Need-More-Salt Bae Casey Thompson Was Surprised by Her Top Chef Elimination Too

I have to start this by saying one thing: I'm super-biased and was rooting for Top Chef veteran cheftestant Casey Thompson all season. And yes, when she was eliminated during a sudden-death Quickfire Challenge, I was devastated to see her go.

More: Katsuji Tanabe & John Tesar, Listen Up: Top Chef's Sylva Senat Has Words for You

But I wasn't the only one.

And her response to it all was perfect:

While she seems pretty cool with it now, was she surprised by the elimination? Damn straight she was! Find out what she had to say in our exclusive Q&A with her.

SheKnows: Were you surprised by your elimination?

Casey Thompson: I was surprised by my elimination. I think we are always surprised that we are having a sudden-death Quickfire! It happens so fast, really. And to cook a dish as hard as you can for 30 minutes, and then turn right around and cook another for 30 minutes, that means life or death! Death?? Yay! Surprise!!

SK: What was it like working with all the judges on the show? Who's the most intimidating?

CT: The judges are great. What's incredible to me is that I have cooked an event or even a season with some of them! So, it feels a bit strange at times. But, for the most part, they are all intimidating. They decide whether or not they like your food and potentially your demise. On Season 3, it was Daniel Boulud.

SK: Which contestant do you think deserves to win? Or who are you rooting for?

CT: We all deserve to win. I don't think that is of any question.

SK: Who did you consider your biggest competition?

CT: Honestly, Brooke [Williamson]. I feel like we cook very similarly. She is a lot of fun to cook/collaborate with.

SK: Was there anyone on the show you really clashed with? Who was it and why?

CT: Clash? I don't clash. Not my style. I would say that I found certain people a bit annoying at times. It's like getting to know your new college roommate. They might be great in the beginning, but not so great in the end...

SK: What's one thing that happened behind the scenes viewers didn't get to see on the show?

CT: I think Emily [Hahn] touched on this briefly already, but the beach was across the street from our house and viewers only saw us go there once. We actually snuck out like teenagers often and swam in the ocean in the dark. It was the best! I tried to teach Shirley [Chung] to float. We almost got busted when our house Mom said one day, "Why is there so much sand in the laundry room?!"

Oh, and there was an epic workout day in the yard. So great.

SK: Who do you think deserved to go home on last night’s episode?

CT: I think there were other dish issues that could have been a bit more problematic, but who knows? I would have killed the next challenge and on I would have gone!

SK: What was the best experience you had on the show?

CT: Winning that first episode. I really enjoyed that. I really felt that dish. I loved the way we cooked together. It felt great to be in the kitchen with my friends cooking. I loved the satisfied looks on the judges' faces, mostly Tom [Colicchio]'s and BJ [Dennis]'s.

SK: What was the biggest challenge for you on the show?

CT: This season, everything had to be purchased at the store for elimination challenges. Everything. That means no running into the pantry to grab a quick item for an idea you just had. You didn't buy it; you don't have it. Imagine that with a baking item? No leavening agents? Whoops!

SK: Who's your favorite Top Chef contestant of all time and why?

CT: What?! This is a crazy question! Dale Levitski from my Season 3, Silvia [Barban] and Sheldon [Simeon]. Three people that I love very much and find to be special, loving souls on this Earth. Rare people. I can't pick one. No way.

The Pros and Cons of Two Husbands, as Learned From Brother Husbands

$
0
0

We’ve spent seven seasons getting to know the Brown family on Sister Wives and learning all of the ups and downs of living in a family with one husband and four wives. Now, TLC has finally given us a look into the lives of a family living the opposite script: a woman, her five children and her two husbands. I just finished watching the one-time special, Brother Husbands, and I think I have a better idea of the pros and cons of polyamory on a day-to-day basis.

More: Why It Is Significant That the Sister Wives Were at the Women's March

Pro: Oh, the extra child care and housekeeping!

Amanda has two husbands, Chad and Jeremy. She and Chad have two sons together (they’ve been married for seven years) and she and Jeremy have triplets together (they’ve been together for two years). Amanda is a paralegal working for the government, while Chad and Jeremy both stay at home looking after the kids and caring for the house. I must say that I was intrigued by the idea of having multiple men cooking and cleaning for me in between endlessly bottle-feeding triplets and roughhousing with the older boys. At one point, Amanda returns from her tough workday to sit in front of a lovely dinner and a glass of wine. Yes, please.

Con: Oh, lots more children!

On the downside, as on Sister Wives, polyamory seems to have led to having a lot of children running around. While all of their children are adorable, and while children are just wonderful, it looks like a lot of work (and a lot of diapers) even for three parents to handle.

Pro: More mothers-in-law

During one segment, Jeremy’s mom comes to meet the triplets and spread grandma love. She’s head over heels for the new babies and absolutely adorable as she meets each one of the three new baby girls. She also puts aside all of her prejudices and really tries to understand her child’s lifestyle and accept her kid’s brother husband. More people can equal more love!

Con: More mother-in-law drama

Of course, having more family members also means dealing with more family drama. Several family members have bowed out of the trio’s life, and Jeremy’s mom can’t help but mention her wish for the family to get paternity tests for the triplets and also can’t hide that she’s a bit uncomfortable with the nontraditional turn her son’s life has taken. I can’t help but wonder if Thanksgiving isn’t going to be even more complicated than before.

More: Brother Husbands Is the New Sister Wives, Except Way, Way Better

Pro: The kids have tons of support

It was heartwarming to see the two dads joining forces to care for all five kids, with only a little territorial scuffle every now and then. And it’s a good thing because it was a little stressful even watching them care for three tiny infants plus two rowdy boys.

Con: The kids stand out a bit at school

One segment focused on a parent-teacher meeting in which the family came out as polyamorous to their oldest child’s teacher. While the teacher was welcoming, she was a little worried about how the other children in the class would react. However, there was no evidence of bullying or teasing, at least at that age.

Pro: Fights have a built-in mediator

At one point in the special, Amanda expertly mediates a fight about child care that is taking place between Chad and Jeremy. The conflict is resolved peacefully, rationally and in record time, making me wonder how helpful it would be to have a third person in my relationship, if only to act as referee.

Con: There are more people to squabble with

Although trios sometimes have the added bonus of a neutral third party to settle disputes, they also have, I am guessing, more disputes just because of the added number of people. There’s also the extra issue of teaming up during fights — at a couple of points, it felt like Chad was outnumbered by Amanda and her first husband.

More: Kody Brown and His Wives Are Now Exiled From Their Polygamist Church

Pro: More celebrations

It seems like the family has tons to celebrate, from birthdays to anniversaries. Not only that, but you have extra people to pitch in. For the trio’s two-year anniversary, for example, one husband cooked a dinner while the other one decorated the backyard for maximum effect.

Con: High-stakes paternity tests

Unlike sister wives, brother husbands don’t automatically know which kids belong to which dad, which, as we found out, can be a source of stress and conflict. One of the biggest worries on everyone’s mind during the special was the biological paternity of the triplets and whether the trio would be better off knowing or not knowing who was technically the father.

Other pros:

  • More people to remember anniversaries
  • More sex, I’m guessing?
  • More people to get up with the babies at night
  • I am still thinking about coming home to that gourmet-looking dinner and glass of wine

Other cons:

  • It’s hard to find bathrooms with triple sinks
  • Lingerie shopping can get awkward
  • You have to write out a monthly sleeping schedule
  • Getting everyone to fit into a selfie is harder

Everything Nick Viall Has Done Right and Wrong as The Bachelor

$

0

There is so much good in Nick Viall, but tonight on The Bachelor, I'm pretty sure we witnessed his collapsed. The poor guy just had a complete breakdown, and the girls broke down right along with him as soon as they caught on to those overly emotional vibes he was slinging.

More: Sounds Like Corinne's Former Flame Wants Her Back Once Bachelor Wraps

Let's start with the positives for poor Viall.

