieces be falling into place with the recent clues floating around the internet? Massey has several projects currently in post-production, but he isn’t tied to anything that might keep him away from returning to DOOL.

Let’s hope this is a positive sign Massey is stepping back into the daytime-TV fold.

Would you be happy if Massey was back on DOOL? Let us know in the comments below!

It's official — Chicago P.D.'s Burgess is finally getting a promotion

It's only taken four seasons, but Burgess is finally getting a much-needed, much-deserved promotion on Chicago P.D.

More: Next time a real creep won't leave you alone, refer to Sophia Bush's letter

On Wednesday's episode, Burgess approached Voight and again voiced her interest in joining his Intelligence team. Now that Antonio is leaving P.D. for Chicago Justice, this would be the perfect opportunity for her to do so. If viewers thought that was only a tease and it will never happen, break out the bubbly to celebrate, because it's definitely happening.

While chatting with reporters at NBC's One Chicago Day event, executive producer Matt Olmstead said, "That’s one of the things we’re dealing with in the fall finale," about Burgess officially working her way up the ladder. "In [Episode] 8, the fall finale, we have this kind of double move where Antonio’s going to Justice, there’s a spot open, and that’s when Voight basically says, ‘Welcome aboard.’ So, she is going to be moving up to Intelligence."

It's about time, right? Not only is Burgess fantastic at her job, but she's been working hard on patrol and knows what it takes to be a successful police officer. Plus, she's an all-around badass. You know what else this means? Lindsay won't be the only woman in Intelligence anymore, which also means more Lingess. Voight's task force has been way too male-oriented for so long, it'll be nice to see another woman showing the men how it's done.

Who knows whether Burgess' promotion means she will get back together with Ruzek or whether it'll just be awkward, but Marina Squerciati is happy she gets to play a single Burgess. "I think for some people it’s important because they want to see a woman not talking about a man all the time," Squerciati told reporters at the One Chicago Day about playing Burgess without a man in her life.

"You know, just being a whole person without a man, and I think that’s great and I think it’s important. I do like working with [Patrick John Fleuger, aka Ruzek] just as an actor, and I do like the Burzek story lines, so I do miss that," she said. "Also, with Atwater being best friends with both characters, there’s something fun to play. I like being established without him, but I’d like, to be honest, to go back a little."

Chicago P.D. airs Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC.

A return to GH isn't totally out of the question for Kimberly McCullough

One of the most exciting returns on General Hospital is when Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough) stops by Port Charles. Her latest visit began on Thursday, Oct. 27 with a short arc revolving around Morgan Corinthos' (Bryan Craig) funeral.

More: Soap fans hate product placements, but General Hospital doesn’t care

Whenever McCullough makes a cameo on GH, fans welcome her back with open arms. It always begs the question: Would McCullough ever return to the ABC soap full-time?

SoapHub.com recently conducted a poll about her character and GH fans want more McCullough on their TV screens. But since her departure from a full-time role on the show in 2012, McCullough has been successfully pursuing a career behind the camera.

More: General Hospital's Kimberly McCullough writes emotional blog about miscarriage

Besides attending New York University's film program, she was also a part of ABC and the Director’s Guild of America’s Creative Talent Program, which is an organization that is “instrumental in identifying and developing creative talent with multicultural voices and perspectives.”

She’s been a huge part of the ABC fold directing episodes of Freeform’s Pretty Little Liars and Disney Channel’s Shake It Up! and K.C. Undercover. Why doesn’t ABC Daytime give her an opportunity to direct episodes of GH?

More: Soap operas constantly tackle social issues — and often before other TV shows

If McCullough took on a role like this on GH, it could be huge. She has the experience with the cast and crew, she understands her role as a legacy character on GH and she has perspective on what the daytime audience is looking for in a soap.

In addition to her directing skills, McCullough is also a talented writer. We think her multifaceted career makes her a perfect fit to join the GH team in a larger capacity.

It makes you wonder if the ABC Daytime has looked at the talent that’s right under their nose. Have they even given it a thought?

OUAT’s Evil Queen and Rumple make one fantastically devilish duo

$

It was bound to happen sooner or later. Two of Once Upon a Time's evilest, most cunning characters are joining forces — for now, at least. By the end of tonight's episode, the Evil Queen (or "Queenie," as Regina likes to call her) and Rumple were working together.

