The Oprah Winfrey Show Episodes That Resonate Now More Than Ever

$

Every day when the clock strikes 4 p.m., I mourn just a little bit. I know it’s been six years, but I still miss The Oprah Winfrey Show. I know that she has an entire network now filled with delightful shows like Oprah: Where Are They Now? and Super Soul Sunday, but I still miss The Oprah Winfrey Show. I know that she has just announced that she will be a special contributor to 60 Minutes, but I still miss The Oprah Winfrey Show.

In fact, maybe all this stuff just makes me miss it more — like when you bump into an ex with a new person on their arm or when you eat an OK piece of pizza that is just good enough to remind you of a really good piece of pizza from your past.

More: Oprah Winfrey Joining CBS's 60 Minutes Couldn't Have Come at a Better Time

Especially these days, I just miss the hour of positivity and insight in my days — a chance to reassure myself that not everything and everyone is out for themselves and also a chance to see some really uplifting makeovers. Who knew a wrap dress and a flirty bob could really change everything?

Anyone else just want to sit back and think about our favorite Oprah Winfrey episodes? Let’s get in the way-back machine.

The time she asked her audience to pay it forward

In October of 2006, Winfrey gave each person in her audience $1,000 and a handheld camera and asked them to do one simple thing: something good. The results, which came in one week later, were so emotionally buoying that I think I’m still a little high from it. While some people simply gave the money to a good cause, many used their funds as a jumping off point for larger projects: Minnie Scheidt used her cash to raise over $70,000 for a community member with cancer, while Megan O’Gorman spent her money to help the parents who lived in the Hawaiian Islands buy plane tickets to see their sick children in a Honolulu hospital. She was shocked when Go! Airlines paid it forward again with 40 extra tickets.

This was Winfrey at her best: taking a simple idea and spreading it across the country while also inspiring people at home to take action in their own lives. The only problem — we can't find a clip of it anywhere online, but you can watch the story of one woman who paid it forward here. But don't worry, we have tons of other clips below!

The Coble family finding hope after tragedy

I literally cannot rewatch this clip due to unstoppable crying jags, but if you haven’t seen it, you probably should. In October 2007, Winfrey interviewed Lori and Chris Coble, a couple who lost their three children, Kyle (5), Emma (4) and Katie (2) in a horrific traffic accident with a tractor-trailer. The story makes you feel bad about every single time in your entire life that you ever felt bad for yourself. But don’t worry; after a few devastating segments, Winfrey reveals that the couple decided to try to have more children and almost exactly a year after the accident, they gave birth to triplets: two girls and a boy. Spoiler: each child’s middle name is the first name of one of the children the couple lost.

Her "all good news" show

Tell me you wouldn’t watch this right now. In October 1993, Winfrey decided that she was going to dedicate a show to 100 percent good news. During the episode, she gave a pair of hardworking parents a night on the town by babysitting and even literally gave a little boy a puppy. Not only was it a wonderful hour of uplifting events, it also contained definitive proof that Winfrey isn’t totally perfect: She isn’t the best at child care.

Looking racism in the eyes

The Oprah Winfrey Show wasn’t all about puppies and makeovers. Even in its earliest years, she took on the most serious issues, from AIDS to racism. In her first season, and in one of her most memorable shows, she visited Forsyth County, Georgia, a place where no black people had lived for 75 years and a hotbed of racism. In one of the most intense shows ever, she talked with the community and shed light on a difficult issue that badly needed to see both the light of day and Winfrey’s careful, surprisingly compassionate handling.

Erin Kramp, the best mom ever

Do you still have your tissues out from watching the story of the Coble family? Good, because you are going to need them. Starting in 1998, Winfrey followed the story of Erin Kramp, a young mom who was dying of breast cancer. Kramp had a 6-year-old daughter, Peyton, and decided to leave her with a wealth of video recordings plus birthday and Christmas presents for years to come. Not only was Kramp basically the best mom on Earth, she also doled out no-nonsense advice, like “Never get a haircut when you are going through a difficult emotional time,” and “When it comes to your husband, pick a very, very nice guy who has a lot of backbone.”

After Kramp lost her battle with cancer, Winfrey checked in often, following the family through remarriage and up to when Peyton entered college. She still watches the videos, now digitized, often.

The time she tricked her Favorite Things audience

As long as she is not the one getting surprised, Winfrey loves a good little prank. My favorite one came in her last season when she was borderline cruel to her last Favorite Things audience. She and her crew set up the show so that the audience thought that they had just missed the Favorite Things filming — they saw all of the previous audience members walking out of the studio loaded down with bags of gifts. Only after teasing them for a few minutes does she reveal that, nope! they were the lucky ones.

As Winfrey says in the accompanying interview: “That was really just done so that I could entertain myself.” You and me, both, Oprah. Please come back to us and please never change.

12 of the Most Sexist Super Bowl Commercials Ever

$

0

There are a ton of reasons to love the Super Bowl, and the awesome commercials are pretty high up on the list. The plethora of ass-backwards ads geared toward men that reduce women to sexual stereotypes, however, don't exactly get us excited for the big game.

I mean, the fact that Super Bowl ads are mostly all directed toward men is sexist in itself. Do advertisers seriously think male consumers are the only ones watching the Super Bowl? It's kind of stupid if you think about it. Companies are spending millions of dollars in advertising money creating spots that are alienating a good portion of their audience. Money well spent.

More: 15 super-sexist things Disneyland's Gaston says

The public has caught onto the sexism that exists in Super Bowl ads and has fought back over the past couple of years by tweeting #NotBuyingIt and referencing some of the more offensive commercials. And companies also seem to have taken notice: The amount of insulting ads appear to be decreasing and there's even been some overcompensation in the form of a pretty sexy 2014 H&M David Beckham spot, along with a 2016 Hyundai commercial that featured a neighborhood teeming with multiple Ryan Reynolds.

But that doesn't mean the sexist ads don't still keep coming. Here's a look at some of the worst Super Bowl commercials we've witnessed over the years.

1. Cure Auto Insurance: "Avoid Distractions"

Just, no. Does this company really think their 2016 ad will entice anyone to buy their insurance? A man openly ogling a woman despite the fact his father is dying before his eyes is just wrong.

2. Buick: "She Odelled It"

Yup, women are capable of great feats of athleticism — as long as it means it'll snag them a man to marry.

3. Pepsi: Britney Spears' old-school Super Bowl commercial

2002 was a great year for those who still had a "not that innocent" crush on Britney Spears. Everybody got to ogle a bare-bellied Spears gyrating around cans of Pepsi for a good minute.

4. Miller Lite: "Catfight"

In this 2003 ad, two men weave a tale of two women aggressively fighting over beer in their underwear, as their scathing girlfriends look on. Watching two women fight is funny and sexy, right?

More: Your favorite pop star is headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show (VIDEO)

5. Bud Light: "Yoga"

Because objectifying women during yoga class is now a spectator sport.

6. Teleflora: "Valentine's Day"

The message of this ad is plainly spelled out by Adriana Lima: If a man presents a woman with flowers, then she is a sure thing. The company clearly thinks that females are simple, delicate creatures who will offer themselves up sexually when given gifts.

7. Victoria's Secret featuring Adriana Lima

Lima is back again to convey another simple message: Hey, guys! As soon as the game is over, have your woman don lingerie and you'll get laid!

8. Kia featuring Adriana Lima and Mötley Crüe

Because women don't have anything to dream about that's worthwhile besides rainbows, butterflies and our knight in shining armor, while men dream of general badassery and — surprise, surprise — a half-naked Adriana Lima.

9. Fiat: "Seduction"

Women come running when men leer at them in public according to this ad. This commercial reinforces exactly what nonprofit Hollaback tried to disprove in October: Women like to be catcalled.