He's genuine

No one can claim Nick isn't on the show for the right reason. This is a man on a mission to find love.

He's sensitive

The tears he sheds warm my heart a little bit because he is being so open with his emotions. Gotta love a man who can bear his soul like that.

He's honest

Nick respects the women, which means he's going to tell it to them like it is. The man is looking for a wife, and in his search, he's telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth no matter how brutal it may be.

When the girls try to rag on each other, he turns the conversation back around

When Nick tried to tell Whitney he didn't see a future with her, she immediately pulled out her claws and aimed them at Danielle. Nick very patiently and politely told her that the conversation didn't have anything to do with Danielle.

He did the same thing when Taylor tried to make it seem like the only reason she'd been sent home was because Corinne made her out to be a bully.

More: The Bachelor's Corinne actually had a point about that Taylor 'tude

Now for the not-so-fuzzy parts of Nick as The Bachelor.

He's stressed out and anxious

As the weeks go on, Nick seems more and more uncomfortable as The Bachelor. Tonight, when the women were emotional on the group date, instead of comforting them, Nick just got all worked up right along with them. The only one who stayed sane in the whole situation was Raven, which makes me think maybe she balances Nick out, which makes me think maybe she's the one.

He can't make eye contact

Nick himself admitted this was a weakness at the beginning of the season. He still needs some work. He turns to avoidance, especially when he gets nervous or uncomfortable, which seems to happen a lot.

He can't keep his hands off Corinne

Nick's passion is a good thing. His passion for Corinne in front of the other women is not so good.

He's kind of ruthless

I respect that Nick is honest with the women and sends them home when he knows they aren't "the one." But he's starting to seem a little trigger happy. Girls are dropping left and right so it's no wonder the remaining six are feeling freaked out.

He doesn't seem to know what he wants

Sure, Nick wants love, a best friend and an adventure buddy, but what does that look like for him? After having his heart broken twice on television, no one can blame the guy for feeling skeptical about his feelings, but he's got to find his confidence for this process to work. All of his insecurity suggests he isn't ready to settle down, despite how much he may want it.

He may or may not have just broken up with all six of the remaining women

Nick went to see all the women at the end of tonight's episode and told them all that he didn't think he could keep doing this. Uh, usually when a guy says that it means he's done. Like done, done.

So did Nick just break up with all his remaining women?

While You're Mourning That Jane the Virgin Death, Exec Says the Show Will Go On

$

0

If you've yet to watch Monday's Jane the Virgin, read no further. There are major spoilers ahead.

More: Gina Rodriguez Is Making Everyone's Jaws Drop With Her Super-Edgy New Look

We know JTV is a telenovela and drastic things are bound to happen more often than not, including characters dying. But we're having a hard time coming to terms with this particular death. That's right, a beloved character is no more. It pains us to even write this, but Michael (Brett Dier) died during Monday's episode, which means Jane (Gina Rodriguez) is now a widow.

What? How is this possible? At the end of Season 2, Jane and Michael finally got married. Then when Season 3 opened, Michael survived a gunshot from Sin Rostro. Things seemed good for these two, who were clearly meant to be.

However, throughout Monday's episode, Michael complained he wasn't feel well, which he and Jane pretty much wrote off as nerves over him taking the LSATs, though Jane packed him some antacids and Michael even promised to go to the doctor right after the test. After the LSATs, Michael stood up, fell to the ground and died. Based on the phone call Jane received at the end during which a doctor informed her about Michael, it appears he died due to complications stemming from being shot.

After Jane fell to the ground screaming and in tears upon learning the news, JTV shot three years forward with a scene of Jane getting ready for someone's mysterious wedding and a 4-1/2-year-old Mateo walking in to see his mother.

More: Girl Crush: Why Gina Rodriguez Is the Role Model I Want for My Daughter

This is a huge shake-up for the series. Granted, Michael's untimely death has been suspected ever since the narrator ominously teased in Season 1 that Michael would love Jane until his very last breath, which is clearly what happened.

However, we definitely didn't think it would happen this soon or somehow the series would figure out a way around the narrator's line. Why couldn't Michael live until he was 90 and then die loving Jane? Well, showrunner Jennie Urman had her reasons, and based on several post-mortem interviews, she's opened up about how the show will go on without Michael.

Not only did she assure TV Line that Dier will be back in flashbacks, but that "Michael is dead." Obviously, this is going to impact Jane greatly, which is partly why Urman decided Michael had to die. "Part of it is for the character, part of it is for the show," she explained. "Part of it is because this is a soap, and [you] need to keep things fresh and have big events happen and watch how characters spin out from those. Part of it is personal, experiencing loss in life and wanting to mine how one moves on and remains hopeful and optimistic."

Of course, seeing as there was a three-year time jump, we will now see a different Jane, who has somewhat come to terms with Michael's death. "Three years has allowed Jane to grow and heal, and the pain of Michael’s death is not going to subsume our narrative or our comedy," Urman told TV Line. "We can’t live in just how dark that was," though, there will be flashbacks to how Jane, in addition to the other characters, coped with his death early on.

It's all about the characters finding the light again, but especially Jane, Urman told The Hollywood Reporter. As much as she recognizes that fans will be upset over Michael's death, Urman said this pushes the story and the series in a much-needed way.

More: Gina Rodriguez Has Big Dreams for Grey's Anatomy — and We Say Yes!

Michael, Jane the Virgin
Image: Giphy

"I would also say it has opened up so much in the way of storytelling," she told THR. "When you're thinking about the show as a whole and the telenovela and where we're going toward at the end, whether Jane gets together with someone or whether she finds her happiness alone, I think it has opened it up in tremendous ways. It propels the season and the story forward. I hope people can appreciate that."

Urman also told Entertainment Weekly that when JTV returns, it almost feels like the pilot episode, especially since all of the characters are in different places than when we last saw them. It's kind of a like a reset button has been hit.

"Rafael has gone to jail, Xo, Rogelio, and Jane are all in very different places," she told EW. "There’s a wedding that we’re alluding to. And parenting stories are different now because we’re not dealing with a 1-and-a-half-year-old. We have a 4-and-a-half-year-old, and the twins are 4. We have a lot of new places to go in terms of our parenting storylines. It’s pretty exciting."

There's no doubt the dramedy will be extremely different without Michael, but his death will also open up an endless number of doors. Even though it's always good to keep a series fresh to push the characters forward and keep fans on their toes, Michael's death is beyond devastating.

We have faith in JTV because it has never disappointed in its storytelling before and Urman really can seem to do no wrong. Although, here's hoping she and the series can make up for Michael's death in a big way. Can it really succeed without him and Jane and Michael's love for one another?

Until we see the next episode and where the show goes from here, you can find us eating ice cream and crying our eyes out over Michael. We'll also be keeping our fingers crossed that all of this heartache we're feeling will soon dissipate. Too bad we can't jump three years forward in real life like the JTV characters.

Jane the Virgin airs Mondays at 9/8c on The CW.

Do New Photos From The Walking Dead Reveal Who's Wearing the Boots?

Rejoice, Walking Dead-heads! (Is this a thing? Let's make it a thing.) On Sunday, we'll all be sitting in the dark watching the continuation of Season 7 of The Walking Dead. And heading into that premiere, AMC may have just given us a leg up — quite literally, a leg — on discovering the identity of the boot-wearing spy who's been creeping on Rick and Aaron.

More: The Walking Dead's New Season 7 Teaser Photos Are Weird AF

You remember the boots, right? As Rick and Aaron went about their missions, we knew someone was following them. We knew because that person was revealed to us. Well, not the person so much as their busted up ol' boots.

The Walking Dead

Image: AMC

So, those kinda look like lady feet, right? That's the initial thought I had upon seeing them. But who is this mysterious stalking lady? AMC may have just subtly revealed the stalker's identity in a new photo.

TWD
Image: AMC

See that badass-looking lady in the middle holding that T-bar thing? Look at her feet. While we can't see the boots clearly enough to make a positive ID, the boots she is wearing could definitely be the boots belonging to Alexandria's resident creeper.