More: OUAT's Hook & Emma really need to stop lying to each other

Firstly, the Evil Queen handed over the shears of destiny to Rumple. Yes, those same shears Jafar gave to Aladdin, who then handed them over to Emma, who then gave them to Hook to get rid of so she wasn't tempted to use them on herself and sever her ties as the savior once and for all.

As you probably recall, Hook didn't dispose of the shears, like he told Emma he did, but instead hung on to them. He just couldn't stand the thought of losing Emma, if that truly is her fate as the savior. Of course, the Evil Queen figured it out and even revealed Hook's lies to Henry. To make a long story short, Henry and Hook did bury the shears in a treasure chest thousands of leagues under water. Yes, Hook did own up to Emma about his lie, but all is thankfully good between them.

However, the Evil Queen had some friends in low places (she happened to have a few underwater creatures who owe her a favor) and she managed to get hold of the shears. But, rather than keeping them for herself, she handed them over to Rumple. Apparently, the shears can be used on everyone, not just saviors, like Belle and her unborn son.

Once again, it seems Rumple is trying to twist his fate and force things to work between him and Belle. When he is going to stop repeating the same mistakes and understand he can't force Belle into something she doesn't want? That's not who she is, and no one should ever be forced to do something they don't want to do. Moving on.

Who knows if his plan will work, but now that he possesses the shears, Rumple will surely at least try something. Why did Regina just hand over the shears willingly? Well, because Rumple (aka her mentor, when he was the Dark One in the Enchanted Forest) once told her, "Know what you want and go after it with everything you have." The first thing she wants is Rumple, so she kissed him (and just when it seemed like Belle may want to make amends with Rumple). The second thing Regina wants is for Rumple to help her get Snow White's heart once and for all.

It's unclear if Rumple will truly help the Evil Queen, but seeing as she did give him the shears, he may be feeling kind. There's a good chance he'll do whatever is best for him and take the shears and run. Now that he has them, does he really need to help the Evil Queen?

You never know what these two are thinking or what their true agendas are, but one thing remains certain: they make one fantastic duo. It's like the good old days of the Evil Queen and the Dark One are resurfacing. What's better than seeing two of the original OUAT villains partnering up? They could cause some serious damage and heartache throughout Storybrooke, so fans better get ready for what's ahead from Rumple and the Evil Queen.

As a final note, did anyone else notice that Rumple has now kissed Zelena, Cora and the Evil Queen (who is essentially a part of Regina)? It's definitely a bit creepy, but he clearly can't sever ties with this family.

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8/7c on ABC.

Is Westworld's Arnold still alive?

$

0

After only five episodes of Westworld, I'm already up to my eyeballs in theories about this show. The depth and the brilliance behind the show seem to know no boundaries, and I feel like the answers underneath the facade that is Westworld are just out of my reach — which makes me feel like a host stuck on a loop, not gonna lie.

More: Why is Westworld getting negative reviews? I freaking loved it

If you're like me, you've already had hour-long conversations about the show with your friends. You've scoured the Internet for clues other viewers have picked up, and you find yourself replaying moments of each episode in order to piece out the hidden meanings.

Where has all of that gotten me?

Well, no closer to the truth just yet, as it seems the show has so perfectly woven in the clues and details of Arnold, Wyatt and the maze that the writing is just as complicated as the world of Westworld.

But things tonight took an especially answer-filled turn, what with Dr. Ford's appearance with The Man in Black and Dolores' voices becoming more concrete.

"The maze. You must follow the maze," a vision of Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) tells herself.

But I think we can safely say it isn't just Dolores' programming leading her to the maze. It's Arnold.

We learned tonight she was the last person who spoke to Arnold before he committed suicide in the maze. But what if he didn't commit suicide at all? What if he created a host replica of himself and faked his own death? What if, following his faked death, he began orchestrating a revolt in Westworld?

More: The Man in Black might not be the real villain of Westworld

Dolores, compelled by the call in her head, answers with a confident "I'm coming."

That and she also started killing people because, well, she is far from a damsel in distress, let's be real.

She also lied to Dr. Ford (Anthony Hopkins), presumably about the last time she saw Arnold, which Dr. Ford thinks was right before he committed suicide. If she has seen him since then, is it a mere vision in her head, or has she actually seen him in the flesh?