10. GoDaddy: Bar Refaeli's "Big Kiss Perfect Match"

Why is she the "sexy one" and he's the "smart one"? It's possible to be a woman, be sexy and be smart all at the same time.

11. PETA: "Veggie Love"

Oh, PETA. Your heart is in the right place, but just no.

12. Carl's Jr.: Charlotte McKinney All-Natural "Too Hot for TV"

Carl's Jr. banks on the belief that sex sells — quite literally — as they use a barely clothed model to sell a juicy burger while strolling about a farmers market. Carl's Jr.'s ad featuring Charlotte McKinney was so racy, in fact, that it was banned before Super Bowl XLIX aired.

These Orange Is the New Black Season 5 Spoilers Need to Be Discussed Pronto

It's been a hot minute since Orange Is the New Black was permeating our consciousness. As such, you're probably sitting there scratching your head and wondering just when in the heck the show is actually coming back to our tiny Netflix screens.

More: OITNB: Are these stars officially gone from the show?

Unfortunately, we don't have a release date for Season 5 confirmed, but we do have a few meaty ideas about what to expect. What can be confirmed, though, is that we already have some spoilers out there that need to be discussed pronto. So what can be safely branded as the juiciest spoilers for Season 5? Here's what we know so far.

More: 7 reasons renewing OITNB for three more seasons is premature

Season 5's storyline will take place over the course of three days

Danielle Brooks, who plays Taystee on the show, dropped the biggest Season 5 spoiler to date: The entire season's storyline will take place over three days. That means that there will be wall-to-wall drama in the next 13 episodes and we should prepare ourselves for some insane twists. While Brooks did not reveal what the story would involve, my educated guess would be that Season 5 will directly cover the fallout from Poussey's shocking death, and it may even revolve around a prisoner protest, which we saw the first moments of in the Season 4 finale.

More: Orange Is the New Black theory: Alex didn't die; she just flew the coop

Sophia will be back, but we may be missing other faves

Sophia OITNB
Image: Giphy

Sophia, we miss you, girl! Sophia was largely absent during Season 4 thanks to getting locked up in SHU. She's probably a little worse for wear after spending an ungodly amount of time in there. Let's hope that she is able to get back into the swing of things once she is released, which hopefully should have happened by the time Season 5 begins.

With Sophia's return comes the absence of others. Poussey, now dead, will probably not return unless she is shown in flashback. There are other characters currently in maximum security, like Carlin and Miss Claudette. We still have no word on whether the original bae of Litchfield, Bennett, will return at all and the same goes for Pennsatucky, who is mysteriously not listed for the Season 5 opener.

Season 5 might be coming out in summer 2017

OITNB celebration
Image: Giphy

Previous episodes of Orange Is the New Black have typically dropped in the summer, around June. Fingers crossed that the timeline doesn't change this year, so I'm just going to spoil everything and say it will happen then. Plus, why change it up? Rule No. 1: You don't mess with a good release date.

There might be a ton of people in SHU

Taystee reaction
Image: Giphy

That's solitary confinement, for those who were wondering. After the events of the wild, life-changing Season 4 finale, it is likely that a great many of the Litchfield inmates are being punished for their resistance to calm down in the wake of Poussey's death.

There will be tears

Alex Crying

Because how can there not be tears when a show as dramatic, uplifting, heart-wrenching and perfect as Orange Is the New Black is on the air?

Former Y&R Star Michael Muhney Comes Clean About That Sexual Harassment Rumor

Michael Muhney has always been a controversial figure when it comes to The Young and the Restless viewers. There are fans who want him back as Adam Newman, and there are fans who never want to see him on the CBS show again.

More: RHOBH could be affecting Eileen Davidson's Y&R screen time

Muhney has been dogged by the rumors that he sexually harassed co-star Hunter King and that was the reason for his firing. Neither he nor King has ever talked about those allegations, but Muhney is now coming clean.

A new interview on The Peloton Brief Podcast: Real Talent with Phil Gaimon, Muhney reveals the real source of those sexual harassment rumorsTMZ. He claims the gossip site sourced the rumor from a blogger in Florida. He hired a private investigator, who confirmed that the blogger was the one who started the story.

Muhney said the incident never happened and that was not the reason he was fired from the show. He believes it was his ego that got in the way of his Y&R gig. Muhney thought he was better than daytime and deserved to be on a primetime show. He gave an ultimatum to producers.

More: Hacked or mistake? Y&R’s Eric Braeden’s Twitter account fuels social media frenzy

“I am gonna leave or you have to push me out the door or something has to change,” Muhney said in the podcast. ”After six months they finally said fine, you are leaving.”

Muhney later realized that it was a mistake to make such demands and test his working relationship with co-star Eric Braeden, who played his character’s father Victor Newman. He did an about-face and asked for his job back. The producers considered allowing him to return, but the rumors about his on-set behavior spread during his hiatus.

“My problem was I was a fucking idiot. I was my own worst enemy,” he said. “I just kept pushing and I needed to just keep my head down and do my work.”

His silence on the subject created a cloud of suspicion. Many fans thought he should have defended himself against the allegations and he did consider hiring a lawyer. Unfortunately, the story didn’t go away and some of his co-stars believed the TMZ story.

More: Days of Our Lives shoots back at Victoria Rowell lawsuit

“This rumor disgusted me. I have a daughter. I never would do that,” he explained. “People thought I was gay on sets cause I never hit on girls. I was always professional.”

Muhney has admitted that he was the cause of on-set friction with Braeden before, but this was the first time he’s ever addressed the sexual harassment rumors. Why is he doing so now?

Now that his replacement, Justin Hartley, has exited the role of Adam Newman for This Is Us, Muhney is not shy about trying to work his way back to the Y&R set.

“My people are trying to talk to the right people,” Muhney said. “I want to go back to Y&R.”

The big question is whether Y&R is ready to give him a second chance. It’s clear that fans are mixed about his return, but if he has the support of executive producer Mal Young and head writer Sally Sussman, it might be a clear path to return.

Suits' Harvey Finally Got the Closure With His Mom He's Always Deserved

Harvey's estrangement from his mother is something he's been very open about. Ever since discovering at a young age that his mom, Lily, cheated multiple times on his father (who Harvey adored greatly) and then his mom asking Harvey to keep it a secret from his dad, the lawyer has faced many personal issues.

More: Suits' Mike just pulled a Dead Poets Society, & we totally need more

Well, not only did we once again get a glimpse into Harvey's past during Thursday's episode, but we also saw something that both viewers and Harvey probably thought would never happen. Harvey and his mom finally made peace.

The episode opened with Harvey seven years ago going back to Boston for his father's funeral. It was beyond heartbreaking for him, especially since he and his father were so close. Things became even more tense when Harvey came face-to-face with his mom at the funeral.

Firstly, he didn't want his mom speaking at the funeral and saying anything about his father. Though Harvey's brother Marcus helped him come to terms with it. Admittedly, Lily did give a touching speech, which focused on her ex-husband's love for his sons. It even caused Harvey to shed some tears.

It looked like things were going well and Harvey was about to make things right with his mom at the wake, but before that could happen, her partner Bobby, whom she cheated on Harvey's father with, showed up. Harvey was not happy and stormed out.

More: Suits Season 6 photos tease an unpredictable time for Specter Litt

This brings us back to the present day. During the Season 6 winter premiere, Donna told Harvey he needed to go make amends with his mom. After all these years, it was about time. For way too long, Harvey has let what Lily did eat him up inside, cause intense anger and affect his relationships.