But, uh, who is she? Well, we don't know that yet either. However, speculation online suggests that there is a new community entering the fray. Yes, a new community — I know, we're still trying to get a handle on, like, the last three that were introduced.

On the plus side, this means there are more people for the battle with Negan. More people means a greater likelihood our favorite people will survive. That sounds morbid, but such is the zombocalypse, baby.

More: At Least One Walking Dead Star "Hated" the First Half of Season 7

This new community is affectionately being referred to on the interwebz as the "Garbage Pail Kids." How quaint! How charming! Interestingly, showrunner Scott M. Gimple may have even given a nod to this community in a recent statement.

When asked by Entertainment Weekly about who the mysterious boot-wearing spy could be, Gimple replied, "I'm just going to say that Rick is going to meet this person and/or persons pretty quickly. The answers are just around the heap. I cannot wait for people to meet this character and to see this actor. There is some formidable fun coming up."

Did you catch it? Just around the heap. As in a trash heap? Could this be a coincidental choice of diction? I think not. I believe Gimple chose the word with intention. So that certainly bodes in favor of the boots belonging to someone from the so-called Garbage Pail Kids.

Are there other possibilities? I have one other theory. Remember the woman from the all-female Oceanside Community who helped Tara escape? I want to believe it could be her and she could become an integral part of the survivors' narrative, because otherwise that entire episode seems so disjointed from the rest of the season.

More: It's About to Get Real According to the New Walking Dead Season 7 Synopsis

She clearly had her doubts about her own community. Perhaps she has fled (or been banished for helping Tara) and will eventually seek asylum in Alexandria.

Happily, if Gimple is true to his word, we won't have to wait long to find out.

Don't forget to tune into the midseason premiere this Sunday, Feb. 12, at 9/8c.

If it doesn't work out with The Bachelor's Nick, Vanessa has a backup plan

The Bachelor's Vanessa may be falling in love with Nick Viall six weeks into the show, but during her audition she initially had her eye on another Bachelor suitor.

More: Everything Nick Viall Has Done Right and Wrong as the Bachelor

Warning: Do not continue reading unless you want some potential season finale spoilers from The Bachelor Season 21.

Vanessa admitted to Glamour that she told producers she wanted Chase, third runner-up from Jojo Fletcher's season, to be the man handing out roses in Season 21. Now, in all fairness, Vanessa said she only named Chase because she thought she had to pick from the pool of men from the previous season of The Bachelorette. When she found out Viall was the guy, she was ecstatic.

Let's call it fate since rumor has it Vanessa and Viall will end the season engaged, though Reality Steve is claiming the two are already on the rocks since Viall apparently never had any intention of actually getting hitched. He's apparently only interested in boosting his brand through some additional Bachelor fame.

More: Sounds Like Corinne's Former Flame Wants Her Back Once Bachelor Wraps

If that's all true then perhaps Vanessa and Chase were #endgame all along.

Chase is all for that outcome. During a text conversation between him and fellow Jojo Fletcher suitor, Robbie, Chase called #dibs on Vanessa if she doesn't end up with Nick.

"Vanessa is looking like fire at this rose ceremony," Chase wrote. "Did you see that article of her saying she wanted me to be the Bachelor?"

Something tells me Chase should hold his breath.

George Lopez crossed the joke line into racist territory

Comedians are expected to walk a fine line. During standup, racism, sexism and misogyny generally become topics we can laugh about because a good comedian will shed light on the topics in a way that is both enlightening and ridiculous.

More: Erik Estrada: George Lopez's Career is Over

George Lopez missed the mark during a Phoenix, Arizona show on Saturday night.

"There are only two rules in the Latino family. Don’t marry somebody black, and don’t park in front of our house," Lopez said during his set, which spurred an offended woman to give Lopez the middle finger from the audience.

OK, all comedians have, no doubt, faced some harsh criticism throughout their careers, but Lopez only made the situation worse.

TMZ obtained a video that captured the moment Lopez lost it on the woman, calling her a "bitch" among other choice phrases.

More: George Lopez Was Mistaken for a Housekeeper, and He's Pissed

"Sit your fucking ass down," Lopez repeated three times. "I’m talking, bitch. You paid to see a show. Sit your ass down. You can’t take a joke, you’re in the wrong motherfucking place. Sit your fucking ass down or get the fuck out of here."

He heckled the woman so much that she and her three friends finally left.

Remember that fine line I talked about at the beginning of this article? Ya, Lopez bulldozed right over it and steamrolled into inappropriate territory. So inappropriate that Lopez might need help or he might need to lay off the alcohol... Whatever the case may be, a change needs to happen in Lopez's life if he was to be an entertainer instead of a terrifying hurricane.

As of now, Lopez has yet to comment on the incident. Maybe he just... Shouldn't.

Meghan Markle's Suits Character Is, Once Again, Facing a Major Issue

The second half of Suits Season 6 is turning out to be quite the feat for every character involved. Based on the exclusive clip shared below, it looks like Rachel (Meghan Markle) is once again facing a major issue regarding her future law career.

More: Suits' Harvey Finally Got the Closure With His Mom He's Always Deserved

She really can't catch a break, can she? Ever since Mike went to prison for fraud, Rachel's time at law school and her career has been negatively impacted. Her dad even offered her a job at his firm because he knows how difficult it is going to be for Rachel, especially since she's now chosen to stick with Specter Litt.

During Wednesday's brand new episode, Rachel goes to Louis asking for help. Apparently, she got a letter saying she isn't getting into the bar and won't be granted an interview. Of course, Louis flies into a rage and immediately declares, "This is bullshit." Louis promises Rachel he will figure it out, so she gets her interview.

As Rachel says in the clip, the bar is probably holding her relationship with Mike against her, but she thought she would at least have the chance to defend herself. Knowing Louis, he'll handle it. Let's just hope he doesn't make it worse, because sometimes that happens whenever he is involved.

According to episode description, it also appears this particular letter rejecting Rachel "creates unexpected issues for Harvey and Louis." Of course it does, because nothing can ever be easy. The rest of the episode will also focus on Mike mentoring Oliver and Marissa at the law clinic and Donna getting some kind of "surprise" from the IT department, whatever that means.

We'll have to wait and see how all of this pans out when Suits airs tonight at 10/9c on USA.

Survivor: Game Changers Announces Questionable Season 34 Cast Choices

$

0

Here we go! Twenty returning castaways are set to dig their toes in the sand for another attempt at winning $1 million on Survivor. In its 34th edition, Survivor is twisting things up again with a "Game Changers" theme featuring a cast of former strategic, strong players.

"Let's be clear what we call a game changer," host Jeff Probst said. "My definition is people who are willing to make a move to try to change the game. We picked 20 people who love to play."

For me, that means people like winners Tony Vlachos or Sandra Diaz-Twine. Those signify true "game changers," and thankfully both of them will be on this season. Could Sandra pull off her third victory? We shall see.

More: Why Survivor's Jeff Probst is wrong about not doing an all-winner season

But when looking at the lineup, many of these contestants don't match Probst's definition at all. Some of them are questionable when it comes to being qualified as a game changer. With dozens upon dozens of previous strategic competitors worthy of retribution, we're stuck with a gaggle of forgettable, boring choices.

Let me explain.

Full cast photo for Survivor: Game Changers
Image: CBS

First up, there's Hali Ford. I bet you can't remember who she is without a quick Google search. Heck, you may still not recall anything about her even if you did look her up. Let me refresh your brain a bit.

Survivor GIF
Image: Tumblr

She competed on Survivor: Worlds Apart (Season 30) as part of the "No Collar" tribe. The most notable thing she did the entire season was create the merged tribe's name, which just so happened to be among the worst ever -- Merica. Overall, she was the eighth person booted that season, becoming the first member of the jury. Game changer? Nope.

Then there's Brad Culpepper.