I'm guessing the latter, because what a twist that would be! Of course, just because she's seen him in the flesh doesn't mean he's alive. He could have created a cognizant host version of himself with uploaded memories. Of course, why not just stay alive if you're going to create such an accurate, cognizant host version of yourself?

I also think my theory that Bernard Lowe is a recreation of Arnold could still hold true. It very well could have been Bernard in the dark while Dolores was explaining that she didn't tell Dr. Ford anything of import. Especially because some fans have already pieced together that Bernard Lowe is an anagram of Arnold Weber. Is your mind blown yet?

It could be that Bernard is Arnold's eyes on the inside of the department while the mysterious Wyatt is Arnold's eyes inside Westworld, while Arnold is sitting pretty inside some mysterious oasis at the heart of Westworld.

More: The way Westworld introduced religion didn't go over well with fans

The question becomes — whether Arnold is dead or alive — why did it take so long for his maze plan to be put into action?

What do you think The Man in Black and Dolores will find at the center of the maze?

King Ezekiel is just what The Walking Dead needed after the grisly premiere

$

After The Walking Dead's brutal Season 7 premiere last week (seriously, I may never be over it), fans couldn't be sure of what was in store for us this week. More heartbreak? Wallowing in our abject grief over losing two beloved characters? To be honest, the fandom probably couldn't have handled any more loss.

So it was a pleasant surprise when, while watching this week's episode, I found myself laughing. Laughing... while watching The Walking Dead? So soon after losing Glenn and Abraham, no less? What is this madness?

It was just what fans needed following the gut-wrenching premiere: a little levity.

It's been a hot minute since we've found pure joy in The Walking Dead. Perhaps I'm a bit jaded by recent events, but it's hard to remember a time in recent history when our lovable crew's happiness wasn't tinged with sadness or pain.

More: Think TWD's Season 7 premiere was bad? Wait 'til you see the leaked footage

This week, Carol and Morgan got to experience that — and by proxy, so did we — when they were taken to a colony known as The Kingdom led by none other than newcomer King Ezekiel and his pet tiger, Shiva.

Seriously, seeing Carol's face the first time she laid eyes on Ezekiel, it was impossible not to laugh. The tough-as-nails, cynical Carol of old seemed to shine through in the face of such farcical optimism. Her interactions while in The Kingdom were, dare I say, fun.

Even Morgan seems to have a lightheartedness about him that we haven't seen from him since, well, basically ever.

And it's all thanks to the great medieval-like leader, King Ezekiel, and the zombocalyptic version of Camelot he has built for himself and his people. So, yeah, the tiger is clearly CGI. Who cares? Ezekiel is still a badass.

Never is this more apparent than when he shows true vulnerability by opening up to Carol and revealing how he came to be the king of this Utopian society — that he had been a zookeeper who rescued a tiger who in return became his best friend, and how the people had begun mythologizing him as soon as he showed up with a tiger in tow.

The people, he explained, needed a hero. They needed something to believe in. And therein lies the crux of why King Ezekiel is just what The Walking Dead needs right now.

More: The Walking Dead's new series regulars could be a bad sign for our heroes

I can't tell you how many people on social media I saw over the last week claim they could no longer invest themselves in the show. It hurts too much, they said. TWD keeps betraying our trust, they said. There's nothing left to look forward to, they said.

Then comes Ezekiel, who offers the simplest but most powerful of things: hope.

The way he speaks to Carol with such conviction, even Carol cannot help believing in the kind of world he has created with The Kingdom. That's saying a lot, y'all. The fact that there could be a Carol/King Ezekiel 'ship shaping up is just icing on the optimistic cake.

Another truth about King Ezekiel and his men — particularly pun-tastic Jerry — is that they do bring a sort of jovial spirit back to The Walking Dead. You know who that reminds me of? Glenn! We haven't seen that lighthearted side of Glenn for some time (and now we never will again, Negan), so it somehow seems a fitting homage to have this character come through now.

More: The Walking Dead death scene was even too much for one cast member

He's the kind of guy Glenn would've approved of, you know? Of course, Carol and Morgan don't yet know about Glenn and Abe's fate, which is partially why this joy they are experiencing is undiluted for the most part by grief.