Like Harvey usually does, he listened to Queen Donna and went to Boston. It took guts for Harvey to do what he did, and of course a reconciliation with Lily didn't come easily. They had a stressful dinner causing Harvey to yet again walk away from his mom.

At first, it didn't seem like Harvey and Lily would find any common ground, but after Bobby lit into Harvey and Marcus told his brother that enough is enough, Harvey realized it was time to make things right. As he told his mom, he doesn't hate her, but he does hate what she did. Lily did apologize and feels truly sorry for hurting Harvey so badly. So that's that and Harvey and Lily are once again in each other's lives.

It looks like Harvey can finally put all his mommy issues behind him and move in a positive direction both professionally and personally.

Harvey Specter
Image: Giphy

Getting that closure with Lily is something Harvey has deserved for a long time. We're sure there will still be times when Harvey finds himself surrounded by drama and gets angry, but establishing a relationship with his mom just might be the key to a happier Harvey.

Plus, now that the void seems to be filled, this could also mean a Harvey and Donna relationship is on the horizon. You can't be truly happy with someone until you are happy with yourself, and it sure seems like this is the direction Harvey is heading.

Between his mom and Jessica, Harvey is slowly healing, so here's hoping only good things are to come for him.

Samantha Bee Finds the Silver Lining in the Immigration Fiasco

$

There is always a silver lining, as we were thankfully reminded during tonight's episode of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. Although much of this evening's episode revolved around the pain and suffering caused by the recent ban on refugees and travel from a select group of predominantly Muslim nations (and yes, President Trump did originally refer to it as ban, although he and his cohorts have since backtracked on that language), we also got to see some of the good that has been done in the aftermath of this fiasco.

More: Samantha Bee reminds us that President Obama wasn't perfect

Lawyers get a bad rap, but as Bee explained, several stepped up to the plate last weekend to help those impacted by the new immigration measures. These compassionate legal professionals offered their services free of charge, and in doing so eased at least some of the horrible burden immigrants experienced.

ACLU Samantha Bee
Image: TBS

Although Bee commended all of the lawyers who stepped up this week for their service, she highlighted one in particular: Lee Gelernt of the ACLU. In a fascinating interview with Gelernt, Bee learned of his tireless efforts to aid those impacted by the Trump administration's controversial executive order. He also commented on the broader implications of the debacle, and his insights were very interesting, albeit a bit depressing.

More: Samantha Bee is spot on with her Kellyanne Conway and Cersei Lannister comparison

For example, when Bee commented, "It feels like they've overstepped so far that when they step back, they're still way off the cliff."

Gelernt explained that this has probably been their strategy all along. If so, it's certainly working — people are so focused on the immigration issue, they're not paying much attention to all of the other concerning executive measures proposed recently.

More: Full Frontal with Samantha Bee had the perfect tribute to Mary Tyler Moore

Trump has clearly demonstrated his intention to make good on his campaign promises, and now, many people are even more frightened than they were on Nov. 9. If there's one small source of comfort, however, it's that there really are wonderful people in this world willing to do whatever it takes to help those in need. These are the stories that the public needs to hear, and we're glad that Bee is doing her part.

Tamron Hall Doesn't Want NBC's Money if She Doesn't Have Their Respect

$

0

Update: Feb. 2, 9:30 a.m. PT: Sources have told Us Weekly that Tamron Hall's decision to leave NBC had everything to do with Megyn Kelly's arrival, and that she was completely blindsided by the news that the network had cancelled her hour of the Today show.

Hall learned the news "minutes before going on air Friday that she and Al [Roker] were being taken off the show for Megyn Kelly," a source said. "She was a wreck in commercial breaks and couldn't believe the company would tell her just before going live on MSNBC. It was especially surprising after receiving an email of praise from the coexecutive producer just days before about how they were No. 1 in the ratings for seven weeks in a row."

The following Tuesday turned out to be her last day as an anchor on the network — she abruptly quit ahead of the end of her contract this month.

On Thursday, Roker addressed Hall's sudden departure.

"As some of you may have heard by now, our good friend Tamron Hall has decided to leave NBC News," he said. "Personally, Tamron has been not just a cohost on Today for the past three years, but a good friend — and to not just me, but to all of us here. We want to wish her nothing but the best, much continued success, and we cannot wait to see what her next chapter is."

Now that Hall is leaving, the future of the network a bit fuzzier than expected. While there was no explicit mention that Hall was leaving because of Megyn Kelly's impending arrival to the Today show, the timing is suspect, and from the way People magazine reports it, no amount of money could sway Hall's opinion to stay. Is Kelly really to blame or was it time for Hall to move on to bigger and better things?

More: Rumor has it that Kelly Ripa will have some big on-air competition this summer

Hall will be leaving NBC and MSNBC after more than 10 years with the networks. In a recently released statement to The Hollywood Reporter Hall she stated, "The last 10 years have been beyond anything I could have imagined, and I’m grateful. I’m also very excited about the next chapter. To all my great colleagues, I will miss you and I will be rooting for you." Hall's effervescent demeanor in her statement makes it sound like she wishes nothing but the best for her colleagues — old and new — but the timing of her departure is, as previously mentioned, rather intriguing.

Hall's departure comes right as Kelly plans to make her big leap from Fox News to NBC. Kelly will be taking over one hour of Today's four-hour morning block, although it is still unknown if it will be the 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. slot. Regardless of which hour she chooses, it's been confirmed Al Roker & Tamron Hall will get bumped to make room for Kelly. It is possible to make an educated guess that Hall's departure acts as confirmation Kelly will be taking the hour previously occupied by Hall and co-host Al Roker. Only time will tell.

More: Megyn Kelly may get Days of our Lives canceled

The development is noteworthy for a few reasons. The first is that, as People reported, Hall was offered a multiyear, multimillion dollar contract NBC contract. That's major. If, after a decade of relationship-building between employer and employee, Hall could not be persuaded to stay, that implies to me that there's a bigger brouhaha we're not hearing about. Would Hall have had to forgo certain roles to make room for Kelly? Was the network disrespecting Hall's seniority within the Today show hierarchy?

More: Al Roker Gets Bumped to Make Room for Megyn Kelly

Granted, this is speculative, but the fact remains the same: Hall's unexpected departure is major. While Hall hasn't updated us with details on her next professional venture (and goodness knows my curiosity is piqued), this NBC exit could belie bigger problems in the network's attempt to make room for Kelly.

Do you think NBC made a mistake bumping Hall for Megyn Kelly? Let us know in the comments below.

The Best Super Bowl 2017 Commercials That Have Already Been Released

$

Oh, the drama! Oh, the excitement! Oh, the household names! No, I’m not talking about football, I’m talking about the commercials that are sprinkled throughout the football. Whether you are into the actual game taking place on the field on Super Bowl Sunday, or whether you are more into the Puppy Bowl, everybody loves a good Super Bowl commercial–which are often filled with surprises, new products, and delightful cameos. At a sticker-shocking price tag of $5.02 million per 30-second spot, they better be good.

While some companies save their Super Bowl ads for the big game, others release their commercials early. Below, we’ve collected some of the most exciting spots released so far.

More: 12 of the Most Sexist Super Bowl Commercials Ever

Budweiser “Born the Hard Way”

If you had told me that I might get a little teary-eyed at the new Budweiser commercial, I would have assumed that you had had one too many. But here we are approaching Super Bowl LI, and the domestic brew king has put aside the Clydesdales and hit a home run with a timely, touching one-minute ad that follows the immigration story of founder Adolphus Busch. It puts a lot of things in perspective and leaves you a little thirsty.