Survivor GIF
Image: Giphy

While I could see him reaching a pseudo "game changer" level for setting a precedent of burning hidden Idol clues, he also doesn't stand out much beyond that. He was the sixth person eliminated from Survivor: Blood Vs. Water (Season 27), and didn't even land on the jury.

We also have Troy "Troyzan" Robertson, who is most remembered for shouting "this is my island!" when his back was up against the wall on the lackluster Survivor: One World (Season 24).

Survivor GIF
Image: Tumblr

Although I think his nickname alone makes him memorable, I don't necessarily think there's a strong argument to be made that he's a true "game changer."

The casting of Brad and Troyzan has another odd layer to it, though. I think what makes the decision to cast these men even so strange is connected to the fan vote, which determined the cast of Survivor: Cambodia — Second Chance (Season 31). If the fans didn't tally enough ballots to bring these guys back for that season, then what makes the producers at CBS think we suddenly want to watch them play again? I know I don't.

Then we have Debbie Wanner.

Survivor GIF
Image: Tumblr

Memorable? Absolutely. Game changer? Forget about it. Although she stuck around Survivor: Kaoh Rong (Season 32) for quite a while, her biggest moments came from the kooky Coach-esque conversations she gushed when describing her endless list of jobs.

More: Debbie Wanner discusses Survivor bullies

Let's not forget the casting of Caleb Reynolds.

Big Brother GIF
Image: CBS

Originally a star of Big Brother, he was given his first shot at Survivor on Season 32. His strength is undeniable, but his status as a game changer simply doesn't fit. He was only in the game for nine days before a frightening medical emergency forced his evacuation from the competition. Now, please don’t get me wrong, I think Caleb is a fun player to watch with a lot of potential. But a medevac elimination that early in the competition simply doesn’t cut it as a "game changer." Sorry. It doesn't.

More: Caleb Reynolds relives his Survivor game-ending emergency

Oh, yeah. Sierra Dawn-Thomas, anybody? Exactly my point.

Survivor GIF
Image: Imgur

Many fans have also been questioning some of these so-called "game changers" on social media.

Now that I've essentially brutally blasted the casting choices for this season, there are still a slew of strong previous players within this wild bunch who definitely deserve their designation as a "game changer." Tony Vlachos, Sandra Diaz-Twine, Aubry Bracco, Ciera Eastin, Cirie Fields, Malcolm Freberg, Jeff Varner, Ozzy Lusth, Michaela Bradshaw and James "JT" Thomas are certainly standouts among this season's biggest threats. I’m glad to see each of them back for another round, too. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally stoked to watch this season.

Who will outwit, outplay and outlast all the others to claim the $1 million prize? Survivor: Game Changers kicks off with a two-hour premiere on Wednesday, March 8. The premiere just so happens to be the series' 500th episode. Impressive.

SVU's 400th Episode is Further Proof Mariska Hargitay is Everyone's Hero

$

ICYMI — which would be a serious oversight on your part — Law & Order: SVU celebrated its 400th episode this week. (Where's that little Law & Order double "boing boing" when you need it?) And besides being a damn good episode, "Motherly Love" drove home a very important point: prime time television needs more Mariska Hargitays.

More: That was fast! SVU already has an episode about Trump's latest scandal

Mull over this for a minute. Including this week's episode, Hargitay has directed nine episodes, produced 35, acted as executive producer on 9 and has starred in all 400.

That in and of itself is incredible. I mean, c'mon, it's crazy the show just made it to the 400 episode milestone. Even crazier? That we (yes, I'm looping your guilty ass in with mine) have seen ALL OF THEM.

But what makes the feat that much more inspirational is that, according to the Center for the Study of Women in Television & Film, women are disproportionately represented in television... by a large margin.

Their data shows that last year, 79 percent of the broadcast, cable, and streaming television programs featured casts with more male than female characters. Behind the scenes — in the capacity of creators, directors, writers, producers, executive producers and other creative executives — women accounted for only 26 percent.

Yes, gender inequality is still a thing, y'all.

It's heartening to consider Hargitay an example, though. For 18 years, we have grown to know and love now-Lieutenant Olivia Benson. That probably puts her in the ranks of some of your oldest friends, huh? We've taken this journey with her, and we love her for it.

Sure, we were all a bit broken-hearted when Stabler left (and we'd be lying if we said we weren't secretly hoping he'd cameo for the 400th), but Hargitay's Benson has always been the heart of the show.

More: SVU's Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni Have Reunited — for a Selfie

In an industry that tends to tell women approaching 30 they are past their prime and tries to hand them sub-par roles, Hargitay has proven that a women over 30 can absolutely carry a prime time television show. For nearly two decades, she has given girls and women someone like themselves to look up to.

For their part, the Twitterverse couldn't help gushing about Hargitay and what she has meant to all of us.

And if you look at the landscape of primetime television, I think you could easily say that Hargitay has paved the way for other stellar women in major roles. Women like Viola Davis in How to Get Away with Murder and Ellen Pompeo in Grey's Anatomy — both extremely successful female leads in ensemble casts. Women who aren't just being cast as mothers or hen-pecked housewives, as they might have been 10 years ago.

Hargitay is helping to rewrite the narrative in Hollywood that says a woman has to be any one thing, most of all never-aging. This week's episode was a beautiful testament to the many sometimes messy, yet amazing facets of being a woman.

Handed a case where she had to deal with another woman who was arguably one of the worst mothers we've seen on the show, Hargitay's Benson reacted professionally with her trademark wit and conviction. But she also expressed empathy and anger and sadness.

A woman has many nuances, and Hargitay nailed that complicated depth. When Barba asks if he can buy her a drink and she tearfully tells him she just wants to go home to her boy, she's all of us in that moment. Whether you have a kid or not, you could feel what Benson felt in that moment and it resonated you for some reason or another.

More: If Chris Noth had his way, SVU's Benson would not exist as we now know her

It's nice to be given license to be human. With Benson, we get to see a character who is very clearly strong but who also cries sometimes. This negates that silly stereotype that crying or having feelings is a sign of weakness. In fact, it's because of Benson's feelings that she is such a great cop.

All of this to say that Mariska Hargitay is basically an American hero, and we need at least 10 more like her on TV. Thanks for 400 moving episodes, Mariska . . . here's to the next 400.

What do you think? Did Hargitay nail SVU's 400th episode?

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee Shows Just How Unpopular Trump Is Abroad

$

It's no secret that the rest of the world is wary of President Trump; a Pew poll found that only 9 percent of Europeans had confidence in the then candidate as of June, 2016 — and their opinion is little better now that he's president.

More: Samantha Bee Finds the Silver Lining in the Immigration Fiasco

Trump is particularly unpopular in Scotland, as Full Frontal with Samantha Bee reminded viewers during an intriguing segment. His terrible reputation in Scotland began some time ago, when he went up against Michael Forbes. The local farmer famously refused to sell his property for a vast golf course the magnate had hoped to build. Trump had intended for this to be "the world's best golf course," so, of course, he wasn't pleased that somebody dared stand up to his big plans.

Forbes' refusal to sell was particularly notable in light of the big money Trump was willing to offer. Had he given in, he would have received £450,000, as well as an annual £50,000. The battle between Trump and Forbes got nasty at times, with Trump comparing Forbes' land to a slum.

More: Samantha Bee Reminds Us that President Obama Wasn't Perfect

Forbes is by no means the only Scottish individual with an extreme dislike of President Trump. Tonight's exclusive segment on Full Frontal with Samantha Bee highlighted the negative opinions of numerous others, who called Trump all kinds of nasty (but at times, humorous) names.

Trump In Scotland
Image: TBS

Trump's behavior rubbed Scots the wrong way so much, some have decided to rub back. One did so with a big yellow balloon, which was used to muss up Trump's hair during a visit to the Scottish parliament. The moment has since become folklore in Scotland, where residents take pride in the cheekiness of anti-Trump activists.