Soon they will know, and we will all suffer through that painful epiphany with them. But for now, let's just sit back and enjoy the Shakespearean antics and animatronic and CGI tiger of King Ezekiel. We've earned a brief respite from heartbreak.

What do you think? Do you love King Ezekiel or hate him?

Kelly Ripa couldn't decide on one Halloween costume, so she wore them all

Kelly Ripa clearly faced the same difficult question the rest of us do: With so many great, topical Halloween costume options, how do you choose just one?

More: Jerry O'Connell loves Kelly Ripa so much

So she didn't.

On Monday's Halloween episode of Live!, Ripa pulled out all the stops and wore pretty much every costume. First, she came out dressed as Beyoncé in Lemonade, clearly a popular choice for this year.

Image: WABC-TV

While Ripa rocked her Bey look, guest co-host Jerry O'Connell was dressed as Negan from The Walking Dead... before Ripa herself donned that costume — and a barbed wire bat, of course, to swing it at one of her co-hosting prospects: Neil Patrick Harris, Jimmi Simpson or O'Connell himself.

In a nod to the epic cliffhanger on TWD, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan, made a brief appearance to help Ripa choose, though the camera cut away without revealing his choice. Guess we'll find out next season.

Image: Giphy

Next up was Hamilton, and Ripa's chance to joke about her indecision when it comes to picking out a Halloween costume.

Image: WABC-TV

"My game is Kelly Ripa’s Halloween and there’s a million wigs I haven’t worn," she sang, dressed as the founding father from the famous musical. "But just you wait! Just you wait!"

More: Christian Slater as Kelly Ripa's Live! co-host? OK, we can see that...

Other costumes Ripa tried on during the show included Mr. Robot's Elliot and Harley Quinn.

But easily one of her best looks was Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. For that look, Ripa wore a bad comb-over wig, a black suit and way, way too much bronzer.

Image: WABC-TV

"I brought my smoking-hot wife Melania," she said in a Trump impression during a Family Feud sketch spoofing the candidate and his wife. "My gorgeous daughter Ivanka — isn’t she beautiful, folks? We are going to make game shows great again!"

Kendall Jenner has a phobia that makes her terrified of pancakes

In a new promo for Keeping Up with the Kardashians, something is afoot with Kendall Jenner.

"I wake up in the middle of the night and I can’t move," Kendall says in a quick clip, as the footage cuts to her mother, Kris Jenner, brushing Kendall's worries off as anxiety.

"Everyone says I’m fine, but I don’t feel fine," Kendall replies.

KUWTK promo

KUWTK promo

The trailer is super cryptic and ominous, but we're gonna go out on a limb here and say the upcoming episode will deal with Kendall's trypophobia, which she has previously addressed in her blog.

More: I have to admit, Abby Lee Miller has a point in criticizing Kendall Jenner

"Anyone who knows me knows that I have really bad trypophobia," she wrote on her website last summer. "Trypophobics are afraid of tiny little holes that are in weird patterns. Things that could set me off are pancakes, honeycomb or lotus heads (the worst!).

“It sounds ridiculous but so many people actually have it!" she continued. "I can’t even look at little holes — it gives me the worst anxiety. Who knows what’s in there???"

The way Kendall describes her symptoms may make you giggle at first read (she's afraid of pancakes?!), but it turns out the condition is actually quite common and nothing to laugh about.

More: The speculation around Kendall Jenner's sexuality is upsetting

According to popsci.com, trypophobics can have reactions that go far beyond anxiety, like itchy skin, nausea and a general feeling of discomfort, and holes that are in clusters are the major trigger. And findings published in Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science, suggest that trypophobia may occur as a result of the fact that clusters of holes are a feature common among various poisonous animals.

"These findings suggest that there may be an ancient evolutionary part of the brain telling people that they are looking at a poisonous animal," explained Dr. Geoff Cole in the study, via new-medical.net.

More: Watch out, Gisele — Kendall Jenner & Gigi Hadid are after your dolla, dolla bills

Again, it's hard not to laugh, but trypophobia is no joke. Considering there are holes in everything — I mean, there's even millions of holes in your own face — we can see why Kendall might constantly be on the verge of a meltdown lately. Especally since a phobia that makes you innately afraid of pancakes is pretty much the worst thing in the world.