Skittles “Romance”

Skittles’ super-successful advertising year is rolling into 2017 with a cute and funny 30-second spot featuring, among other things, a slightly inept Romeo, a girl named Katie, Katie’s grandmother, and what I think might be a beaver? The ad has only been posted on YouTube for a week, and it already has 4.5 million views.

Mercedes-Benz “Easy Driver”

You know you are pulling out all of the stops when you hire the Cohen Brothers to direct your one-minute Super Bowl ad. The legendary film-making duo does not disappoint in this spot for the Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster, which stars Peter Fonda and takes place at a very intimidating biker bar.

Squarespace “John Malcovich”

John Malcovich is a delight, even when he is being weird and angry. Maybe especially when he is being weird and angry. Web design and domain hosting company Sqaurespace took full advantage in their one-minute ad spot, which depicts the actor finding out that another John Malcovich has already claimed his domain name. I dare you not to laugh when he shouts, “Get out of my name!”

Intel “Brady Everyday”

Intel took a gamble and won by casting Super Bowl LI starting quarterback Tom Brady in their commercial for Intel 360° Technology. The spot dramatizes the Patriots star’s morning routine, which might be fun for fans but lacks much interest for others.

More: Epic Super Bowl Bites

Lexus “Man and Machine”

Luxury car maker Lexus shows off its brand new 2018 LC 500 performance coupe in this extended spot that compares the sleek new car with the some equally sleek dance moves. Add Sia’s “Move Your Body” as a soundtrack, and I call this one a winner.

Turbo Tax “Humpty Fall”

Sadly, football season is followed closely by the significantly-less-fun tax season. To help us get through these tough times, Turbo Tax has created a 45-second Super Bowl ad that takes a perfectly dark and funny look at what it might be like if Humpty Dumpty used the Turbo Tax mobile app to file his taxes.

Wix “Big Game First Spot with Jason Statham & Gal Gadot”

Web development platform Wix.com is throwing its hat into the Super Bowl ad ring this year with an high-speed spot starring action stars Jason Statham and Gal Gadot. Funny and fun, the commercial shows the duo destroying a restaurant during hand-to-hand combat while the owner is busy creating the perfect website.

Mr. Clean “Cleaner of Your Dreams”

Have you ever had a thing for Mr. Clean? No, me neither. But in Proctor & Gamble’s first ever Super Bowl spot staring the bald mopper, he is looking a little more desirable, if only because he is tackling shower scum. Two thumbs up, both for creativity and for breaking the tired cleaning commercial trope that janitorial duties are primarily for women.

More: Super Bowl commercials that remind you how awesome families are

Ford “Go Further”

Besides Budweiser's pro-immigration ad, he big Super Bowl commercial winner for me so far is Ford’s 90-second spot that focuses on new innovations and concepts like self-driving cars, ride sharing, bike sharing, and electric cars. The ad is beautifully shot, filled with everyday moments and totally tapped in to some real, human emotions, all with Nina Simone singing in the background and Bryan Cranston’s voiceover.

T-Mobile "#UnilmitedMoves"

Justin Bieber, Rob Gronkowski, and Terrell Owens team up for T-Mobile's Super Bowl ad, which explores the history of the celebration dance and introduces T-Mobile One, a flat-rate cell plan that includes unlimited data and calls. Come for the attractive superstars, stay for the dance moves.

Tiffany & Co. "Legendary Style"

Lady Gaga is scheduled to rock the Super Bowl's Half-Time Show, but that's not the only time you'll see her face on Sunday. The pop star is also the focus of Tiffany's first-ever game day spot, where she will talk intimately about her creative process as part of the jewelry company's Legendary Style campaign. You'll have to wait until February 5 for the full one-minute take, but we have a short preview below.

Buick "Not So Pee Wee Football"

Buick's new Super Bowl ad asks us to imagine what it would be like if Cam Newton played on your kid's pee wee football team (and also what it would be like if your kid's pee wee football coach was Miranda Kerr). The result is cute, light 60-second commercial that also highlights two newly-designed Buicks, the Cascada convertible and Encore compact luxury SUV.

Kia "Holding Out for a Hero"

I love everything Melissa McCarthy touches, and this year for Kia's big game day ad, she is getting into a bunch of hilarious messes while trying to save the world. The one-minute Super Bowl commercial leans hard on physical comedy, but it's a light and fun romp from the icebergs of Antarctica to the plains of Africa. The environmentally-friendly product is also worth the watch: Kia is unveiling its redesigned hybrid SUV crossover, the Niro.

Which commercial is your favorite so far? Let us know in the comments below!

Of course, this hasn't been the longest break ever, so it could just be that I'm terribly impatient. In my defense, AMC keeps dropping juicy little morsels of teaser clips that keep me tantalized.

More: At Least One Walking Dead Star 'Hated' the First Half of Season 7

The latest of which is only 15 seconds long. That's it — just 15 seconds, y'all. That's less time than it takes me each week to decide I want to marry Norman Reedus (surely the current husband would make room), and that's really saying something.

Check it out, and then catch me after the jump to discuss, m'kay?

Brief though it may be, this teaser clip did contain a few moments that straight-up piqued my curiosity. We'll start with the softball here: Eugene, appearing to perform some sort of nerdy, chemistry-inspired, fire-wielding party trick to impress some random chicks who were apparently dressed for a night on the town.

TWD Eugene
Image: AMC

Wait, where did these women come from? Since when did the zombocalypse become a black-tie kind of shindig? And when did Eugene stop being, uh, you know... Eugene? He's not exactly a ladies' man.

Moving onto the next point of interest, can we bow our heads in a moment of silence for the sound sleep we used to all get before seeing the spiky iron walker of doom? Jesus take the wheel, that thing is terrifying.

If Hellraiser and Silent Hill met, fell in love and had little dystopian babies, this would be that unholy offspring.

As nightmarish as that denizen of the undead is, though, he was basically outshined by one very important (albeit super-brief) cameo from everyone's favorite suburban mom-turned-total badass: Carol.

In a mere flash, Carol appears standing in a dense wood with her gun trained on something just out of sight.

TWD Carol
Image: AMC

That's right — I said her gun. It looks to me like Carol could be locked, loaded and ready to unload. Could it be that the second half of Season 7 will bring back the Carol of old? Oh, how we've missed that Carol. Shit, we've missed any version of Carol this season considering she's only been in, like, two episodes.

Sure, her journey through pacifism and spiritualism (not to mention abject despair) has been interesting. It's Carol... she could make anything interesting. And OK, we all kind of get where she was coming from with that, right?

You can't really blame her for being in the bell jar, given the circumstances.

If Carol isn't her old badass self yet in this teaser clip, then it appears as though that version of herself is at least trying to break through. Perhaps she's trying to get used to the feel of a gun in her hand again. Maybe she's out taking a little target practice.

More: Shit's About to Get Real, According to The Walking Dead's New Synopsis

But since there also appears to be a gun holstered at her side, I'm all for throwing caution to the wind and feeling wildly optimistic that Negan is about to have some OG Carol all up in his biz.

What do you think? Is our beloved Carol coming back?

Raise Your Hand If the Last Three Minutes of Grey's Anatomy Made You Scream

Listen, it's been a tumultuous season on Grey's Anatomy so far. We're up, we're down, we're all around with our emotions — which, let's face it, isn't that much different than the normal roller coaster of psychological abuse Shonda Rhimes somehow gets Grey's fans to endure on a weekly basis.

More: McDreamy Just Made His Way Back to Grey's Anatomy, and Fans Could Not Deal

However, this season feels different because Rhimes, that ol' trickster, has been toying with our deep, abiding love for one of the medi-drama's OG characters: Alex Karev. In fact, that's basically been the main storyline thus far.