To supporters, of course, it matters little what the rest of the world thinks of Trump. When presented with statistics about his unpopularity abroad, many either gleefully point out the economic issues plaguing Europe, or claim that, in light of his 'America First' approach, the opinions of Europeans matter little. Still, for those of us concerned about President Trump's many controversial executive orders, it's interesting to see that we're not alone.

What do you think of Scotland's impression of Trump? Are you concerned about his poor reputation abroad, or does it not matter in light of his 'America First' approach to international relations? Comment and share your opinion below.

The 100's Lindsey Morgan on How All Girls Can Help Save the World IRL

$

You probably know Lindsey Morgan best for her role as Raven Reyes in The 100. Raven is a badass fighter, who also knows a thing or two about mechanics, explosives and computers. She is basically the type of woman most little girls look up to and want to be.

More: 10 Reasons You Must Watch The 100

Like Raven, Morgan is someone young women should be choosing as their role model. Not only does she inspire as Raven, but the 26-year-old empowers through her everyday life. That's something Morgan opened up about while talking with SheKnows.

"It doesn’t matter what sex I am, I’m capable of anything," Morgan powerfully said. "If anything, men can’t do what we can. We’re magical." That's something she also wants girls to know, especially if they find a passion in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

Far too often are women seen as incapable of having a STEM-related career. Unfortunately, there are even those who believe there should be a limit to how many women holding a job involving math or science. Apparently, for some, if you want to focus on science, math, technology or and/or engineering, you must be a man.

Raven Reyes
Image: Tumblr

That's not what Morgan believes, especially as someone who plays a woman who's passionate about all of those subjects. "I think science is sexy and it kind of kills me that in our society that we don't revere that for women or we don't encourage women to explore that," she said. "I think it's ridiculous. So, I do hope that Raven inspires girls that are interested in STEM to keep pursuing their dreams and other girls that are like, 'That's pretty cool, I want to be an astronaut.'"

Speaking of becoming an astronaut, one day we just might see Morgan up in space. No, we don't mean as Raven, but in real life. "If anything, Raven's inspired me to be an astronaut," she revealed. "I tweeted the space camp and now I think I'm going to space camp this year." How amazing is that?

More: 12 Empowering Celeb Tweets in Honor of International Women's Day

For Morgan, one of the many reasons she loves playing Raven is because how much she influences others. "I hope Raven can be a trendsetter in that sense," Morgan said. "We need to see much more women in these very science and mathematic oriented roles."

It's something she tries to integrate into her life whenever she gets the chance. Specifically, Morgan likes to inspire girls through activism, as she said, "Maybe a year or so ago, we were doing this big charity project for The 100 during our hiatus and every month different cast members had a month and they were raising money for charities they were passionate about."

Morgan chose to focus on one all about young girls who love coding. "I was raising one for girls who code. It was about women all in STEM research and they would get scholarships and they would fund girls who wanted to go further in those fields." It's something she hopes to do again soon during her free time.

In addition to pushing girls to follow their dreams, Morgan also wants them to recognize how powerful their minds are. She also wants those with disabilities to know they can do whatever they put their minds to. It's something that Raven demonstrates with each new episode of The 100.

Ever since Murphy shot Raven in the leg, which left her with nerve damage, she's been living with a disability. Being disabled has also taught Raven how to use her mind to fight back, since she cannot physically go into battle as often as she formerly did.

"Because of her leg injury, it’s physically benched her from a lot of the 'adventures' and 'fights,'" Morgan said. "At first, I was kind of like, 'Oh, that kind of sucks,' because I have a lot of scenes where I’m alone." Eventually, the former General Hospital star recognized Raven's disability was a powerful thing.

"But then I realized, 'Wow, this is exactly what people with handicaps or disabilities feel like,'" she said. "They feel benched and that sucks. It’s a terrible feeling and I can now totally empathize on a whole another level, but the best thing about Raven is she found a way to be even more useful than being out in the field." She does that often with her mind, like when she fixes the radio, ensures the walkie-talkies work and when she walked Clarke through the City of Light to save everyone on Earth.

With her leg injury, Raven also shows others that you don't have to be physically badass to be a leader or a hero. "What I love about Raven and her disability is that she can show a whole new audience and everyone that you don’t need to have amazing fighting skills or huge muscles or both your legs to kick ass," Morgan noted. "Raven kicks ass by being Raven and by using her mind. If anything, your mind is your most important tool, I find. Raven really promotes that, intelligence. I think that’s badass."

Not only is it a great thing to see an empowering female character on TV, but it's also inspiring to see that the actress who plays her is trying to make the world a better place for young women.

You can catch Morgan inspire weekly as Raven when The 100 airs Wednesday at 9/8c on The CW.

The 400th Episode of Law & Order: SVU is Laser-Focused on a Bad Mom

$

It was simultaneously business as usual and business as not-so-usual for the latest installment of Law & Order: SVU. The long-running crime procedural hit a major milestone on Wednesday night and it's definitely worth raising a glass in honor. Law & Order: SVU hit its 400th episode, and even better, it was directed by one of the show's original cast members, Mariska Hargitay.

More: SVU Will Reunite Mariska Hargitay With a Former Flame This Season

The episode, titled "Motherly Love," began not with a whisper but a bang. A literal gunshot to be precise. When teenage boy Luke came home unexpectedly to the sight of his mother, Nicole, apparently being assaulted, Luke took aim and shot the attacker. That attacker, it turned out, was Luke's best friend, Trey. When Olivia and Rollins go to question Nicole about the attack, something seems off. She feeds them a story about how Trey came over looking for Luke, who wasn't home. When Nicole tried to get Trey out of the house since she was getting ready for bed, he attempted to rape her.

Law & Order SVU: Group Shot

Meanwhile, Trey's parents are distraught. As the parents of a young black boy, they initially decried the incident as racially motivated despite Tutuola's firm statement that the incident had nothing to do with Trey's race. Instead, as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Trey was not the mastermind Nicole portrayed him to be. After Tutuola and Rollins found racy photos of Trey and Nicole in bed together, they knew the story they were initially told was false.

More: SVU's Great Because Olivia Benson Tirelessly Defends Rape Victims

When it is revealed that Nicole was not only having sexual relations with Trey but also Luke & Trey's friend, Ethan, Benson brought Nicole in for questioning. While she vehemently denied any wrongdoing, the evidence was beginning to stack up against her. "A psychiatrist who is abusing teenage boys, emotionally damaging her own son. That is deeper than lying. It's pathological," Benson tells Tutuola. The plot thickens and things begin to take a clearer shape when it comes to who exactly is culpable in Trey's death.

Law & Order SVU: Mariska Hargitay Directs
Image: Michael Parmelee/NBC

Of course, Luke doesn't believe what he hears about his mother. It takes his father, who describes Nicole as a narcissistic, pathological liar to help bring down idea of the faultlessness of Nicole. Of course, things proceed in a very familiar SVU manner: Nicole is arrested on charges of statutory rape and murder. The courtroom drama is top notch, with Nicole and her lawyer fighting for her innocence and Luke getting caught in the middle of it all.

More: Ranking the Many Loves of Law & Order: SVU's Olivia Benson

In the end, Nicole admitted on the stand what had happened. She ended up spinning her tale to portray Luke as a jealous son in love with his mother, saying he knew his mother was having sex with his best friend. Nicole's narcissism and need to stay out of jail ended up wrecking her relationship with her son, having him look like a total fool. Luke believed he would have to admit he was guilty while Benson tried to dissuade him from that. In the end, Luke gives his testimony, stating that he killed Trey because he truly believed he was saving his mother. Nicole is found guilty and whisked away to prison.

And so, another chapter of SVU comes to a close. But damn, it was a pretty great chapter.

7 The Walking Dead Season 7B Spoilers To Get You Stoked for the Premiere

$
0
0

After a thousand-year hiatus — JK, it was only, like, 100 — The Walking Dead returns this Sunday, Feb. 12 with the back half of Season 7. And as if we needed any more reasons to be stoked about the return of Rick, Daryl, Michonne and the rest of our beloved zombocalyptic heroes, the interwebz has been abuzz lately with tasty morsels about what's to come.