What do you think of Kendall's trypophobia? Do you think that's what will be addressed in the upcoming episode?

Josh Halverson is The Voice's ultimate underdog

$

Our favorite coaches' moments on The Voice do not involve turning around the chair at auditions or flirting between Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. We get most excited when, after the letdown of seeing a favorite artist rejected, that person is stolen by another coach, who recognizes the musician's potential and wants to foster it. That happened tonight on The Voice, but it was even better than a typical steal, because the coach who stole the lucky artist had been forced to give him up earlier in the season.

More: Billy Gilman doesn't have an unfair advantage on The Voice

Levine's decision this evening cannot have been easy, because Halverson and his competitor, Aaron Gibson, were both amazing, in very different ways. Gibson surprised by going country, while Halverson opted for Tim McGraw's Whiskey & You. His performance wasn't for everyone — some viewers really take issue with that laid-back style. But we loved it, and so did the judges. Miley Cyrus complimented Halverson on his ability to capture the audience, while Blake Shelton accurately referred to him as the "chillest person." But Halverson wasn't the only artist to receive praise; everybody loved Gibson, especially Levine.

Josh Halverson
Image: NBC

We were a bit sad when Levine chose Gibson, but there wasn't really an element of surprise at this point. We knew Halverson was going to be stolen, but that knowledge didn't make the moment any less enjoyable. Because he's not always the coaches' first choice, he's become something of an underdog, and as many Cubs fans will attest, there's something really satisfying about cheering for the underdog. And underdogs have a surprising amount of power on The Voice — who could forget the ultimate underdog, Craig Wayne Boyd?

More: Miley Cyrus just made The Voice's most memorable steal yet

There's also something satisfying about a second steal. It's essentially The Voice's version of denying the saying "no takesies backsies." It's also confirmation that, when coaches have to say goodbye to contestants, they truly regret it — and they're chomping at the bit to get their favorites back.

Josh Halverson

Halverson's steal was definitely a gratifying moment, and one worthy of the final Knockouts episode. We're so glad that he's continuing into the next round of the competition, and best of all, as part of Team Alicia.

Val Chmerkovskiy's DWTS emotion puts Laurie Hernandez back in the game

In the past few weeks on Dancing with the Stars, gymnast Laurie Hernandez and her pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy have kind fallen to the sidelines.

More: Maureen McCormick on DWTS makes me fangirl Marcia Brady all over again

Though they're both still definitely contenders for the Mirror Ball trophy win in Season 23, it wasn't until tonight's Halloween performance that they really came back into the spotlight as the leaders they are.

Surprisingly, it wasn't their dancing that got the attention of the judges and viewers around the nation, it was Chmerkovskiy unusually pre-tape emotion.

In a solo interview, Chmerkovskiy got teary-eyed talking about Hernandez. "My whole life is focused around making sure she shines every Monday. Is my creativity good enough? Because her dancing is definitely good enough."

"I want to be good to you, for you, and make this a great, great experience for you," Chmerkovskiy then said to Hernandez as they hugged it out in rehearsals. "Because you deserve it."

"You have to stop, because then you're going to make me start crying and that's ugly," Hernandez joked.

More: The DWTS judges let loose on the most-hated performance of last night

The two performed a Viennese waltz to the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory theme song "Pure Imagination," and the judges loved it.

"That was a truly magical Halloween treat," Bruno Tonioli said of the performance. "It nearly brought tears to my eyes."

Carrie Ann Inaba actually did cry during the dance.

After the performance, she said, ""There was something so magical happening between you, the music, the true emotional and tenderness that was exchanged between all of you. It connected us all into this beautiful, magical moment. And you're dancing was divine."

The couple scored a 30 out of 30.

More: Jana Kramer's courage steals the Dancing with the Stars spotlight

But more important than their perfect score was the favor they earned with the fans.

Fuller House S2 trailer intros us to Kimmy's hot brother, but who is he?

The Fuller House Season 2 trailer is finally here. As you can watch below for yourself, the usual suspects are featured, but there is one particular character who stands out and that is Kimmy's brother, Jimmy Gibbler.