Last week's premiere left many fans feeling confused (myself included), because Bailey seemed to confirm that Alex had indeed taken the plea deal and gone to the clinker. But as a few readers pointed out to me (shoutout to Dana Conaway and Michelle Honsvick!), Bailey didn't actually confirm Alex's plea deal. She simply told Arizona and Jo about his intentions.

Dumb and Dumber GIF
Image: Giphy

Could it be possible Alex is sticking around Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital? After all, that last voicemail Meredith left him ("There were five of us. Now there's just you and me... it can't just be me.") had to have gotten him right in the feels.

Which brings us to this week's episode.

Everyone — well, almost everyone — is back at the hospital, and there are a few things happening. For starters, Richard (aka Webber), Jackson, April and the rest of Richard's loyal friends and followers still haven't gotten a handle on the whole Eliza situation. They hatch a plan to basically blacklist her from entering any OR. Predictably, tensions rise.

Sidebar: I'm still processing my feelings for Eliza, so I'm not sure how I felt about the gang conspiring against her. TBH, it felt petty, but hey, Richard has earned the right to be a bit petty.

Two big cases kept everyone busy: a woman named Mindy who was "super-having a baby" and whose husband's car rams the cab she is in and a hotshot young hockey player who got half his face peeled off by a buddy's skate.

More: Could Shonda Rhimes Be Staging a Grey's Anatomy Spinoff for Karev?

Long story short, Mindy's baby is going to be OK, but Mindy's fate is up in the air. The hockey player is going to be OK, but only because the hero cab driver who brought Mindy to the hospital noticed he was breathing funny. Turns out he had internal bleeding and the cab driver saved his life by alerting Ben to it.

Why didn't his original doctor notice it? Well, because his original doctor was Jo, who was incredibly distracted by the whole Alex situation.

A third storyline was — surprise! — Amelia. Turns out she didn't go very far when she penned that awful, heartbreaking letter to Owen and left. She went to Stephanie's house, where she is crashing on the couch and avoiding all contact with Owen.

Poor Steph. No one likes being the middle(wo)man.

As for Alex, the episode begins and ends with a nearly identical discussion between Maggie and Meredith. They've been Googling, calling, faxing, texting and essentially trying any way, shape or form to find out if Alex is in jail.

Turning up nothing, Meredith assumes he took the plea deal and is gone. Defeated, she goes to her room to "wash this day off" her. She sits her phone on her nightstand, plops down on the bed and...

UP POPS ALEX!

Grey's GIF
Image: Giphy

There was screaming! There was blubbering! There were tears! And that was just in my house. Back on-screen, Alex and Meredith hugged each other fiercely. Just like that, all was right with the world again, doves.

After last week's episode, I wanted to believe we'd all be OK if Alex did decide to leave. But who the hell was I kidding? Seeing his miraculous return tonight made me remember how important he is to Meredith's story. Plus, if we're really being honest, I may have 'shipped them a little in that moment. I couldn't help myself.

Now that we know Alex is back, does that mean someone else is going to be out soon? Amelia? Maybe Stephanie, since Jerrika Hinton has a new sitcom starting soon? I hope not, but we all know that when Shonda Rhimes giveth, she usually taketh away too.

What do you think? Are you super-excited Alex is sticking around?

Supernatural’s Dean & Sam Need Castiel Now More Than Ever Before

$

Not only did Thursday's episode focus heavily on Castiel's past and when he belonged to a group of angels who followed heaven's rules to a T (like killing a fellow angel and a child), but it also showed exactly why Sam and Dean need Cas on their side.

More: 12 Things Supernatural Fans May Have Forgotten About Past Castiel

During last week's episode, Castiel killed reaper Billie after learning that either Sam or Dean would die after they made a deal with her to escape the arms of the government. Rather than allowing Billie to take Sam, Dean or even Mary away from him, he drove an angel blade straight through her.

Billie told Sam and Dean that if they broke their deal there would be "cosmic consequences." Whatever she meant by that remains unclear, but it can't be good. Dean is extremely worried that something terrible is coming for them and/or the world.

They never can seem to catch a break, even if they're just trying to do good, like when Cas came to the rescue. As Dean said, all of this will end up "biting us in the ass." We couldn't have said it better ourselves. Something bad is on the horizon for the Winchesters, but here's hoping Cas can somehow use his expertise to save the day.

If that isn't bad enough, they also have to worry about Lucifer's baby being carried by the president's former aid, Kelly (Courtney Ford), who is also currently nowhere to be found. This baby is known in the angel community as a "nephilim" (part human, part angel). Cas told Sam and Dean that an ordinary nephilim is extremely dangerous, but one that is half Lucifer? That power is unimaginable.

More: Supernatural’s Mary Better Avoid the British Men of Letters at All Costs

Castiel
Image: Giphy

Can you imagine a mini-Lucifer walking around? Yeah, that certainly doesn't sound good. Now, whether or not Castiel will take matters into his own hands like he did in the past with the former angels he served with by killing this child, who knows?

Castiel isn't your typical angel, but one who acts more human than not. He has emotions and knows right from wrong. Add a child into the mix of a dangerous situation, and Cas might not be able to handle it like past Castiel would have.

Whatever happens with those cosmic consequences and Lucifer's baby, Sam and Dean really need Cas more than ever. His knowledge and power will most likely come in handy. Let's just hope nothing bad happens to Cas in the process, because someone always seems to fall during a Supernatural battle.

Supernatural airs Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW.

Where is Scandal's Susan Ross in Season 6?

As the battle over the vice presidency raged on Scandal tonight, there was one clear thought I couldn't get out of my head: Where the heck is Susan Ross?

Susan, you remember Susan. Fitz's vice president. The one who was in love with David last season even though she is clearly too good for him in my humble opinion. The one who should have been president if presidents were only honest, forthright people with integrity. The one who decided to go for the presidency only to head for the hills as soon as she realized how cutthroat and brutal the battle would be.

I freaking love Susan.

And I'm not the only who's noticed she's missing.

The bad news is that it seems Season 5 was her last. I know, I know. I'm reaching for the tissues too.

Scandal's Fitz crying

Actress Artemis Pebdani — come on, that's the best name I've ever heard — is now appearing in Son of Zorn as Linda, which means her schedule this season seems to be pretty full. That doesn't mean there isn't a chance that she'll sneak in an episode or two of Scandal to reprise her role as Susan, but there's no word yet whether she'll be back.

More: I Hate That Scandal's Olivia and Jake Are Bumping Uglies Again

If, if she does return, here's how I imagine things going down.

Step 1: Susan marches into the Oval Office with a stride that rivals Olivia's, and Fitz realizes that in a world where he gets to have huge influence over the next president of the United States, Susan is his gal.

Step 2: Mellie sees Susan, who slow nods and accepts the role of vice president. Sorry, Mels.

Step 3: David gets down on one knee, but Susan is too busy preparing to run the nation to notice. She struts right past him and his promises for a life of bliss. Susan has more important things to worry about.

Step 4: Jake and Rowan consider assassinating her before they check themselves because she's, well, awesome, and you just don't kill someone that awesome.

Step 5: The United States of America lives happily ever after in a state of democratic bliss because Susan Ross brings honor and pride and justice back to our nation.

The end.

Lady Gaga's Super Bowl Halftime Performance Might Just Unify America

$

We're only a few days away from Super Bowl LI, and the excitement is palpable. Perhaps the most exciting part of Sunday's festivities — hell, the only exciting thing about Sunday's festivities — will be Lady Gaga's halftime performance. Gaga's Super Bowl halftime set will get political, as she revealed in her preshow press conference. There may be no meat dresses, egg entrances or biker gangs as backup dancers, but that doesn't mean Gaga's totally changing her vibe for the occasion.