More: It's About to Get Real, According to The Walking Dead's New Synopsis

Suffice it to say, we're about to talk spoilers, y'all. You have officially been warned. If you don't want to hear about anything that could potentially happen in the second half of Season 7, avert your eyes.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's jump into some of the speculation currently circulating about what the near future holds for our Alexandrian friends.

1. We get to meet the Garbage Pail Kids

Between those weird teaser pics of random produce and the latest release featuring a decidedly motley new crew, it's no wonder The Spoiling Dead Fans says we'll soon be meeting TWD's newest faction: The Garbage Pail Kids. Since it is possible a member of this community is the mysterious boot-wearing spy creeping around as of late, it will be interesting to see how their introduction shakes out.

More: The Walking Dead's New Season 7 Teaser Photos Are Weird AF

2. Dark days are ahead for Daryl

Just when you thought Daryl's troubles were finally behind him, Wetpaint comes along and suggests that poor Daryl isn't out of the bell jar just yet. According to the site, Daryl and Rick are going to do a little flipsy-flop when the show returns on Sunday — Rick will prove more patient and compassionate, and Daryl will venture into dark and scary territory following his torture by Negan.

3. Eugene will face questionable moral situations

AMC actually provided us with several spoilers when they released a synopsis for 7B. In that synopsis, it says, "An Alexandrian discovers they must navigate the mysterious, confusing, and terrifying world within the Saviors' compound." Since Daryl has already been down that road and Eugene was taken hostage by Negan at the close of the first half, it's safe to say ol' Mullethead is looking at some serious self-reflection.

4. King Ezekiel makes more than a passing cameo

Remember when we met King Ezekiel and his badass (CGI) tiger? If it seems like a distant blip in your memory, it's probably because we only really got one solid episode with Ezekiel. And while we wouldn't want to spend an entire episode with all of the new communities we've met lately, Ezekiel's Kingdom is one we certainly wouldn't mind seeing more of. Happily, it looks like we'll get our wish — according to Spoiler TV, episode 13 (ominously titled "Bury Me Here") features an Ezekiel-centric storyline: "Things do not go as planned when a group of Kingdommers delivers goods to the Saviors during a routine supply drop-off." Sounds like trouble! Maybe Shiva will eat someone. Kidding! Sort of.

5. Sasha will play a major role (finally)

Although Sonequa Martin-Green is now a longtime character on the series, she's always sort of been on the fringe of the action. The poor girl has been unlucky in love, that's for sure, but other than that she has been woefully underrepresented on screen. But things are looking up! Wetpaint contends that Sasha will play a stronger role in the war. Of course, they also say she could die at the hands of Negan, so....

6. Carole could die

SCREEEEEEEEEEECH. I imagine that's what sound your brain is making right now as it tries to slam on the brakes. Don't fret yet, though... I've got good news and bad news. The good news is that this is obviously still entirely speculation made by Raw Story based on Carol's noticeable absence thus far this season. The bad news is that in the comic series, Carol basically commits suicide by letting a walker eat her neck. No bueno, I KNOW.

More: The Walking Dead's Chandler Riggs Has Totally Hinted at a Possible Exit

7. Negan isn't going anywhere yet

If you were hoping that the second half of Season 7 would lead to a major war against Negan culminating in the nefarious villain's death, well, you'll be at least partially disappointed. According to Comicbook, the show is right on pace to end Season 7 around the same point as issue No. 120 of the comic series. What happens at that point? A great battle between the Savior's and Rick's Army, so at least there's that. However, sources also speculate that — just like in the comic series — Rick ultimately decides not to kill Negan. And although Negan will be much less powerful, he'll still be a thorn in Rick's side for quite some time. Since Jeffrey Dean Morgan has already renewed his contract for Season 8, this makes sense.

The 100’s Lindsey Morgan Drops Six Major Teasers for Season 4

$

0

With each new season of The 100 comes a lot of drama, a lot of action, a lot of adventures and a lot of surprises. Well, that certainly seems to be the case with Season 4.

More: 10 Reasons You Must Watch The 100

Fans never really know what's in store for the characters or what to expect from their storylines, but luckily Lindsey Morgan (aka Raven Reyes) dropped some teasers about the current season while chatting with SheKnows. She especially opened up about Raven's upcoming journey and her role now that the world is once again essentially coming to an end.

Here's what Morgan had to say. If you consider yourself Team Raven, then you're going to like what she teased.

1. Raven's true self

Raven, The 100
Image: Giphy

According to Morgan, Season 4 is going to focus heavily on Raven's true self. "Raven has a really interesting storyline this season," she said. "You really see her go through some incredible breakdowns, you know, if it’s mental or physical or emotional."

Now more than ever, fans are going to see the Raven they know and love from Season 1. "She’s really coming back into her own," Morgan teased. "Even though she kind of has that A.L.I.E. upgrade, Raven actually starts to become really true to herself. She finds herself back again after everything she’s been through. She kind of finds her own again and who she really is."

2. Love for Raven?

Raven, The 100
Image: Giphy

From Finn to her one-night stand with Bellamy to Wick, Raven has had her fair share of love interests over the course of the series. What about Season 4? Well, Morgan didn't come outright and say Raven will find love again, but she did say, "I wouldn’t rule out the possibility, but Raven is also, she needs different kinds of love." Maybe this season is all about Raven healing and finding love not just from a significant other, but those she calls her friends?

3. Raven's superpower

Raven, The 100
Image: Giphy

Thanks to A.L.I.E., Raven now has a special "upgrade," which is something that has changed her and how she works. Morgan explained it as follows: "It’s almost like a superpower, actually." She added, "When they extricated A.L.I.E.’s code from Raven’s brain, there’s a little piece of it that still stayed."

As bad as that may sound, Morgan said it's something that makes Raven even stronger than she already was. "It’s almost like a silver lining to all of the terribleness Raven has gone through." She added, "It’s almost like she has an ability to computer hack or code, but just her brain is working on all cylinders in a faster and better way. Even though Raven’s brilliant to begin with, she’s at a whole 'nother level because of A.L.I.E.’s help."

4. Raven against Clarke

Raven, The 100
Image: Giphy

It's not shocking for Raven and Clarke to be at odds. In Season 1, they definitely didn't see eye to eye. However, their relationship has grown and formed into a friendship. That said, Morgan revealed Clarke and Raven will butt heads this season.

"This season is interesting, because you do see Raven and Clarke go at it a little bit because Raven is stepping up as a leader," Morgan unveiled. "Raven feels differently about how Clarke is going to be running things, how Bellamy wants to lead, and we don’t have time to mess around. So, Raven, she’s worried and she wants to do the right thing. So when she sees something that she doesn’t think is the right thing, she’s gonna call it out."

5. Raven, the leader

Raven, The 100
Image: Giphy

As Morgan also teased above, Raven is going to become a leader. "That’s why I think this season is really interesting for her, because Raven becomes as a leader in her own right and that’s a cool new thing that we haven’t seen from Raven before," she said. It's about time Raven starts commanding others and possibly even running her own team just like Clarke.

6. Raven's "cool," but "scary" journey

Raven, The 100
Image: Giphy

Like pretty much every other season so far of The 100, Season 4 is going to be filled with fear and the unknown. Basically, it's kind of terrifying. "It gets a little dicey at the end, but it’s good," Morgan dished. "Raven has a really cool journey this year, but it’s pretty scary, pretty scary at the end."

Who else is ready to see what's ahead for Raven?

The 100 airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on The CW.

So Long, Jolex! Grey's Anatomy Needs to Ship Jo and DeLuca

First of all, fellow Grey's fans, let's bring it in for a big ol' virtual team hug. It's nice to have our show back, right? Like a fine wine, it just keeps getting better. That includes this week's episode, "None of Your Business," which featured a major development: DeLuca tanking the charges against Alex.