As reported by E! News in October, Adam Hagenbuch will be playing her brother, who was described as a "very much a male version of Kimmy." At the time, no other details were given, but now we know so much more. Jimmy is a love interest for Stephanie! That's right, the two are seen kissing and apparently Stephanie at first doesn't realize Jimmy is a Gibbler.

More: 'Fuller House' Season 2 spoilers that will make you say, 'Have mercy!'

Fuller House Season 2 trailer

Fuller House Season 2 trailer

In April, TVLine revealed Stephanie would have a love interest in Season 2 named Jimmy and now we know he is related to Kimmy. He is said to be a "gifted singer-songwriter" and someone who sees life "differently than the rest of the world." Jimmy was also described as "great-looking," "sexy" and someone who is a "touch on the weird side." Based on the trailer, that description is pretty accurate.

Who knows if the two will end up together, but Jimmy is super-cute, seems really fun and certainly has the Gibbler spirit. Seeing as how Kimmy fits in so well with the Tanners (most of the time), Jimmy may end up being Stephanie's OTP.

Fans will just have to wait until Season 2 is released, so until then, let's get to know the actor portraying Jimmy.

1. He was on Switched at Birth

Switched at Birth fans probably recognize Hagenbuch for his time as Mingo, who went to the same school as Daphne and was also her love interest.

2. He once played Ashton Kutcher

Remember Lifetime's movie The Brittany Murphy Story? Well, Hagenbuch played Ashton Kutcher in it. He actually does look like the That '70s Show actor, especially in that trucker hat.

3. He's into cinematography

Rebel and a Basketcase

In addition to acting, Hagenbuch also knows a thing or two about cinematography. He acted as the cinematographer and operated the Steadicam for Rebel and a Basketcase's music video "Oh Yeah." As you'll notice, the video also features the band's members, Evan Rachel Wood and Zach Villa.

4. He has a theater degree

Adam Hagenbuch Twitter

Hagenbuch went to Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama, where he got a theater degree. Based on this tweet, it's clear that he also has a good sense of humor about the work he's done, which happens to include a lot of shirtless scenes.

5. He could seriously be Kimmy's brother

The look alike, don't they? He was clearly the right casting choice.

Who else is ready to see more from Hagenbuch as Jimmy? Too bad we have to wait until Friday, Dec. 9 when Fuller House Season 2 debuts on Netflix.

"[She’s] the kind of girl who notices if you’re wearing a new bra and can really rock a pair of mom jeans. Or as we call them now, jeans," Wood said describing the teen.

It's really not fair that RHOC's Briana has to brave so many health issues

$

For over a decade now, we've watched Real Housewives of Orange County's Briana Culberson evolve.

She went from an optimistic and energetic high school student — who loathed being under her mother's thumb — to a confident and responsible career woman, to a loving, caring wife and mother who always puts her family first. We've watched her become, as Andy Cohen puts it, the only voice of reason in the RHOC universe, and we've rooted for her every step along her life's journey.

More: Why would Meghan Edmonds ever visit Vicki Gunvalson in the ER?

But we've also watched in despair as Culberson struggled with health issues that caused her and her mom, Vicki Gunvalson, so much heartache. Years ago, Gunvalson buckled under the weight of the possibility that Culberson could have thyroid cancer, and over the past year we watched the family once again struggle as cancer was ruled out.

More: RHOC's Vicki Gunvalson's new boyfriend looks like a keeper

In the finale for RHOC Season 11 it was confirmed that Culberson's issues all root back to lupus — a chronic inflammatory disease that causes the immune system to attack it's own tissues.

We're so happy that Culberson finally knows what has caused her ailments over the years, but being that lupus is a chronic illness, we know that she still has a good fight ahead of her. It's not fair, but we know that if anyone can overcome lupus, its Culberson.

More: Well now all reality TV show friendships are ruined thanks to Vicki Gunvalson

And it doesn't hurt that she has her strong-willed mama in her corner fighting for her. Remember back in July when Gunvalson ordered a full-blown "witch-hunt" to track down the Oklahoma doctor she felt had harmed her child?

"Two things: you don't mess with my family, you don't mess with my money. My family is my everything, and I'm gonna find this doctor. He was going to kill my daughter. So, when I do find him, I'll probably pull him up against a wall and tell him what I think of him," she told Entertainment Tonight in July, via Bravo. "I want to go on a witch hunt for him."