More: Lady Gaga's New Tattoo Honors Sexual Assault Survivors

You know what's great about Gaga, aside from literally everything? Her ability to mix the political, the personal and the artistic in a truly stunning fashion. During her Super Bowl LI press conference, Gaga made it plain that just because she was going to be playing at the most football of football games, it didn't mean she was going to be softening her vibe to become more crowd-pleasing.

When asked if she was going to unify America (because we all love Gaga — admit it), Gaga replied, "Well, I don’t know if I will succeed in unifying America. You’ll have to ask America when it’s over. But the only statements that I’ll be making during the halftime show are the ones that I’ve been consistently making throughout my career. I believe in a passion for inclusion. I believe in the spirit of equality, and the spirit of this country as one of love and compassion and kindness. So my performance will have both those philosophies."

More: Lady Gaga Reveals How AHS Helped Her Overcome Her Pain (PHOTO)

I wouldn't have expected any less from Gaga, who always knows how to bring the majesty and meaning to her performances. There's no doubt in my mind that Gaga, who will be bringing back the older hits from her catalogue and will surely be bringing out those themes of inclusion and personal expression, will put on a halftime show that is overtly political but exuberant at the same time. She's an entertainer, but she can also be profoundly meaningful; this bodes an interesting performance indeed.

A photo posted by xoxo, Joanne (@ladygaga) on

While it's no surprise that Gaga will focus on equality and inclusion (two tenets that she has upheld in her work for years), what will be more curious to see is how her politically leaning halftime performance will be received. When Beyoncé took to the Super Bowl stage in 2016, she and her dancers wore costumes that paid homage to the Black Panthers, inciting claims that she intentionally brought inflammatory politics to a venue that was apolitical.

As frustrating as it was to see Beyoncé negatively singled out for her choices, it set a precedent for potential scrutiny on any performer who would dare get political in the future. With Gaga giving us insight ahead of time, will she avoid any negative fallout? Will she face the same scrutiny as Beyoncé did? The conversation could go a number of ways, and frankly, I'm nervous about all of them.

There Are a Ton of Sexist Commercials — And Women Aren't the Only Targets

$

0

It's no news flash there's a ton of Super Bowl commercials that are totally sexist against women. From practically naked Victoria's Secret Angels to even more naked models eating Carl's Jr. burgers, it's safe to say we're bombarded by some seriously degrading ads on Super Bowl Sunday.

But women aren't the only targets of modern advertising. That's right, men are fair game when it comes to sexism, too. They're often depicted as either idiots or hyper-masculine (or both), and when it comes down to it, even the commercials that seem to bash only women are actually inadvertently calling men idiots because advertisers assume all males are simpleminded enough to buy into the images about women being presented.

More: The Best Super Bowl 2017 Commercials That Have Already Been Released

Here are some examples of commercials that are sexist against men.

1. Old Spice — "Nightclub"

Most of Old Spice's commercials are totally bizarre, but this one is a bit offensive. Don't get me wrong, it's totally sexist against women, too, but the reference to men as brainless robots is unmistakable.

2. Samsung Smart TV Evolution Kit commercial

We get it, we get it. Males are unevolved, filthy, burping, flatulent cavemen, but with the help of a woman and little technology, they can become fully domesticated!

3. Hanes — "Paste"

Furthering the idea that men are completely incapable of completing domestic tasks — like caring for children or even dressing themselves — this Hanes commercial depicts men as lovable doofuses who women have to continually clean up after.

4. Chevrolet — "Sexier"

Through a series of commercials that depict fake focus groups, Chevy attempts to make every male in America think that kids, mature people, attractive single women, rich housewives and other guys will not perceive them as real men unless they drive a truck. They will not be able to protect other men's daughters or appear ruggedly attractive if they drive a compact sedan. How demeaning (and false) is that?

In this particular commercial, a bunch of women sit around and bag on a guy who prefers a smaller car over a huge, gas-guzzling truck. A guy who doesn't drive a truck isn't sexy. Right.

5. Sarah Silverman and Chelsea Handler for Wi-Fi calling from T-Mobile

Silverman raised some eyebrows with a classic case of reverse sexism by uttering the line, "Sorry, it's a boy," towards the end of this 2015 Super Bowl spot. Twitter lit up with disdain for the gender bashing, asking why it's not OK to tell someone they play "like a girl," but it's funny to bash a baby's gender.

6. Miller Lite — "Man Up"

Because you're only manly if you drink beer and don't give a shit about fashion. Worrying about clothes is for chicks.

7. Dr. Pepper 10 — "It's Not for Women"

Yes, this ad is grossly anti-female, but it also manages to cram in an awful lot of harmful male stereotypes, as well. In what world would anyone want to run out and buy a Dr. Pepper after watching this commercial?

8. Doritos — "Time Machine"

Basically, men are idiots. Well, at least this guy is.

Ouch.

And the cherry on top of it all, yellow hat lady happened and had zero chill about it. Zero chill, lady!

But of course, the moment we all felt crushed: Sylva Senat's elimination. Sigh.

As the last rookie, he had plenty to say about the competition... and by competition, I mean Tanabe and Tesar.

SheKnows: Were you surprised by your elimination?

Sylva Senat: No. My dish suffered. It was really a tough day, physically and emotionally, being on the bottom for the shrimp challenge truly took a lot out of me.

SK: What was it like working with all the judges on the show? Who's the most intimidating?

SS: The judges on the show were amazing. They really reminded me of that old-school chef that knows everything that happened that day, even though they were nowhere near the kitchen. It was intimidating when Tom [Colicchio] knew what you wanted to do and then you failed at it without you mentioning it to him (a chef Jedi mind trick).

SK: Which contestant do you think deserves to win? Or who are you rooting for?

SS: I deserve to win as the “last rookie standing.” That’s my story. No, only kidding. I truly admired Chef Sheldon [Simeon] for his passion, and Brooke [Williamson] is fearless and calculated. They are my favorites.

SK: Who did you consider your biggest competition?

SS: I thought of Sheldon as my biggest competition. His flavor profile really had me wanting to taste all of his dishes. There was a focused energy around him at all times, plus in his previous Top Chef season, he was the one I rooted for.

SK: Was there anyone on the show you really clashed with? Who was it and why?

SS: The Katsuji and John duo (John-Suji). The whole time they were playing this "bad cop, worst cop" game and tried to control the rookie chefs’ emotions and actions. It was not a clash, per se, but after sweet Jim [Smith] (my roommate) went home, John decided to share his opinion about my tataki tartare dish, to which I replied, "I see what you both are doing, so your opinions don’t matter to me. You aren’t judges here."

More: Top Chef's Katsuji Tanabe Has One More John Tesar Burn Left in Him

SK: What's one thing that happened behind the scenes viewers didn't get to see on the show?

SS: After Restaurant Wars, Brooke started talking about her family, specifically her son, Hudson, which is my middle name and is also the name of her restaurant. I could sense her drive and determination as she spoke about her son and her past industry jobs.

SK: Who do you think deserved to go home on last night’s episode?

SS: I think John has been riding this season, having barely won a challenge since the first episode.

SK: What was the best experience you had on the show?

SS: I truly enjoy the adrenaline rush of putting these dishes together.

SK: What was the biggest challenge for you on the show?

SS: The BBQ challenge, which was a 14-hour challenge that took a lot out of me. I have a lot of love and respect for those that are creating these challenges. "It’s not as easy as it seems on TV," as Gerald Sombright said.

SK: Who's your favorite Top Chef contestant of all time and why?

Greg Gourdet Top Chef GIF

SS: Greg Gourdet. We were friends and worked at Jean-Georges together. My wife and I never screamed at the TV so loud than during his season. I was not allowed to watch without her, and ironically Katsuji became her semi-favorite.