More: Raise Your Hands if the Last Three Minutes of Grey's Anatomy Made You Scream

To be fair, that wasn't the only exciting thing that happened this week — in fact, the episode was pretty wild. I mean, did you see that lady wrapped in razor wire? Ouch.

And, of course, there was also the continued power struggle between Bailey, Minnick and Webber. Not only are the Attendings still blocking Minnick from surgeries, but Meredith pushed back against Bailey so hard that Bailey suspended her. AND REPLACED HER WITH APRIL.

At least temporarily. Yo, April, WTF? Get your life together, dude.

Also, Amelia is still hiding out in Stephanie's apartment. Owen is still knocking on the door every day, pleading for her to come home, which has become increasingly painful to watch. Tbh, Amelia's pity party is gettin' kinda old. Isn't it about time Owen finds happiness?

Oh, it's also worth mentioning that Maggie's mom came to town unexpectedly. Maggie acted like a total brat to her, unaware of the fact that Jackson just diagnosed her with breast cancer. Yet another good reason never to be disrespectful to your mama, y'all.

But the arc that set social media on fire was predictably the news that Alex is now officially a free man. As he explained to Maggie and Mer, DeLuca busted into the DA's office when Alex went to take the plea deal, forcing the DA to drop the case.

The only one who seems to have pieced the puzzle of DeLuca's motive together is Ben. The reason? Hello! DeLuca's in love with Jo. We all knew it... we've been watching it brew for awhile now.

At first, I was totally against the idea of this pairing. Not because I didn't like DeLuca — what's not to like? — but because I had a soft spot for Jo and Alex, aka Jolex. However, I feel like the final few moments of this week's episode really helped to shift my feelings about the status of that 'ship (and the potential for another).

After finding out that Alex isn't in jail, Jo shows up at his door. The two stare at each other for a few minutes before embracing fiercely. Then Jo simply walks away. Alex turns around and walks back inside. The walls are back up, people.

It used to occur to me that Jo and Alex were so perfect for each other because they were so similar. They understand each other, because they both had rough childhoods. They are both used to fending for themselves in a way that few people around them have experienced.

Think of the moment when Alex asked DeLuca why he did what he did, though. After some prodding, DeLuca finally said, "Jo has been through enough." When Alex commented that Jo would probably say she could take care of herself, DeLuca responded with something to the effect of, "Well, she would have to."

Jo and Alex have both been fighting their whole lives, just trying to tread water. Even in their relationship, it's been a constant struggle to trust each other and get to the point they were before Alex attacked DeLuca.

Maybe it is time for them to be with people who ease their troubles — people who lessen their burdens so they can finally stop fighting for their footing. DeLuca obviously wants to be that person for Jo, and I'm inclined to encourage it. He was kind of the hero tonight.

And, I'm just throwing this out there, Alex has a BFF who is basically already that person for him.

What do you think? Do you ship Jo and DeLuca, or are you Team Jolex?

Supernatural's Dean losing his memory turned out to actually be a good thing

Dean Winchester losing his memory sounds like the worst thing that could ever happen on Supernatural, especially when he can't remember his own name or even the face of his brother. That's exactly what happened during Thursday's episode, but it turned out to be truly a great thing.

More: Supernatural’s Dean & Sam Need Castiel Now More Than Ever Before

In the end, Sam enlisted the help of Rowena to save Dean. So all is good and Dean is back to normal. But what made the episode one of the best ever (and of Season 12, so far) is watching Dean's journey from his normal self deteriorating into a man losing himself, his mind, his memories and his life.

Supernatural fans know how well Dean-centric episodes usually go. Really, they are some of the best of the series and the same can be said for tonight's "Regarding Dean." And if you think about it, these particular episodes wouldn't be successful without Jensen Ackles.

He is a shining star who has created the Dean we all know and love to this day. We watched him tonight go from regular hunter Dean, who slowly transformed into a Dean who had no idea about hunting, supernatural beings or everyday objects. Regarding the latter, he even called a lamp a "light stick," which actually makes sense if you think about it.

Moving on. Ackles then played an unrecognizable Dean Winchester who stared at himself in the mirror with a single man tear streaking down his face repeatedly uttering so he wouldn't forget, "My name is Dean Winchester. Sam is my brother. Mary Winchester is my mom. And Cas is my best friend." It was beyond heartbreaking to watch.

Ackles' ability to go from comedy (and he was so on point with his comedy) to drama in the matter of seconds shows why he's in the right profession. That's the type of performance Ackles gave tonight. Without him, this episode wouldn't have been a hit.

So as sad and as depressing as it was to watch Dean forget things, himself and those he loves, it created a memorable episode and some of the best Dean scenes. Oh, and did any did anyone else's heart break a little bit when Sam said watching Dean forget was actually harder than all the times he's seen him die? Just add that to the long list of all the brotherly love moments between Sam and Dean that is capable of causing us to cry.

These are the types of episodes fans love and will never forget. They produce powerful performances and just the right amount of comedy and emotion, all while illustrating once again why Sam and Dean's bond is unbreakable. What more could Supernatural fans ask for?

If we have to watch Dean lose his memories (and of course get them back at the end) in order for a fantastic episode, we'll take it. "Regarding Dean" truly was another gift to Supernatural fans.

Supernatural airs Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW.

The Archie Comic Reboot That Broke the Hearts of ‘80s Kids Everywhere

If you were born in the '80s, prepare to spend the next one and a half minutes muttering, "What the actual fuck?" under your breath.

Prepare to have your heart broken.

Prepare to have one of the most classic of classics from your childhood thoroughly ruined.

Are you ready? (I take that back. You'll never truly be ready for this).

Now, if you're like me, you spent the first 25 seconds watching with bland disinterest. Like, "Ah. I see they've made another one of these dark CW shows about sexy, murderous teens. How splendid."

And then they name-dropped Archie and you may have registered a glimmer of something. Maybe not much more than, "Huh. That's an odd name," and perhaps, if you are smarter than I am, you might have connected Archie + Riverdale and understood what this show truly was.

More: Riverdale Gave the Archie Characters One Hell of a Makeover

For me, however, the realization dawned in agonizingly slow motion.

"Wait, this is Riverdale. Like...Riverdale-Riverdale!"

"Is that... emo Jughead?"

"Is that Archie and... good God, Miss Grundy making out in the backseat of his jalopy?"

"Is that supposed to be Veronica Lodge? Why is she wearing a cape?!"

It only got worse as the scenes flickered before me like a bad dream.

Josie. A gun. Someone's ass hanging out of a bathing suit. A suitcase of money. Archie getting into a fight that wasn't about Betty or Veronica. Ladies slapping each other and looking menacing. Rain. Cars on fire. And to top it all off, Veronica seductively cooing to Archie, "You're a little more dangerous than you look."

I know it's been awhile since any of us read Archie comics, but let me assure you that while Archie has many surprising qualities, being dangerous absolutely isn't one of them.

Allow me to refresh your memories. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Archie Andrews:

Archie
Image: Archie Comics

This grinning, affable, good-natured redhead. Remember him? He calls his dad "Pops" and loves milkshakes; his biggest problem in life is whether to choose a blonde or a brunette.

Archie does not murder and/or investigate murders. Archie does not angrily shove dudes in darkly lit scenes as ominous pop music plays in the background. And, perhaps most important, Archie does not sleep with his teacher, Miss Grundy! Not only because in Archie comics Miss Grundy has always been portrayed as an elderly woman, but also because Miss Grundy would never cross that line.

A teacher sleeping with a teenage student isn't a dramatic plot point, it's statutory rape, regardless of the of the victim's gender.

I'm so bewildered by this show. Bewildered and, I'm almost embarrassed to admit, heartbroken.

I mean, Archie isn't even a product of the 80's strictly speaking, the characters first appeared in 1941. Nonetheless, the comics have always seemed like a staple of 80's life.

And it's not that I'm against revamps of '80s classics, either. I embraced the new Ghostbusters with open arms. I love that TMNT has gotten big again, and I'm all for a reboot of the Power Rangers. I'm proud of the '80s and seeing bits and pieces of it come back with a modern edge makes me happily nostalgic.

This, though?

Honestly, my main question is why.

There's nothing in the trailer that suggests to me that Riverdale is in any way linked to the Archie comic series other than the characters' names. The Archie character could have just as well been a Chad or a Charlie — come on, he would have made a great Charlie! And the town would have made just as much sense if it were Springbank or Wakefield.

Riverdale would have lost nothing by introducing itself as a standalone series with new characters, new relationships and new plotlines. Instead, they tried to capitalize on the popularity of a classic by unceremoniously ripping away names of a town and a handful of characters and loosely draping them over dark, mature storylines where they sit, ill-fitting and incongruous, unnerving, like wax figures.

It's Archie, but it's not Archie. Betty but not Betty.

More: Hollywood Needs to Cut Out the Reboots Before the Industry Is Ruined

Younger viewers unfamiliar with the series' origin likely won't notice anything amiss, but for us '80s kids, it feels incredibly unsettling, like something innocent has been taken advantage of and made darker when innocence is in short supply as it is.

Granted, I'm not exactly unbiased. My five siblings and I were raised on Archie comics. We bought them with our allowance money, traded them and read them cover to cover on long road trips to our cottage each summer.

This was pre-smartphone, pre-handheld tablets. The comic books were accessible, affordable and our sole source of entertainment. They were also reassuring in their familiarity: Archie was always bungling something and trying to impress Mr. Lodge, Reggie was always conniving, sometimes alongside his rich-girl counterpart Ronnie. Jughead spent his whole life in a hammock or evading Big Ethel's amorous advances.

The main characters' love lives never progressed much beyond kissing despite decades-long courtship, and Riverdale was largely exempt from current events and politics too.

In short, life was safe within the frames of those black-lined drawings.

I'm more saddened than perhaps I ought to be that teens watching The CW's Riverdale won't know those simple plots and predictable storylines. The new series is flashier, yes. More mysterious and tantalizing. But we've traded earnest crushes and diner friendships for murder and sly seduction.

The CW has brought the slick, conniving world of adults into earnest, idyllic Riverdale and this '80s baby is heartbroken.

Top Chef's Brooke Williamson Spills the Beans on Shirley Chung's Sleeping Habits

Can we just take a moment to talk about how adorable Sheldon Simeon and his wife Janice are? Of course, he was the only one who recognized her voice during the Quickfire Challenge.

Of course they were cute AF throwing mushrooms at each other. And of course they shared this kiss and made us all melt into puddles on our respective couches.

But then Simeon grabbed a container of okra while shopping at Whole Foods — and we all know that Tom Colicchio hates okra. So was this Simeon's kiss of death?

Are you still holding your breath? Don't. Colicchio loved it! He and the rest of the judges were also blown away during the Elimination Challenge by Shirley Chung's ability to perfectly meld worlds — her Chinese heritage and southern Charleston cooking. At this point, Chung has had so much success on the show, we wouldn't be surprised one bit if she won the whole dang thing. But we're getting ahead of ourselves.

Instead, let's talk about the unfortunate eliminee: Brooke Williamson.

You hear us, Williamson? Kick ass on Last Chance Kitchen and make the comeback we all know you're capable of.

Anyway, let's get into the Q&A. Here's how she felt about the elimination.

More: Katsuji Tanabe & John Tesar, Listen Up: Top Chef's Sylva Senat Has Words for You

SheKnows: Were you surprised by your elimination?

Brooke Williamson: Not at all. I knew it was coming.

SK: What was it like working with all the judges on the show? Who's the most intimidating?

BW: I have a massive amount of love and respect for them all. They, hands down, know their shit and are all intimidating in their own way. I will say, the more I felt like I knew them, the more intimidating it all got, simply because I respected their opinions.

SK: Which contestant do you think deserves to win? Or who are you rooting for?

BW: At the risk of sounding sappy, I can honestly say we all do. Top Chef, in my opinion, is not a competition strictly based on raw talent. It's also about adapting to your surroundings and performing on cue. It's not for everyone. But if we are measuring who can cook their butts off the best, I could see any one of us winning that competition on a good day. Sheldon is like family to me, so I have a soft spot for him, as does anyone with a heartbeat.

SK: Who did you consider your biggest competition?

BW: Coming out of the gate, after watching Silvia [Barban] kill it in the first Quickfire, I for sure had my eye on her and on Jim [Smith] (obviously). Casey [Thompson] intimidated me because I think we have very similar styles, and I knew she could bring it. Shirley and Sheldon were also always in the back of my head, if that narrows it down at all.

SK: Was there anyone on the show you really clashed with? Who was it and why?

BW: I'm not big on drama. I had a job that I was there to do, and I'm so much more content thinking about the lifelong friendships that I gained.

More: Top Chef's Katsuji Tanabe Has One More John Tesar Burn Left in Him

SK: What's one thing that happened behind the scenes viewers didn't get to see on the show?

BW: Nerves run high when under such intense pressure and sleep deprivation. There were tears (mostly while watching The Notebook), naps on the floor pretty much anywhere, lots of laughs. Oh, and every once in a while I was awakened by Shirley sleep-yelling at her pillow in the middle of the night (sorry, Shirley, my love, but you're an intense little ball of fire).

SK: Who do you think deserved to go home on last night’s episode?

BW: I did. There was no question in my mind that I had made the biggest mistakes of the day.

SK: What was the best experience you had on the show?

BW: Aside from the incredible friends that I have made, I have to say that my experiences on Top Chef (Seattle and Charleston) have been periods of intense mental growth. I have come to learn that I am capable of more than I sometimes give myself credit for. Helicopters, boats, fear of the unexpected and total lack of control — all situations that I have deliberately put myself in while being simultaneously terrified of it all. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

SK: What was the biggest challenge for you on the show?

BW: My answer from the last question... that and doing it all without the support that I am used to getting from my family. My husband is always there to catch me when I fall, and in real life, I am constantly reminded of why it all matters just by kissing my son goodnight. To not have that for such a huge chunk of time was crushing.

SK: Who's your favorite Top Chef contestant of all time and why?

BW: I can't answer this question. We're all family — the good, the bad and the ugly.

GH Star Kirsten Storm Is Feeling the Heat From Fans Over Her Appearance

It isn’t easy being in the public eye, especially when you are going through personal issues. It seems that General Hospital star Kirsten Storms might be under stress and fans aren’t letting her off the hook.

More: TV Legend Barbara Tarbuck Dies at Age 74

Storms’ recent appearance on the ABC soap has drawn a lot of concern from viewers who think she looks gaunt and unhealthy. On Facebook and Twitter, fans have criticized everything from her hair and makeup to her weight. It can’t be easy to read the negative comments.

It’s no secret that Storms had a tough year in 2016. She divorced her husband and former co-star Brandon Barash after almost three years of marriage. The split is amicable, and they often share photos on social media of their co-parenting adventures with daughter Harper Rose, 3.

Storms also took a leave of absence from GH last May after suffering from a stress acne breakout. She was open with her fans about her emotional state at the time.

"My dr's say my breakouts are due to stress, but shouldn't take too long to get under control (I can say that I'm on the better end of it now),” she wrote on Twitter. “However, it was becoming too difficult for GH to cover up. And we all know in this biz appearance is important.”

Molly Burnett replaced Storms briefly until she was ready to return. In a previous leave of absence, Storms was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2011 and took close to a year to heal. Former Days of Our Lives star Jen Lilley took her place then.

For now, Storms has remained silent on the topic of her health. She has not responded to any tweets from fans, either.

Whatever Storms is going through, it is her business, and she can choose to speak up and share her story when she’s ready. In the meantime, GH fans should be supportive of her. She’s doing her best with her ex-husband to create a loving environment for their daughter.