How to Guess the Murderer on Forensic Files Before the First Commercial

$
0
0

Forensic Files might have gone off the air six years ago, but each and every episode lives on in my heart. More conveniently for everyone else, many episodes of the classic true-crime television show also live on through Netflix. I try with the best of them to keep up with every hot new show that’s released, but in truth, sometimes all I want to do is listen to Peter Thomas’ smooth, concerned voice over talk me through forensic criminal-catching for hours upon hours as the sun arcs through the sky and then sets, one murder after another.

More: 47 Incredible Shows You're Not Watching on Netflix

One of the best parts of Forensic Files is that, like any good mystery, they present you with a few suspects and a lot of evidence before revealing (through science!) who committed the crime. Was it the seemingly loving husband who was also hiding gambling debts? Was it the quiet aunt, jealous of her niece’s beauty and success? Was it the old janitor who was always threatening to beat people to death with his mop?

I’ve studied all 400 episodes, and now I know it was for a purpose: to learn exactly how to pinpoint the murderer before the first commercial break. Or at the very least, to throw out a pretty good guess. Here’s who you should keep an eye on:

Someone who is being way too helpful

Fred Rogers used to say that when you see scary things in the news, you should “look for the helpers.” I’m sure that what he meant was that you should look for the helpers because they were probably involved. Is the concerned boyfriend a little too concerned? Does a random neighbor keep asking police how the investigation is going? They might be guilty.

More: John McAfee Fights Back Against Rape & Murder Allegations Made in Showtime Doc

The person who is not being interviewed

It makes sense that some people do not want to be involved with the television procedural that reenacts their crime. A good chunk of the time, the person who did it is not among the cast of characters who is retelling the tale. Of course, this can be tricky. Sometimes multiple suspects aren’t interviewed during the show, and sometimes suspects aren’t interviewed until after they reveal who did it.

A person who is being interviewed, but in a suspiciously nondescript room

But wait! On a few glorious episodes of Forensic Files, the murderer is interviewed all to throw you for a loop and lead you down the wrong path to justice. Still, there are a couple of ways to tell that the murder is being interviewed. Is the background empty or blurry or a nondescript room, like one that just contains a potted plant and a couch? Is the interview subject wearing a plain outfit — like maybe an outfit that could be a prison jumper? You might have found your guy.

The person leaving behind lots of good scientific evidence

At the heart of every Forensic Files is a vital piece of evidence that cracks the case: a bullet, a fingerprint, a strand of hair, a drop of blood. There’s even that one episode when they catch the murderer/arsonist after analyzing a bag of kitty litter. Chances are if they mention one of the suspects in relation to a possible piece of forensic evidence (the police officer who was wearing a gold patch made of specially-dyed threads, for example), it's not a red herring.

More: 11 Cult-Classic TV Shows You Can Binge-Watch Right Now

The loving spouse

It’s as true on Forensic Files as it is in real life. In the vast majority of cases, the victim knows their murderer. In many episodes, the weird janitor or neighbor with the criminal record is simply a distraction from the concerned, loving spouse who is secretly taking large life insurance policies out on their partner and fiddling with the brakes on their car. Never overlook the person closest to the victim, and get even more suspicious if they seem to be interviewed in one of those rooms that just has a plant and a couch.

Jeffrey Tambor on Uniting America and That Meryl Streep Speech

$

Jeffrey Tambor has plenty to be happy about right now. The fourth season of his hit Amazon show, Transparent, is on the horizon, he's starring in a new Super Bowl ad and he's been a fixture this awards season, so he's been party to some truly amazing acceptance speeches. For Tambor, life is coming up roses, and when he sat down to talk with SheKnows, we learned that even though the state of affairs may be a bit more uncertain that we're used to, he's doing just fine.

More: The Best Super Bowl 2017 Commercials That Have Already Been Released

First things first: That Tide Super Bowl ad

Tambor came together with football star and low-key fun guy Rob Gronkowski for a rib-tickling TV spot for this year's football festivities. While Tambor is no stranger to working on commercials, this occasion was a bit different from the others.

"I've never met Mr. Gronkowski," Tambor told SheKnows, "and he invited me over to do this Tide commercial. He was so great and young and very talented. Quite comedic. We had a great time together." While Tambor himself didn't contribute anything to the cheeky awkwardness that makes this Tide Super Bowl spot so good, he does actually make the spot a thing of beauty. How could he not? This is Tambor we're talking about. He makes everything better.

More: Print Out Meryl Streep's Golden Globes Speech and Read It Every Day

What's even better is that fans will have two chances to spot Tambor during Sunday's big game: during the commercial and possibly in the stands during the Super Bowl game in Houston, Texas. When we asked about his plans for the day, he joked, "I'm literally going to the Super Bowl. I'll see you in section — oh, I shouldn't tell you my section."

There's no doubt he probably got prime seating to watch all the action unfold on the field, and the mystery location will surely make for a great halftime game of "Where in This Stadium Is Jeffrey Tambor?"

It's time for unity, truth and authenticity

After discussing the excitement surrounding his involvement in the Super Bowl, the conversation turned to the topic of America coming together for a happy occasion. Ever the pragmatist, Tambor took a moment to voice his opinions about the relief the Super Bowl could provide to America in these otherwise emotionally tumultuous times: "I think this is an important moment. I think it's great everybody wants to be united. I think that everybody wants things to go well, and I don't think it's a time for divisiveness. I think it's a time for truth, authenticity, and I can't think of a more lasting or enduring image right now than the Statue of Liberty."

Tambor Golden Globes
Image: Giphy

Tambor's words hit home, and indeed, there is nothing but truth and honesty in his remarks. He was able to encapsulate the feelings of a great many of us right now as we barrel forward into a politically unstable future; for now, though, the image of the Statue of Liberty is a beautiful way to draw focus back toward calmness and unity.

We can't forget about Meryl Streep

But Tambor's commentary also reminds us of a trend happening during this awards season: actors rightfully voicing their political concerns. While some have derided actors as "Hollywood liberal elites" with no business using their platform to speak out, Tambor felt differently. Not only does he feel comfortable speaking up, but he's been able to commiserate with other actors, like Meryl Streep, about these matters. "My wife and I made a special trip to thank Meryl Streep for her brilliant speech at the SAG Awards," he told us. While Tambor did not mention whether it was truly as wonderful as an experience as one might imagine, chatting with Streep and discussing her speech, one likes to think it was indeed wonderful.

More: 13 Times Celebs Condemned Donald Trump & His Muslim Ban Policy at the 2017 SAG Awards

For now, Tambor is only focused on the weekend ahead, and that weekend is all about the Super Bowl. It's a good lesson to take away: only focus on the next day or so ahead of you, spend it with the people you cherish and focus on the good things in life. Without even knowing it, Tambor has been the great guiding force we've come to love.

SNL was on fire last night, but not just because of Alec Baldwin's Trump impersonation. It was the four (yes, four!) women who hilariously played male characters that brought the house down, in what must be a first for the sketch comedy show that's in its 42nd season.

When we checked Twitter about 10 p.m. Pacific time on Saturday night, the tweets were already flying over Melissa McCarthy playing White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer. Our imaginations soared anticipating how funny she would be playing the double-talking, press-mocking 45-year old man and she didn't disappoint.

The best line from the sketch came when McCarthy as Spicer described the reaction to Trump announcing his Supreme Court Justice pick, Neil Gorsuch. She said:

"The crowd greeted him with a standing ovation which lasted a full 15 minutes and you can check the tape on that. Everyone was smiling...The men all had erections and every single one of the women was ovulating, left and right!"

But McCarthy wasn't the only talented actress to play a man on last night's show. SNL's Family Feud sketch brought us two more. Kate McKinnon reprised her impression of Justin Bieber as the man-child we know and love, and Leslie Jones could barely contain her own laughter as Jones portrayed actor Samuel L. Jackson.

Host Kristen Stewart also got into the act by donning boy's trousers for her portrayal of Charlie in a sketch about Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Seriously, Stewart can do anything! It was so fun to see her break out of her serious, too cool for school demeanor and just get silly.

But it was SNL who found the real "Golden Ticket" by letting these four talented actresses play male characters. This is a big deal because traditionally, it's been acceptable for men to play women in comedy (remember Dana Carvey's Church Lady?), but it was rarer for women to play men, most likely because there were plenty of male actors ready to play the male characters. Finally, funny women are getting their shot at adding their own unique spin on male-focused sketches and it's a delight.

We hope to see a lot more gender-bending on the show in the future.

Stranger Things Made Super Bowl LI Worth the Watch

That Justin Timberlake/Christopher Walken commercial was clutch. Watching Tom Brady get sacked revived my soul. Lady Gaga was a queen; admittedly, the way she owned that halftime show was a close second best moment. The game, on the other hand, was just eh.

But the biggest reason I tuned in for Super Bowl LI was that Stranger Things Season 2 trailer, and it didn't disappoint, except that it was a little too short for my liking.

Those little kids are absolutely delightful. And we got a look at Eleven, confirming what we already knew: She's definitely going to play a big part in Season 2.

Right when I saw that L'eggo My Eggo commercial, I knew what was going down on my television screen.

And even though the trailer was a blip in my nail-biting wait to watch Season 2 come Halloween 2017, we did learn some interesting things.

"The world is turning upside down," the trailer warned us of Season 2, which means that Eleven is coming back and so are a host of new nasties. That red sky looked no bueno.

The Demogorgon may be dead, but there are still plenty of bad things to visit the small Indiana town we all grew to love in Season 1.

On the flip side (see what I did there?), those Ghostbuster Halloween costumes are on fleek!

Thanks to previously released information, we know the second season will pick up a year after the first, and I'm so OK with this series turning Harry Potter-esque. Hopefully, we'll get to watch the kids grow into adults and eventually rule the world.

The one thing the trailer didn't tell me: Will Eleven finally grow out some luscious locks to rival Steve in Season 2? Guess we'll have to tune in to find out.

There's no doubt Stranger Things Season 1 was a huge success. It is one of the best series that has ever come to Netflix, so thankfully, there is a second season.

More: Finally there's proof Stranger Things' Steve is actually Jean-Ralphio's dad

From castings to returning characters to episode details, here's everything you need to know before commencing the binge of Season 2.

1. Episode titles

Thanks to this teaser, we now know the titles of each Season 2 episode. Let the speculation begin.

2. Eleven is officially back

Based on how Season 1 ended, it was unclear if or how Eleven would return to Season 2. Do not fret, because Eleven is returning. Although, how many episodes she'll be featured in and if she'll play a huge part like she did in the first season remains unknown.

Not only is Eleven part of the above photo (which is obviously making a fun play on the Upside Down), but so are Dustin, Lucas, Mike, Will, Jonathan, Nancy, Steve and two new faces. The caption reads, "Back in production. See you next year."

4. More Steve and Will

As reported by TVLine in October, both Steve (Joe Keery) and Will (Noah Schnapp) are now series regulars.

5. So many new characters

The Stranger Things cast is going to be even bigger than it was in the first season. According to TVLine, Sadie Sink (American Odyssey) will play Max, who is said to be a “tough and confident girl whose appearance, behavior and pursuits seem more typical of boys than of girls in this era." Then, there is Power Rangers' Dacre Montgomery, who is set to play Max's "hyper-confident, edgy older step-brother. He steals girlfriends away from their boyfriends, is great at drinking games, and drives a black Camaro. But lurking under his apparent charisma, is a violent and unpredictable nature."

As revealed by Entertainment Weekly, Paul Reiser (Mad About You), Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings, Goonies) and Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen will also be part of Season 2. Reiser will play Dr. Owens, "a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a ‘clean-up’ assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year." Astin will play Bob Newby, "a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack." Finally, Berthelsen will play Roman, "an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child. Although she does not live in Hawkins, she is mysteriously connected to the supernatural events at the lab…"

6. All about Will

Stranger Things, Will

All of Season 1 focused on saving Will and seeing as that was accomplished in the last episode, he will become even more of a focus. In addition to Schnapp being a series regular, Matt and Ross Duffer (aka, the Duffer Brothers and the creators of Stranger Things) told reporters at the Television Critics' Association in July that the sophomore season would look into the "bigger mythology" behind Will's disappearance. Matt said, "It’s open-ended in a way that if people wanted it, and Netflix wanted it, we could explore it and continue the storyline."

7. A time jump

Mike, Stranger Things

When Season 2 finally premieres, it will pick up in 1984, the Duffer Brothers revealed to EW in July. Even though it's only a one-year time jump, Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers) told Entertainment Tonight in November, "You follow these characters a year later, and you're straight back in the world of Hawkins, [Indiana], which we know and love so well. The scope feels bigger this year." Also regarding the time jump, Heaton added, "I don’t think you're gonna notice. Even though it's a year, you're falling straight back into where we left off, in a sense."

8. We'll see more than just Hawkins

Jonathan, Stranger Things

The Duffer Brothers also told EW that Season 2 will travel outside of Hawkins. "We will venture a little bit outside of Hawkins," Matt said. "I will say the opening scene [of the premiere] does not take place in Hawkins."

9. There are nine episodes

Dustin, Stranger Things

It's only one more episode than Season 1, but Season 2 will include nine episodes. Matt told EW, "We’re letting the story dictate it. I think if it gets any longer, it gets unwieldy for us. We want to make sure it’s manageable and we want to be able to tell a movie-like story where it’s never treading water. We want it to have the same feel and pacing as Season 1. I think if we extend it too much, it will have a very different feel."

10. Even more from the Upside Down

Joyce, Stranger Things

If you thought the Upside Down storyline was finished, you're wrong. There is so much more to learn, Matt dished to EW. "We kinda just peeled back the curtain and revealed a tiny bit of the Upside Down. So we definitely want to explore a little bit more. There’s a lot we don’t know about the Upside Down at the end of Season 1."

11. Joyce is getting a love interest

During a Jan. 21 Fan2Sea Comic-Con cruise (via Hollywood Life) David Harbour (he plays Hopper), dished, "We have Sean Astin… he’s Winona’s new boyfriend — much to the chagrin to the Chief of Police." So does this also mean Hopper and Joyce may soon have a romance?

12. "Justice for Barb"

David Harbour, Stranger Things
Image: Giphy

If you consider yourself a huge fan of Barb, Harbour also teased at the panel that she will be part of the storyline, but not physically. "The question and the feelings that Nancy has that no one ever cares about her friend Barb are very much present in the beginning of the season," he revealed.

13. There is some fallout

Stranger Things, Eleven

According to Harbour, there is also some major fallout between certain people, which is to be expected. "It’s a year later in the story, so there are several things that happened last year — like Will has come back — there are certain people in the town that know what happened, and then certain people that don’t know what happened." He added, "So there’s a lot of fallout with who knows what."

14. This ominous teaser

During the 2017 Super Bowl, a Stranger Things teaser dropped. There are a ton of clues in it, especially an Eleven appearance, a seemingly scary new monster and a shoutout to Eggo waffles. Oh, we also have an official premiere date. Season 2 debuts Halloween. How perfect is that?

Stranger Things Season 2 returns Oct. 31, 2017.
